ソル・クラスタの世界

The World of Sol Cluster

本作の舞台となるソル・クラスタ地方は、第三塔を擁する地域
だ。700年前に発生した七つの血痕事件で大地は破壊された
が、この地に住む人々は現在でもたくましく生活している。

The area of Sol Cluster, which serves as the setting for this game, is pretty much the region owned by the Third Tower. While the land was destroyed by the Seven Bloodstains incident from 700 years ago, the people that inhabit it continue living strongly in it even now.


 ソル・クラスタは惑星アルシエルの一地方であり、第
一塔が存在するソル・シエールの対極に位置している。
そして、700年前に発生した七つの血痕事件により滅亡
した国があった場所でもある。第一紀には、この地にソ
ル・クラスタ連合国の1つ、シェスティネという国があっ
た。連合国の中では最も辺境に位置する小さな国だった
が、ソル・シエールにとって脅威となりうる存在だった。
 シェスティネは、世界でも珍しいテル族主体の国家だ。
異能の民・テル族は自然主義を掲げ、ソル・シエールの
科学実利主義と対立していた。これをソル・シエールの
大国、エル・エレミアが支配しようとしたため、ソル・クラ
スタ極西戦線が勃発。七つの血痕事件へと発展した。
 第三塔は、七つの血痕事件で大地に穿たれた七つの
穴の真ん中付近のちょうど真上、高度4000ストンの場
所に存在している。外観は、巨大なレールガンを模して
いるが、銃口の側は大地に向がって真下を向いて死の
雲海に埋もれているため、一見しただけでは銃の形をし
ているようには見えない。また、本体の上下それぞれ三
分の一の範囲は、巨大な光のラインに縁取られている。
この光のラインは塔が未完成であることを示すもので、
ラインの部分は完成した塔の図面にあたるものである。
当然ながら、これらの部分が未完成のままでは完全は状
態で塔を稼働することはできない。しかし、現状では、光
のラインの部分を物理体にするには、導力が絶対的に不
足している状態だ。
 普段人々が見ている部分は、レールガンの柄の側で
ある。銃口の側は死の雲海を突き抜け、遙か下の方にま
で延びている。柄の側には、導力を集積させるためのカ
イラ吸収板と呼ばれるパラボラが下に向けて開い
り、それはさながらドーム状の屋根のようにも見える。

Sol Cluster is one of the regions of Ar Ciel, and exists exactly on the opposite side of the planet from Sol Ciel, where the First Tower is located. Furthermore, it also housed a country that was destroyed due to the Seven Bloodstains incident that happened 700 years ago. During the First Era, this place was where one of the countries of the Sol Cluster Alliance: Syestine, was located. While it was an small country located in the most remote areas of the Alliance's territories, it was considered as a very possible threat by Sol Ciel.

Syestine was the country that had the highest population of the unusual Teru Tribe in its territories. The race with supernatural abilities, the Teru, which advocated living on naturalism and opposed to the ideologies of Sol Ciel, which were based on science and utilitarianism. This clash of ideologies, and the intentions that the largest nation from Sol Ciel, El Elemia, had to control Syestine, were the cause for the beginning of the West War with Sol Cluster, which later on caused the Seven Bloodstains incident.

The Third Tower was built above and exactly in the center of one of the seven holes that were left by the Seven Bloodstains, and has a height of 4000 Stons. Its external appearance is fashioned after a railgun, but given that the muzzle is pointing towards the land's surface and it's covered by the Sea of Death, it apparently doesn't look like a gun. Also, while the Tower is composed by three main parts, you might have noticed some gigantic lines of light bordering it. These lines of light indicate the points in which the Tower was left incomplete, and these parts serve to indicate how the complete Tower was drawn in the blueprints. Naturally, until these incomplete parts have been materialized, the Tower won't be able to operate to its full capacity. However, due to the absolute insufficiency of Symphonic Power, it isn't possible to turn these parts made of lines of light into physical matter.

The parts that the people normally see are the grip of the railgun. The muzzle penetrates through the Sea of Death, and extends much farther below it. Also, you might be able to see a few of parabolic antennae open, dome-shaped and pointing downwards in the upper parts of the grip, which are called the Kaira Absorption Discs and serve to gather Symphonic Power.

