Wave Science Lectures - 2nd Period
本作には『定常D波』など、『導体H波』など、難解な波動科学の設定用語が多数 存在する。しかし、そのディープな設定に魅了される人が多いのもまた事実。本 項では、前作『アルトネリコ設定資料集』内での上級科学講座を受講した人向け の、より"濃い"、概念部分を解説していく。
In the game itself, there is a lot of difficult wave science terms we used in the terminology for creating the game, such as [Static D-Waves] and [Dynamic H-Waves]. And actually, there is a lot of people that are fascinated by such a deep world-building. So this section of the book, much like the high grade science lecture from the previous [Ar tonelico Setting Materials Collection (Settei Book)], this is mostly aimed to the people that like to read scientific materials, and in here, we will give a general idea of the "depth" that exists in the Ar tonelico world.
Dynamic Waves and Static Waves[]
万物はすべて波動でできている。ソル シエ ールで解明された波動科学は、またたく間に 世界を席巻し、各地域に普及した。波動科学に 通じることは、すなわち世界を知ることであり、 真理に迫るということに他ならない。 まず、波動科学の入り口として知っておきた いのは、波動には『D波』と『H波』など違う性質、 違う次元を持つ様々な種類があり、それぞれ には『導体波』『定常波』という波の状態が存在 することだ。波動科学では、これらの波動分類 によって、基本的にすべてを語ることができる。
Everything in the world is made up from waves. The explanations that Sol Ciel devised from its investigations, called Wave Science, was spread all over the world, and its regions in a flash. What Wave Science teaches, namely, the knowledge about the world it carries, isn't different at all from what we call getting closer to the truth. First of all, the introductory knowledge to Wave Science are two waves with different properties, called the [D-Waves] and the [H-Waves], which carry within themselves other different kinds, these kinds of waves being called [Dynamic Waves] and [Static Waves], which are actually the conditions in which these waves may exist. Knowing the different kinds of waves, you are able to talk about Wave Science in its most basic level.
Kinds and Conditions of the Waves[]
D-Waves[]
英訳すると『Detail Wave』。物理的な、形を成してい るものを指す。『定常D波』なら物質そのものであり、『導 体D波』なら物質的な作用を起こすエネルギーと言える。 溶ける、凍るなどは『導体D波』の作用と考えてもいい。
Their acronym means [Detail Wave]. They are the waves that make and structure the physical objects. If they are [Static D-Waves], then they are the components of the objects, and if they are [Dynamic D-Waves], then they are called the energy that comes out whenever a physical object does an action. For example, you can think of the [Dynamic D-Waves] as the energy that allows the water to freeze and the ice to melt.
H-Waves[]
英訳すると『Hymmno Wave』。 物理世界には作用し ない、『想い』の波動である。人やレーヴァテイルの精神 は定常H波で構成されている。詩魔法とは、導体H波 (=想いのエネルギー)を導体D波に変換する行為だ。
Their acronym means [Hymmno Wave]. They don't exist in the physical world, given they are the waves of [Feelings]. The consciousness of both Humans and Reyvateils are formed from Static H-Waves. And Song Magic isn't more than the act of converting Dynamic H-Waves (in other words, the energy of the feelings) in to Dynamic D-Waves.
Dynamic Waves[]
単簡に言えば『エネルギー』のことを指す。すべてが 波動で構成された世界では、光も熱も、魔法の力も、す べてエネルギーと解釈とできる。このエネルギーを波動 の性質分類で表すと『導体波』という言い方になる。
Simply put, they are the waves that make up [Energy]. They can be explained as the waves that comprise all the kinds of energy in the world, such as light, temperature and Symphonic Power. In a metaphorical sense, these energies show the inherent properties of the kind of waves that made it, called the [Dynamic Waves].
Static Waves[]
『そこに在り続ける力』を表す。たとえば鉛筆が鉛筆で在 り続けるためには、その状態を維持する『力』が必要とな る。言い換えれば『原子の集合体』であり、『存在』と言っ てもいいだろう。この世界においては原子も波動である。
It's also called [the power to continue existing]. For example, for a pencil to continue existing as a pencil, it needs to have a [power] that allows it to keep its pencil condition. It could also be called as [Atomic Assembly], and [Existence]. This world also has in common with Ar Ciel the existence of atoms and waves.

もっとも大きい"枠"が世界。本書の用語に照らしてみると、『感星』にあたるの が『感星アル シエール』であり、『地域』にあたるのが『メタ ファルス』や 『ソル シエール』となる。
The extremely enormous "border" that shapes this universe is the world. And for clarifying the terminology used in this book, [Planet] is how we call the [Planet of Ar Ciel], and [Region] is how we call [Metafalss] and [Sol Ciel].
