The Grand Bell Mothership (大鐘堂母艦, daishoudou bokan?) is the main ship of the fleet commanded by Alfman that decided to abandon Metafalss after they saw that Metafalica had been a failure and that the land it created, Gaea, vanished shortly after it came into existence.

History

When Gaea disappeared due to Jacqli taking away its Heart of the Land, Croix and his friends were lucky enough for a Sacred Army ship, commanded by Chester and Targana, to come to their rescue, although Chester made it clear he did it just because he wanted the pleasure of personally killing Croix and he wouldn't allow him to die in any other way. After this, Chester and Targana informed them that Alfman had deserted and abandoned Metafalss when he saw the failure and Metafalica, with Chester remarking this was considered an act of treason to Metafalss and thus he should be executed for it. Croix and the others were as enraged as both of the Sacred Army leaders, so Chester asked them for their cooperation in assassinating Alfman in exchange for having saved their lives. Croix and the others agreed to do it.

After a while of pursuit, Croix and the others boarded Alfman's ship while Chester told them to find him and grant him the divine punishment. They fought through the multiple waves of knights and guards that formed Alfman's personal troops and then finally confronted him on his chamber. Once there, Alfman sarcastically remarked on how they managed to escape Gaea while Croix and Leglius questioned him on why he was abandoning Metafalss. Alfman replied he didn't see how this was wrong and that he was escaping to save this land, to which Leglius remarked that Alfman was incapable of differentiating his own will from that of the general public and that killing the former Maiden, Arshe, was unnecessary because he could just have used Replekia. Alfman just told him to not meddle in matters that weren't part of his profession to not end up looking like a whining ignorant, and that he always thought about Metafalss.

He explained that he didn't see a point on staying on this dead land where the Goddess had absolute control of everything and where it was proven that even creating new land was impossible, as the population would keep growing while living space and farming land became more and more scarce. Alfman had proposed using Replekia to free this world from the Goddess, as a revolution always needed to destroy the current status quo to succeed, but he also remarked that no plan had a 100% of success and thus, he had to always think ahead in case the plan had failed, as it was the case. Leglius called him out on his attempt to flee the land, to which Alfman replied that now Metafalica was impossible, there was no need to stay here and thus, he would take 100 people and search for another land where they could take root.

Luca's Route

At this point, Cloche intervened by saying that Alfman was doing nothing but betraying the expectations of everyone living in Metafalss, but Alfman shouted to her that a Maiden that was unable to do anything shouldn't be saying anything, and that she only had the right to talk back once she had shown results. He then criticized Cloche by saying that she couldn't unite the people because she was always rebelling against him, to which Cloche retorted that was what she had been doing her entire life. However, Alfman silenced her by saying that all was due to following his orders.

Alfman then offered Leglius the chance to come with him to a new land, but Leglius refused because he loved Metafalss and its people too much to even think of abandoning them, to then say he would defeat Alfman to recover the Heart of the Land that Jacqli had stolen, as Metafalss needed both of its Maidens and he wasn't going to let anyone to take one of them away.

After a hard battle, Alfman began a grandiose speech about how he would never die because the world needed him, but Leglius simply shut him up by saying he didn't care about what he had to say now. That moment, the entire ship shook with an explosion, and knight came in reporting that someone had blown up the engine room. Amarie advised to get out quickly, but Croix reminded them that the Heart of the Land was still on the ship and they needed to find it. Cloche put herself on Croix's side and told them to search for the Heart until the last possible moment before abandoning the ship.

When they reached the engine room, they were shocked to see that Laude and Jacqli had been the ones that had blown up the room. Croix demanded Jacqli to give back the Heart, but she refused, as both she and Laude had plans for it. Leglius asked if they were going to betray them now, to which Jacqli replied that they had never been allies in the first place and subtly admitted she had caused the explosion herself. However, she was shocked upon giving a look to the Heart, noticing it had shrunk greatly. She then told the party that she didn't have much time to fulfill her goals before the Heart disappeared, and that even if they escaped, Metafalss was done for, as she and Laude would sacrifice the land for their own goals. However, Jacqli added then that Laude was going to become a sacrifice as well, and ran away with the Heart. Leglius demanded Laude to explain what was happening, but Laude refused and ran away himself. Noticing they didn't have more time, they returned to the deck of the ship as fast as they could, where Chester and Targana were awaiting, and they took off back to the Rim while the mothership sank into the Sea of Death.

On the trip back, Targana congratulated Croix and Leglius for having defeated Alfman, but also told them he wasn't confident into making them his subordinates due to how easily they went against their former boss, while adding that he knew this from how Croix betrayed him long ago. During the rest of the trip, Cocona remarked on how amazing it was that Croix was friends with Targana, to which Cloche agreed, as it was very unbelievable he once was a friend of someone from the former imperial family. Cocona then asked what Croix did to make Targana so bitter towards him, to which Croix replied it was because he joined the Grand Bell, which Targana considered as his enemies, and they had made a promise when they were children to make Metafalss into a better place. He then bitterly remarked on how much he wished to know where Jacqli was at the moment, to which Cloche replied she might be able to know if she went to that place. They then disembarked at Enna.

Layout

This place isn't really massive when compared to the dungeon that came before it (Imperial), so it shouldn't take long to the player to accomplish the objectives needed to get back to Metafalss, which are simply defeating Alfman and finding Jacqli. However, they should know that this place has the highest encounter rate and number in the game (tied up with Sol Marta) due to being swarmed with Grand Bell Knights loyal to Alfman, so trying to empty the Encounter Gauge is no more than a waste of time. However, they still should try to get some Crack Bolts that are dropped by the Guard Knight enemies, as these will save them a lot of frustration later in the game.