The Laws of the Universe[]
宇宙もまた、波動で構成されている。およ そビックバンと呼ばれる類の「この世界』 の事象は、たった一つの原子核によって もたらされた。その原子核を『エクサピーコ (EXA_PICO)』という。エクサピーコが大い なる意志をもって紡ぎだしたものが『宇宙』だ。 宇宙に存在する星や星雲など、すべてはエ クサピーコから生まれている。この、エクサピ ーコからの広がりと創造を指して、メタ ファ ルスの言様で表現すれば『エクサピーコが詩 を紡ぐことで作られています』となる。 原子核エクサピーコは、無限とも言える数 の波動 (定常波)によって構成されている。そ してそのうち1つの波動(例えばD波)におい ても無限とも言える方向に対し、無限とも 言える周波数成分を持っている。 エクサピーコはそういった天文学的な種類 の波動を、時間という概念では計測できない レベルの短時間で猛烈に放射していく。そし てその多方向に展開する波同士がぶつかり、 干渉すると、そこで均衡が崩れ波の動き(うね り)が発生する。それが『導体波』である(図1)。 産み出された導体波は、この世界空間を伝播 していき、それがエクサピーコの『宇宙』を 構築。つまり宇宙は、『世界』という概念の なんで、『エクサピーコが影響を及ぼしている 範囲』と表現することができる。 こうして広がった導体波は、新たな定常波を 生んでいく。この現象は、エクサピーコが産み 出した導体波が、世界に広がるナム(num)の 海(全波動の振れ幅0、周波数0の空間)に作 用した結果と言える。波動科学的には、ナム の海に導体D波が振れ幅と周波数を与えたこ とで、そこに定常波が生まれ、『宇宙』に変化し て『そこに在り続ける』ことになった...とい うことになる。(図2)。 この波動の干渉は、特常の波で起こるもの ではない。導体D波以外の波動も同時に干渉 しているため、そこでは新たな原子核の集合 体を生んでいる。すなわちエクサピーコは、 新たな原子核の集合体を無限に生み続けてい るといううわけだ。その集合体が星であり、ブラ ックホールであり、目に見えない波動エネル ギーである。それらの無数の創造物たちは、 すべてエクサピーコの『詩』によって生まれて いる。創造物にH波が含まれていることは、 様々の言葉で言うところの『意志』があること に他ならない。すなわちそれは、エクサピー コの『想い』なのだ。
This Universe is made from waves, as well. The event that created [this world], called the Big Bang, was caused by just an small atomic nucleus. That atomic nucleus is called [Exa Pico], and by means of its enormous will, it crafted the [Universe].
The other kind of existences, such as the stars and galaxies, were all born from Exa Pico, as well. The expansion from Exa Pico and indicating the creation of every thing has been said metaphorically in Metafalss as [Whenever Exa Pico crafts a song, it also creates something].
It can be said that the atomic nucleus of Exa Pico also composed an unlimited number of waves (Static Waves). And thus, each one of these waves (for example: the D-Waves) can be said in a unlimited number of ways that it also carries an unlimited number of wave frequencies as its components.
Exa Pico also emits the astronomical kind of waves at such a rapid and violent rate that our general concept of time isn't even able of measuring it. And when the expanding waves come from different directions and bump into each other, they cause interference to each other, and originate waves that have lost the equilibrium in their undulation. These new waves are the [Dynamic Waves] (Pic. 1).
The newly created Dynamic Waves will propagate through the space of this world, and create the [Universe] of Exa Pico. In short, we can say that the Universe, under the general concept of [World], is [an area where Exa Pico exerts its influence).
Thus, the expanded Dynamic Waves will create a new kind of waves, called Static Waves. This phenomenon is said to be the result of the Dynamic Waves created by Exa Pico expanding through the Sea of Num (the space where the amplitude and frequency of all the waves are zero). The theories established under Wave Science stipulate that the Dynamic D-Waves gave their frequencies and amplitudes to the Sea of Num, and that created the Static Waves, turning the [Universe] into [Something that Continues to Exist]... or at least, that's what these theories say. (Pic. 2)
This wave interference doesn't happen because of special Static Waves. Except
for the Dynamic D-Waves, all of the waves are the result of a simultaneous
interference, which also produced the assembly of new atomic nucleuses.
We actually could say that the Exa Pico continues creating an unlimited
number of new assembled atomic nucleuses. Among these assemblies we have
the stars, the black holes, and the waves of energy that are invisible to
the naked eye. These countless creations are born from the [Song] of Exa
Pico. The creations also include H-Waves, which, even if they are called
in various ways, they aren't anything more than [Will]. Namely, they are
the [Feelings] of Exa Pico.

When two waves of the same kind (i. e. two identical D Waves) collide with other, the wave interference causes the creation of a new wave.

Is only in this stationary point where the Dynamic Waves meet, and because of the resonance phenomenon, they are amplified, creating an static power exactly where they meet. That power ends turning into a new Static Wave.

銀河系、太陽系などと呼ばれる星の集まり は、エクサピーコの放つ様々な波動の産物だ。 そしてそれらの「星団」にも、エクサピーコと同 様に原子核の集合体が存在している。言うま でもなく、星団には星団自身の「想い」がある ためだ。星団からすれば、自身の想い以外の 想いは、他人の想いでしかない。しかしエク サピーコの想いだけは別格となる。なぜなら、 星団はエクサピーコに内包まれた存在である ため、「星団の想い」は「エクサピーコの想い」 に他ならないからだ。かくして、星団と、それ を内包するエクサピーコの想いとは、その中 に無数の星を創造していく。これを無限に繰り 返すなかで、また新たな原子核の集合体が生 まれ、「星」という意味を形成していくのだ。
The assemblies of stars called Galaxies and Solar Systems are the product of the many kinds of waves released by Exa Pico. And thus, these [Star Clusters] are atomic assemblies which exist being essentially similar to Exa Pico. As we all know, this is because the Star Clusters themselves also have their own [Feelings]. However, these feelings are not actually of them, or from other entities. They are nothing else but the extraordinary feelings of Exa Pico. This is because the Star Clusters are existences that were contained inside of Exa Pico, which causes that the [Feelings of the Star Clusters] and the [Feelings of Exa Pico] to not be different at all. Thus, the Star Clusters, and the feelings that were contained inside Exa Pico, were what created the infinite number of stars that compose the Star Clusters. While this process keeps repeating itself endlessly, it will give birth to many new atomic assemblies, which take the shape we call the [Stars].

そうして 「惑星」が生まれる頃には、惑星を 支える意志は天文学的な数学を超越するほど 存在している。これまで述べてきたように、エ クサピーコの、宇宙の、星団の想いが放つ無限 の波動が、すべてに影響を及ぼしているためだ。 それらから構築された「この惑星の原子核の集 合体」によって、惑星は存在する。それが惑星 の意志であり、「想い」そのものだからだ。 ソル・シエールとメタ・ファルスを内包する この惑星は、「アルシエール」(ヒュムノス語でar ciel。「この世界」の意)という。惑星アルシエ ルは、自らの意志でこの星の表面に生命を産 み出した。あらゆる生命体から自身の形、山や 海に至るまで、すべてアルシエルの意志とそ れに関わる波動によって成り立っているのだ。
And when a [Planet] is created, the will supports its existence will even transcend the astronomical kind of mathematics. And its because, as we have stated until, the infinite number of waves released from Exa Pico, the Universe, and from the feelings of the Star Clusters, all exert an influence over the Planets. Because they all constructed [the atomic assembly of this Planet], it's that this Planet exists. And because of that, the Planet also has a Will of its own, its own [Feelings]. This Planet, which contains the regions of Sol Ciel and Sol Cluster is called [Ar Ciel} (which in Hymmnos means [This World]). The Will of the Planet Ar Ciel is what gave birth to everything that exists on its surface. From all the life forms, to its own shape, including its mountains and oceans, all of them consist of the waveforms that are affected by the Will of Ar Ciel.

続いて、「生命」の話題に入る。人間には意 志がある。意志とは、「定常H波」である。人間 はまた、自身を持つ。自身とは、「定常D波」の ことだ。D波を持たず、H波だけを持つ状態も ある。我々が「霊」という言葉で表現する存在 だ。人間は「目」で世界を捉えようとするが、目 は「定常D波のごく一部を認識するセンサー」 に過ぎない。H波を感知できないのだから。 こう考えていくと、「意志」についてより深く 考察できる。人は「動物は生命で意志がある」 「植物は生命だが意志はない」「石は生命がな く意志もない」と考えがちだが、これはすべて 目で感知するための誤解だ。動物は「自由に動 く意志と自身を備えている」だけに過ぎない。 植物は「自由に動く意志がない」だけであり、 目に見えて変化する物質(=自身)を持ってい る。石は「そのいずれも持たない」という「意志」 があるのだ。この世界にあるすべてのものは、 明確に「意志」を持っているのである。
Continuing, we will now discuss the topic of the [Life Forms]. The humans have a will, which is formed by their [Static H-Waves]; and also, they have a body, which is formed by their [Static D-Waves]. There is also a condition where they could lack D-Waves, and have only H-Waves, which is an existence we are used to call [Spirits]. The humans perceive the world through their [Eyes], though their eyes are no more than [Sensors capable of recognizing just an small part of the existent Static D-Waves]. This is the reason why they are incapable of perceiving H-Waves. Now, thinking under this paradigm, you should be able to think about the [Will] in a more deep way. The humans usually think that [The animals have will as life forms], [The plants are life forms, but don't have a will of their own], and [The stones aren't life forms, so they don't have a will]. However, all of this is but a misunderstanding caused by just judging from what they can perceive through their eyes. The animals simply [have a body and a will that allows them to move freely]. The plants are just [life forms that don't have a will that allows them to move freely], though you can see that they do have a component (their bodies) that does change over time. And the stones [don't have either a body or will that allows them to move freely], but they do have a [Will] of their own. So you can be sure that everything that exists on this world has a [Will] of its own.
The Atomic Assemblies and the Bodies[]
原子核の集合体は、波動の干渉によって「何 か」を常に産み出している。それによってエク サピーコは定常D波など様々な波動(=H波な ど目に見えないものも含め)を無数に生み出 し、結果的に宇宙を創造した。それ星団で も惑星でも同じプロセスを経て、最後的には 惑星のなかに様々なものを生み出している。 目に見えるもの、たとえば導体D波では大気や 水分、そして生命を創造して。特に生命に関し ては、導体D波と導体H波が主成分となり、他 の無数の波動が組み合わさって生まれた極め て高レベルな波動干渉の産物だと言える。 このように、波動の干渉はエクサピーコから 生命まで、あらゆる環境で発生し、新たな「何 か」を生んでいるわけだが、対して「人間」はど うだろうか。答えは、「もちろん生んでいる」で ある。たとえば定常D波の代表格である「身体」 がそうだし、自らの身体を構築する細胞は、自 らを代謝させながら生命活動を続ける「生命 体」だ。他にも、身体の外側にも熱や水蒸気な ど様々な波動を生じさせている。しかし、その 影響力が小さいゆえに知覚できない。たとえ ば惑星の視点で見れば、紙のように薄い ものでしかない。つまりそういうことだ。 総じて、エクサピーコと人間とでは、原子核 の集合体という意味では変わらない。エクサ ピーコと同じ理屈で存在する「いのち」なのだ。 両者の差は、それを構成する波動の種類の差 でしかない。エクサピーコから始まる波動の 干渉は、その親側の範囲内の波動成分で構成 された物しか創造しないというわけだ(図3)。
The atomic assemblies are [anything] that is always being created because of wave interferences. Because of this, Exa Pico crafted an unlimited number of things through the Static D-Waves and other kinds (such as the H-Waves, which cannot be perceived by the eyes), which was what created the universe. No matter if the end result is an star cluster or a planet, they passed through the same process to be created, and at the end, many things are being created inside of the planet. For things that are visible to our eyes, such as the atmosphere and the moisture, and also, the life forms, all are created through Dynamic D-Waves. Especially in regards to the life forms, whose main components are both Dynamic H-Waves and Dynamic D-Waves, and the union of these two kinds of waves with an infinite number of other kinds of waves, which are said to be the product of a wave interference of an extremely high level, are what gives life to them.
Like this, starting with Exa Pico, and ending with the life forms, is how all the environments originated, and how new [anythings] continued to be created, but... what about the [humans]? The answer is [of course they are being born]. For example, the Static D-Waves they call their [bodies] are like that too, being constructed by cells, and as long as these cells continue exercising their metabolisms, they will continue to live, thus being called [life forms]. Besides, the exterior of the body also creates many kinds of waves, such as heat and sweat. However, that clout is so small that it cannot be perceived. For example, if we saw this from the viewpoint of the planet, it would just be as thin as a paper sheet. More or less that is how we feel the clout of our cells. But speaking In general, the meaning of everything from Exa Pico to the humans being just atomic assemblies doesn't change. Everything that exists because of the same reasons as Exa Pico is a [life]. The difference between both is only in what kinds of waves constitutes each of them. Each one of the waves that we know also forms part of a bigger wave range, whose highest point are the waves that expand from Exa Pico (pic. 3).

ここで示している波動は模式的なものであり、実際 には無限とも言える数の波動がエクサピーコから 発せられている、その下位にあたる星団、恒星、惑 星などは、その上位の波動の一部を受け継ぐ形で 創られる。別の星団にある別の惑星には、アルシ エルとはまったく違う波動成分で創られたものも 存在するわけだ。なお、親の持たない波動成分を、 その子が持つことはない。例えば太陽がN波を持 っていなければ、その惑星がN波を持つことはない のである。これによって、比較的近距離に位置す る宇宙での物理的法則は、それほど常識を覆すこ とはない。しかし遠い宇宙では、アルシエルの科 学的実証が通らない場所は無数に存在するのだ。
The waves represented here are an schematic diagram of the supposedly infinite waves that expand from Exa Pico, which is on a upper rank in comparison to the star clusters, stars, and planets, among other things, and we can see how each one of the lower ranks inherit one part of these waves when they are created. In other star clusters there are also other planets, which means that they might have entirely different waves in their composition from the ones that Ar Ciel has. Furthermore, if the "father" part doesn't have an specific wave as its component, then, its "children" parts won't inherit it either. For example, if a sun doesn't have N-Waves on its composition, the planets orbiting it won't have N-Waves either. Following this line of thought, we can see that being apart in this universe by a relatively short distance doesn't go against the common sense. However, given how vast the universe is, there might be infinite places where the scientific paradigms existent on Ar Ciel might not be applied.
The Existence Called the "Voice"[]
人間の原子核の集合体は縦長に約2mの影 響範囲を持ち、自らの周囲に定常D波を作用 させて自身を形成している。しかし、人間はさ らに、突発的に極めて巨大な力を有していた。 「声」である。 声は定常D波を変化させ、導体H波を産み 出している。定常H波が「意志」を表すのは先 述のとおりだが、声を出せるということは、瞬 間的に自分の原子核の影響範囲を最大で数百 mにも拡大できることを表している。加えて 人には、発せられた導体H波のうち、2万Hzま での波動を感知するセンサーが備わっている。 すなわちそれが「耳」というわけだ。波動科学 では、耳とは自らが発した導体H波(意志)を 確認するためのチェックサムとして用意され た器宮だと考えられている。
The human atomic assemblies have a vertical area of influence of approx. 2 meters, which is where their own Static D-Waves enter into effect to mold their bodies. However, the humans surprisingly have also another extremely great power. This power is the [Voice]. The voice changes the Static D-Waves, and produces Dynamic H-Waves. As we said before, the Static H-Waves are [Will], and releasing the voice is an act of expanding the area of influence of the atomic assemblies by several hundreds of meters temporarily. And furthermore, the humans also have sensors capable of perceiving any kind of Dynamic H-Waves, as long as they are lower than 20.000 Hz. These sensors are what we call the [Ears]. Under Wave Science, the Ears are thought of as a prepared instrument that acts as a checksum for confirming the Dynamic H-Waves (Will) that we ourselves release.
The H-Waves - "Will" and "Feelings"[]
定常H波を「意志」となれば、導体H波は「想 い」と訳することができる。人間の原子核の集 合体は定常H波を内包しているため、人間に意 志があることは、科学的にも証明できる。 ソル・シエールでの研究によると、人間は 1Hz～5.28x10^11Hzの導体H波を表現でき ることが解明されている。しかし、高周波数帯 になればなるほど、H波(想い)の強さは極端 にその必要量を増していくという。具体的な事 象を例に挙げると、本能的(潜在的)なもので ある「一途な想い」や、「衝動的に行動してしま う想い」といったものほど、高エネルギーの導 体H波を生み出している事になる。 一方で、声に対する意志の干渉がどういった 影響を及ぼすかを考えてみよう。同じ文章を 朗読するとき、強い想いで読むのと、淡白な朗 読では、前者の方がより人の心に響く。つまり、 前者の「想いを込めた言葉」に載った導体H波 は、想いのぶんだけ強力なエネルギーを持つ て受け手の定常H波に激突し、波動の干渉を 発生させるわけだ。人は一般に視点によって 物事を判断するため、「動く」といえば物が目に 見えて動く(導体D波の干渉)ことに注目しがち だが、このように「心が動く」と日頃から言葉を 使っているように、目に見えない心の動き(導 体H波の干渉)も意識しているのである。 また、定常H波は声以外でも様々な場面で 存在に触れることができる。身近な例でいえ ば、本や絵がそうだ。これらの無機物も原子核 の集合体だが、それらを創造した人の波動が 干渉して産まれた、定常H波によって構成され ている。このように、「意志」や「想い」を意味す るH波は、至るところに存在しているのだ。
If we can call the Static H-Waves the [Will], then we can also call the Dynamic H-Waves the [Feelings]. Because the human atomic assemblies are comprised of Static H-Waves, the humans also have a Will, as we can prove under Wave Science.
According to the researches conducted in Sol Ciel, it has been explained that the humans are able to express Dynamic H-Waves in a range that goes from 1 Hz to 5.28x10^11 Hz. However, if they were to become waves from the highest frequencies, their H-Waves (feelings) would need to increase their strength in extremely great quantities. As for an example of things would be raise to raise the strength of the H-Waves, we can say things such as the instinctive (potential) [earnest feelings] and [impulsive feelings], which are what in the end produce Dynamic H-Waves containing great quantities of energy.
We can try to think about what kind of influence its exercised by the voice of a person causing interferences in the Will of others. When both read the same sentence aloud, one reading it with strong feelings, and the other one reading it plainly, the former one will resound more to the hearts of the people. Basically, it's because the Dynamic H-Waves of the first person were spread in the [words filled with feelings], and the more feelings they contain, the stronger is the energy they will have when they clash with the Static H-Waves of the receiver, meaning this will create wave interferences. Because of the judgement that all of the people generally make from their own viewpoints, we will notice with our eyes what we call the [movement] (the interferences of the Dynamic D-Waves), however, though we normally say that [I'm moved], we are also conscious that we can't see the moving of the heart (the interference of the Dynamic H-Waves)
Still, the Static H-Waves can be moved by many other things besides the voice. For some familiar examples, we could say the books or the movies. All of these can be eitherinorganic substances or atomic assemblies, but all of them created the humans, and both produced the human wave interferences, and they are what end forming the Static H-Waves. All of this can be resumed in that the [Will] and the [Feelings] are H-Waves, and they are present in every thing we can see.

これまでの講座内容では、人間はD波を見 ることで知覚し、H波を発する・知覚する術を 持っていることを題材とした。これはすなわち、 人間の原子核の集合体は、導体D波自体を発 することができないことも意味している。 しかし、人間はこれを「唄石」によって解決し た。唄石は、優れた導体H波の吸収源であるた め「声」のエネルギーを無駄なく蓄え、優れた 導体D波の発生源であるために、そのエネルギ ーを物理的に作用させることができるのだ。 唄石を発見した人間は、声によって導体D波 を創造しようとしたが、残念ながら効果は微弱 だった。人が発する導体H波はすぐ揺れてしま い、強い想いを制御することができないのだ。 そして生まれたのが、「レーヴァテイル」である。
So far, we have seen that the themes of this lecture were the capacity the humans have to see the D-Waves, and their ability of perceiving and emitting H-Waves. However, this actually means that the human atomic assemblies are not capable of emitting the Dynamic D-Waves themselves. However, the humans found a solution to this with the discovery of the [Songstones]. Because the Songstones are able to absorb with a good range the Dynamic H-Waves from any given source, and after storing the energy of the [voice], it can also release them converted into Dynamic D-Waves with an equally good range, effectively manifesting that energy into the physical world, and allowing them to be used. Once the humans discovered the Songstones, they became able to create Dynamic D-Waves at will, but unfortunately, its overall effects were too weak to be used in a greater scope. It also was discovered that the Dynamic H-Waves the humans released were filled with fluctuations, thus making them unable to control the power their feelings could generate. This eventually led to the creation of the [Reyvateils].
The Reyvateils and the Waves[]
自らの限界に気づいた人間は、D波とH波に ついて深く研究し、2つの波の理論に基づいて レーヴァテイルを創造した。レーヴァテイルを 構成する生体維持サイクルは、無数の波動の なかでもD波とH波のみにできている。それ ゆえに、7波集合体である人間よりも機関がシ ンプルで邪念が起きにくい。つまり、シンプル であるがゆえに、1つのプロセスを正確無比 に行うことに関しては、人間とは比較にならな いほど高性能なのである。また、人間の脳は そのほとんどが覚醒していないと言われるが、 レーヴァテイルにそういう現象はありえない。 参考までに、科学的にレーヴァテイルを解説 すると、以下のようになる。 人間はD波とH波を主成分とする、7種類の 波動エネルギーによって構成され、各波の周 波数帯域は1Hz～5.28x10^11Hzであること を突き止めた。すなわち、人間の発する周波 数は5.28x10^11Hzを限界としており、例え ば人間の生存力や愛といった感情もここに限 界がある。どんなに悟りを開いても、愛を追求 しても、人間の波動が5.28x10^11Hzを超え ることは物理的にありえないのである。 この限界は、人間のH波をスキャニングして 作られた、いわば「特定能力に特化した人間の クローン」であるレーヴァテイルもまた同様だ。 そして、レーヴァテイルたちの心や記憶はコス モスフィアという形でアルトネリコに保存され ており、そのうち1.16x10^8Hzまでが個別意 識、それより高周波の部分を集合意識と定義 されている。さらに、そのコスモスフィアのす べての領域が、パラメノ盤によって塔と直結さ れており、想いをダイレクトに物理変換するこ とが可能になっているのだ。それによりレーヴ ァテイルたちは、コスモスフィアによって開拓 された自身の限界値周波数帯域に応じた波動 (詩、つまり導体H波)をアルトネリコに送り、詩 魔法(アルトネリコによって導体D波に変換さ れたエネルギー)という奇跡を紡ぎ出すことが できるのである。 ここで、メタ・ファルスで創造された改良種、 I.P.D.レーヴァテイルについても触れておこ う。I.P.D.は一般的なレーヴァテイルよりもさ らに個別意識が浅く創られており、2.0x 10^4Hz～5.4x10^7Hzとなっている。それよ り奥にあたる部分は、Eスポットとしてリザーブ されれ仕組みだ。これは、彼女たちが「メタフ ァリカを謳うために創られたレーヴァテイル」 ゆえの特性である(P.091参照)。なお、個別 意識の上限が低いからといって、絶対的に詩魔 法の効果が劣るということはない。I.P.D.の最 大実効値の低下は開発当初から指摘されてい たが、I.P.D.専用ヒュムノス「新約パスタリエ」 によって改善されている。これにより、効果、 時間ともに同一周波数で紡がれた一般的レ ーヴァテイルのヒュムノスよりも、むしろ優れ ているという結果を生み出しているのである。
Once the Humans realized about their own limits, they began to research the H-Waves and D-Waves more deeply, and basing their theories on these two kinds of waves, they created the Reyvateils. And for maintaining the life cycle in their bodies, they made them so they needed only D-Waves and H-Waves, among the innumerable kinds of waves that may exist, to continue living. This is why they are a more simple version of the humans, who are constituted by seven different kinds of waves, and also, this is the reason behind being hard for the Reyvateils to come up with evil ideas. The reason behind this simplicity is related to being able to perform a process with extreme accuracy, making the Reyvateils so efficient that they effectively can't be compared with the Humans. Still, there are some phenomenon that are said to be impossible to cause in the human brains, and they can't happen in the Reyvateils either.
And from now, we shall be explaining about the Reyvateils as they are seen in an scientific way.
The main components that form the humans are the energies from seven different kinds of waves, with every one of these waves located in frequency bands that are between 1 Hz and 5.28x10^11 Hz. This also means that all the waves emitted by the humans, such as their vital energy, love, or any emotions, reach their limits at the 5.28x10^11 mark. No matter how much you fall in love, or how much enlightened you might be, the human waves can't cross the 5.28x10^11 frequency band, since that is a physical impossibility.
Because of this limit, the humans created the Reyvateils by scanning their own H-Waves, and made them similar to them, like if they were [clones of the humans, specialized in particular abilities].
And the memories and minds of the Reyvateils are preserved in Ar tonelico through a shape called the Cosmosphere, in which their Individual Consciousnesses are located in the frequency bands up to 1.16x10^8Hz, while any frequency band higher this is where their Common Consciousnesses are located. Furthermore, in all of the areas of the Cosmospheres, they are able to give a physical shape to all of their emotions, thanks to their direct connection to the Tower through the Parameno Discs. And more importantly, the Reyvateils are able to craft miracles called Song Magic (the conversion of Energy into Dynamic D-Waves through Ar tonelico) by sending their feelings to Ar tonelico (their Songs, which are essentially Dynamic H-Waves), which are created in response to their waves reaching a peak by cultivating their Cosmospheres.
And now, we will talk about the enhanced breed of Reyvateils created in Metafalss, the IPDs. They are different from the Standard Reyvateils by the fact that their Individual Consciousnesses were structered in a more shallow way, given that they are located in the frequency bands ranging from 2.0x10^4 Hz to 5.4x10^7 Hz. In the deeper bands, they were structured to have an special energy reserve called the E-Spot, which is their special characteristic as the [Reyvateils that were created to sing Metafalica](more details on page 91). However, having their consciousness limit lower than the other Reyvateils doesn't hamper at all the effects of their Song Magic. This, which was considered the biggest design failure of the IPDs, was discovered during their development stage, and ended being fixed thanks to the creation of the Hymmnos dialect used exclusively by the IPDs: the [New Testament of Pastalie].
And more importantly, they demonstrated that their Songs are more effective when compared to the ones used by the Standard Reyvateils, both time and effect-wise, since the IPDs could sing songs of an specific level faster and with better effects than the ones used by the Standard Reyvateils of the same level.
The Atomic Nuclei [Sing][]
詩は、万物に通じる。エクサピーコから無機 物に至るまで、すべての原子核の集合体は「謳 っている」からだ。これは「絶え間なく波動を 照射している」とも言える。逆説的に言えば、 あらゆる原子核の集合体は、謳い続けていな いと、自らが創った子を維持できないのだ。 詩魔法を例に挙げると、瑠珈の回復詩魔法 「三角鋼音」は、謳っている間は少女の姿を見 せているが、謳うのを止めた瞬間に消滅する。 これは、瑠珈が発していた導体H波(厳密には アルトネリコから反響した導体D波)が消滅した ためだ。三角鋼音を形作る導体D波が消えると、 そこは「惑星アルシエルとそれを内包する大い なる宇宙が発する導体D波」が支配する空間 (=空中)に戻る。なぜなら、三角鋼音には惑星 アルシエルの意志は関与していないからだ。惑 星アルシエルにあるすべての存在は、惑星アル シエルが謳うことで産まれた導体D波である。 それ以外のものは、惑星アルシエルによって 「存在を赦されている」のだ。とはいえ、惑星ア ルシエルの意志は、謳っている間はこの世界の 仲間として認知してくれる。だから、謳っている 間だけ三角鋼音は存在できるわけだ。 本来、自然界のものは、創造者が消えただ けでは存在を抹消されない。例えば掃除機は、 掃除機の製造者が死んでも消えない。なぜな ら、そもそもその掃除機は、惑星アルシエルの 資源から創られており、製造者以前に、惑星の 意志も介在しているためだ。もっとも、惑星ア ルシエルは「掃除機の形状」には介在しないの で、掃除機は風化してしまうか。 このように、万物は謳っている。すべては、 詩の上に成り立っている世界なのである(4図)。
The Songs go through all the creation. This is because all of the atomic assemblies [are singing], starting with Exa Pico and ending in the inorganic substances. This is said to happen because [they are exposed incessantly to the waves]. As paradoxical as this might sound, if the atomic assemblies did not continue to sing, they would be unable to preserve the existence of their child assemblies. Taking an example from Song Magic, more precisely: Luca's restoration song magic [Triangle Tune]. While Luca sings the song, we can see the figure of a girl appear, but once Luca stops singing, the figure of the girl disappears in just an instant. This is because Luca stopped sending the Dynamic H-Waves that maintained the existence of Triangle Tune (or more strictly speaking, the Dynamic D-Waves that Ar tonelico released in response to her Dynamic H-Waves). And since the Dynamic D-Waves that formed her disappeared, she returns to the space (the sky) controlled by the [Dynamic D-Waves that are released from the great universe containing the Planet of Ar Ciel]. This is because Triangle Tune is not related anymore to the Will of Ar Ciel. All of the existences that are still over the Planet of Ar Ciel exist because of the Dynamic D-Waves that were produced by the singing of the Planet. All the other existences that may appear over it are allowed to be just because the Planet of Ar Ciel [allowed them to exist]. However, the Will of the Planet Ar Ciel will only recognize Triangle Tune as a friend during the time that Luca continues singing. That is why Triangle Tune cannot continue existing once Luca has stopped singing. Essentially, this is a law of nature, though the existence will not disappear only if its creator vanishes away. For example, a vacuum cleaner will not disappear, no matter if its inventor passes away. This is because, in the first place, the vacuum cleaner was created with the resources of Ar Ciel, so the inventor already made a mediation with the Will of the Planet. But from the viewpoint of the planet, the vacuum cleaner will end weathering because there wasn't any mediation about [preserving its vacuum cleaner condition]? Like this, all the things in the creation are singing. All of them, are what forms this world shaped by the songs (pic. 4).

An item, such the [Walking Gergo] created by Cloche, was created out from the raw materials of Ar Ciel, so it has received all the love from this star system. Because of that, no matter if Cloche dies or if Ar Ciel is destroyed, it will continue existing. However, a Song Magic, such as [Triangle Tune], is made from mechanical D-Wave interferences, and since it was created from a disruption in the natural order of the Planet, it cannot receive love from anything besides Luca. Because of that, Triangle Tune will disappear as soon as Luca stops singing.
The Only Love of the Second Tower[]
メタ・ファルス地域の第二塔は、ソル・マルタ が照射する導体D波のみで存在している。人間 は視覚・聴覚などのD波を重視するため、この D波成分だけで構成された建造物を疑問視す ることなく住み着いた。しかし本来、こんな不 自然な物体は惑星アルシエルには存在しない。 アルシエルの愛が介在しないこの奇妙な物体 は、ただフレリアの愛によってのみ支えられて いる。フレリアの詩が止まれば、この物体はた ちまち元の状態(=空)に戻ってしまうわけだ。
The Second Tower, located in Metafalss, only continues existing because it is being exposed to the Dynamic D-Waves emitted from Sol Marta. Because the humans can perceive the D-Waves by various means, such as hearing and seeing, they settled down upon it, without even starting the doubt if this place was actually structured by just D-Waves. However, in reality, this artificial structure does not exist over the Planet Ar Ciel. And because it is an strange body that was not mediated with the love of Ar Ciel, it is supported only by Frelia's love. This means that if Frelia stopped singing (supporting) it, this structure would return instantly to its original state (in other words, it would vanish into thin air).
The Love of the World[]
惑星アルシエルは、700年以上の長きにわ たって、自らの波動のなかに存在する不自然な D波の集合体(塔)を受け入れてきた。フレリア が謳い続けてきたことで、塔は惑星アルシエル の仲間になったともいえる。塔の上には、まる で大地のように植物が生え、水で潤っている。 そう、惑星アルシエルは、この異質な塔すらも 自然に受け入れてきた。そして、この無償の愛 こそが世界の愛なのだ。その頂点にあるエク サピーコは、宇宙の万物を赦しつづけている。
The Planet Ar Ciel, during more than 700 years has accepted an artificial assembly of D-Waves among its own waves, and this is because of Frelia's singing. As long as Frelia continues singing, we can say that the Tower is a "friend" of the Planet Ar Ciel. Over the Tower, we can see that plants grow like if there was land, and they are nurtured by water. Yes, this means that the Planet has accepted the strange Towers as if they were a natural part of it. This love that does not require any compensation is "the love of the world", which is represented at its peak by Exa Pico, which continues allowing to exist to all the things in the Universe.

Now, we shall return to the start of the second section of this lecture: [The Laws of the World]. The atomic assemblies of both Exa Pico and the humans are exactly the same, the humans are formed by cells within their bodies, and as if it was to allow them to live as they wished, the laws of the world connect everything in an equal way. Exa Pico, and more precisely, Ar Ciel, exist because that is the Will of the Universe. And since Exa Pico is receiving the love of this [World], that means there should be others. That also means that there might be another atomic assemblies that were created like Exa Pico: by the Big Bang that gave birth to the Universe.

講座の最後に、惑星アルシエルにおいて発 展の根底を支えたヒュムノスについて解説す る。ヒュムノスは大別して3種類あり、そのう ちで唯一人間が口にできるのが「ヒュムノスス ペル」だ。これは文法的には「ヒュムノスワード」 と同じだが、一種の呪文列であり、塔に登録さ れた特定の文章だけを利用できる。残る2つ、 「ヒュムノス・エクストラクト」と「ヒュムノス・ ワード」については、より深く解説していこう。 この2つは、一見するとどちらも「詩を謳う →塔の力で何かが発動する」という同様の効果 を持っている。簡単に言えば、ワードとはレー ヴァテイルの妄想の具現化だ。対してエクスト ラクトとは、塔そのものをコントロールするヒ ュムノスだが、よりシステマチックな、無機的 な詩となっている。というものも、エクストラク トは純粋なレーヴァテイルの想いではなく、 「想い(導体H波」を信号とした、人工的な処 理が介在するためだ。この差は、詩の難易度に 直結している。ワードは自分の想いを詩に込め るだけなので、まず失敗はしない。一方でエク ストラクトは自分以外の想いを紡ぐことにな る。詩の想いによって心が制御されるため、詩 の想いが強すぎる場合、レーヴァテイルの精神 が負けて崩壊することもありうるのである。
Now, to finish with this lecture, we shall explain about the Hymmnos, which are the roots of all the advancements made in Ar Ciel. There three major kinds of Hymmnos, and the people is able to use just one kind among them, the [Hymmnos Spells]. While in grammar they are identical to the [Hymmnos Words], they are also one special kind of command lines that were recorded in the systems of the Tower, and they can be used just for specific functions. The other two remaining kinds, which are the [Hymmnos Extracts] and [Hymmnos Words], will be explained more deeply here.
At a glance, these two other kinds seem to have the same principle of [Singing a song -> executing something through the power of the Tower]. Putting it simply, the Hymmnos Words are the embodiment of the feelings of the Reyvateil, while on the contrary, the Extracts are Hymmnos used for controlling the Tower, and as such, they feel like very inorganic and systematic songs.
Thus, we can say that the Extracts aren't made out from the pure feelings of the Reyvateil, because they are an inorganic mediation process executed by special signals made from [Feelings (Dynamic H-Waves). This difference has a direct relation with the difficulty level of singing each one of these kinds of songs. The Words are songs made from their own feelings, so failing at using them is simply impossible, while the Extracts are songs crafted out from feelings taken from other sources. Because the feelings of these songs can control the minds and hearts of the Reyvateils, if the song is too powerful for her, the mind of the Reyvateil will most likely collapse under the excessive pressure.
The Structure of the Hymmnos Extracts[]
エクストラクトを使うためには、ヒュムネク リスタルからヒュムノス・エクストラクトをダウ ンロード(心に刻む)する必要がある。単純な 例としては、ヒュムネクリスタルがゲームソフ ト、レーヴァテイルがハードディスク、アルトネ リコがゲームハードだと思えばいい。このとき、 エクストラクトの要求する導力を謳い手が出せ るか、という問題と、設計者の「想い」をしかと 刻めるかという問題が発生する。前者は、瑠珈 がEXEC_VIENA/.を紡ぐ際にフレリアの力を 借りたのがよい例だろう。オリジン専用エクス トラクトであるヴィーナは、瑠珈単体では謳え ない。後者は、レーヴァテイルが想いに共感し やすいよう「物語」が詩に封入されている。こ の例はP.126以降のページに詳しい。
To use an Hymmnos Extract, it's indispensable to have Downloaded (engraved it into the mind) said Extract from a Hymn Crystal. To put it in a simpler way, we could think of the Hymn Crystals as game cartridges or discs, the Reyvateils as hard discs, and Ar tonelico as a game console. It's a this time that a problem may make present itself, which might be the Symphonic Power that the Extract demands to be executed to the singer, or if [feelings] that the crafter put into the crystal can be engraved into the mind of the downloader. For the former, we can cite as a good example the time in which Luca crafted EXEC_VIENA/. by borrowing Frelia's power. Since Viena is an Origin-Exclusive Extract, Luca would have been unable to sing it by herself. For the later problem, that depends on if the feelings of the Reyvateil are able to sympathize easily with the [story] that is enclosed inside of the Song. You can see detailed examples of said stories from Page 126 and onwards.
The Power Relationship of the Dynamic H-Waves[]
ワードの場合、導体H波はレーヴァテイルが 任意に送信するため、塔から何かの要求がくる ことはない。レーヴァテイルは、自分自身の意 識と無意識とで、導体H波の流量(=想いの強 さ)を制御している。それが可能となるのは、 ワードがレーヴァテイルの責任下のみで発動 するヒュムノスだからだ。 一方、エクストラクトはそれで収まらない。 「他人の想い」を受け入れるエクストラクトは、 自分自身で導体H波を制御できないためだ。 EXEC_HYMME_SANKAKU=HAGANE/. (三角鋼音)を例に挙げると、これは瑠珈が自 分自身で紡ぎだした詩のため、必要な導体H波 流量は自身の無意識のうちに設定している。こ こでは、瑠珈自身のキャパシティは関係ない。 しかし、これがエクストラクトとなると、もし レーヴァテイルの許容量を超えた詩をダウンロ ードしてしまった場合、悲劇となる。自らの限界 を超える導体D波を要求されたレーヴァテイル は、精神を破壊されて死に至ってしまうのだ。 この問題は、第一紀ではほぼ発生しなかっ た。群を抜くパワーを持つオリジンと、能力が 均一であるベータ純血種しかおらずエクスト ラクトには「オリジン専用」と「汎用」しかなか ったためだ。ところが、第三世代のレーヴァテ イルは混血によって固体差が顕著になり、レー ヴァテイルとしての素質に大差が出てしまった。 もっとも、第三世代はヒュムノス・エクスト ラクトをダウンロードする権限を持たないた め、そもそもダウンロードできないという面も ある。このため、第三紀ではエクストラクトを 謳ったことがある第三世代は皆無なのである。
In the case of the Words, since they are Dynamic D-Waves sent voluntarily by the Reyvateil, the Tower doesn't have anything to request from her. This is because the Reyvateil herself controls, both consciously and unconsciously, the flow of the Dynamic H-Waves (the strength of her feelings). So as you might be able to figure out by yourself, this is a Hymmnos whose execution depends exclusively on the Reyvateil herself.
On the other hand, the Extracts aren't handled so simply. Given that they are essentially receiving the [Feelings of Another Person], the Reyvateil herself can't control the flow of the Dynamic H-Waves.
Using EXEC_HYMME_TRIANGLE=TUNE/. (Triangle Tune) as an example, we can see that this is a song that Luca crafted, and as such, Luca herself decides the necessary flow of the Dynamic H-Waves unconsciously. So this is not dependant at all on Luca's capacity.
However, when it comes to the Extracts, the Reyvateil is burdened with flow demands from the Extract and the Tower, and if a song whose power surpasses the capacity of the receiving Reyvateil by too much is Downloaded into her, it would become a tragedy: the Reyvateil would be burdened with demands for Dynamic H-Waves that go beyond her limits, and this would cause her mind to break up and collapse completely, leading to her death.
This problem didn't happen during the First Era, because back then, only the Origins, whose powers surpass those of all the other Reyvateils, and the Pureblooded Beta-Types, who had very uniform abilities, existed.
And because of that, there were only two kinds of Extracts: the [Origin-Exclusive] Extracts, and the [General Use] Extracts. However, when the Third Generation Reyvateils, with their mixed blood appeared, it became obvious that there were differences among them, even going as far as there being a tremendous disparity between their abilities.
However, since the Third Generations don't have by nature the authority needed to perform the Downloads, they aren't able to perform them at all. Because of this, during the Third Era, no Third Generations had to sing any Hymmnos Extracts (until the start of Ar tonelico 1).