完成していない。完全に実体化しているの
は中央の三分の一の簸囲だけで、それ以外
の部分は来完成のままだ。実体化している
部分には塔を縦に貫く鉄道、グランヴァート
ゲージが走る。図は塔の外観とグランヴァー
トゲージの駅の位置関係を示したものだ。

The Third Tower was created in an incomplete form, and it hasn't been completed even now. Only a third of the Tower was completely materialized, while the rest of the parts have different rates of incompleteness. Among the parts that were completed, we have the railroad that runs throughout the Tower: the Granvert Gauge. In the map, you can see how the Tower's exterior and the stations of the Granvert Gauge are related to each other.

塔の外縁施設

The Facilities in the Exterior of the Tower

 第三塔の外側には、2つの施設が存在し、それぞ
れが重要な機能を持っている。塔の中ほど、ガルベ
ルト鉄柱橋付近にあるのが彩音回廊(いおんかいろ
う)だ。これは第一塔にも存在している7つの響板
で、気候や重力の制御を行なうウェザーコントロー
ラーの機能を持つ。
 もう1つの施設は、塔A区画のアーデルベルグ緩
衝帯付近に浮遊している工トの丘である。これは塔
の傾きを常に一定に調整するバランサーの役割を
果たす。さらに、第三塔は他の塔と違って惑星を再
生するための設備を持っており、その中核ともいえ
る施設が、惑星のコアに直接ダイブマシンを射ち込
んで惑星と対話を行なうXPシェルだ。惑星のコアに
XPシェルを射出する際は、塔がコアに対して鉛直
である必要がある。そのために塔を正しい角度に保
つための施設がエトの丘なのだ。エトの丘は、塔とは
少し離れたところに浮遊し、常にアルシエルの中心
をポイントしているため、照門とも呼ばれる。

There are two facilities in the exterior of the Second Tower, each one of them having their own important functions. Near the Garvelt Bridge, which is located near the center of the Tower, you can see the Musical/Ion Corridor. It's similar to the one in the First Tower, and thanks to its seven Resonance Boards, it has the functions of a weather controller, capable of controlling weather and gravity.

The other facility is the Hill of Et, floating near the area of the Tower Sector-A, where the Ardelberg Buffer Band is located, and it serves as a fixed regulation balancer that keeps the Tower from inclining too much. Furthermore, since the Third Tower was designed to regenerate the Planet, it has other facilities the other Towers lack, the main of them being the XP Shell, which once it has been shot into the Planetary Core, serves as Dive Machine for directly conversing with the Planet. When the time for shooting the XP Shell into the Planetary Core comes, it's necessary that the Tower is aligned perpendicularly to the Core. That is the reason for the existence for the Hill of Et: to always keep the Tower aligned in the right angle. Given that the Hill of Et flows a little away from the Tower, and is always pointing to the Core of Ar Ciel, we could even call it an aiming device for the railgun.

A区画(塔上層部)

Sector A (Uppermost Area of the Tower)

 モジュール・ハ一ヴェスターシャより上の部分をA区画
と称する。基本的に人間やレーヴァテイルにとってはクラ
スタニアが塔の最上部であり、グランヴァートゲージのレ
ールもここまで届いていない。A区画へは徒歩で塔を登
る必要があり、人が出入りすることはほとんどない。

The Tower areas located above the Module Harvestasha are known as Sector A. Given that both to the humans and Reyvateils Clustania is the top of the Tower, the rails of the Granvert Gauge don't reach this area. The only way to reach Sector A is by climbing the Tower on foot, so almost no one ever comes to this area.

クウ

Ku

 塔の最頂点にあたる非常に狭い区画。クウとは「空」
を意味する。クウには、塔のバイナリ野にダイブして調
整を行なう、緊急用のメンテナンス・ダイブポッドが設置
されており、塔全体を管理する人工知能ハ一ヴエスター
シャは、ここから侵入して調整するしかない。ティリアが
簡単には到達できないこの場所に重要な施設を配置し
たのも、セキュリティを堅固にするためである。なお、メ
ンテナンス・ダイブポッドを起動するコックは、みすぼら
しく見えるオブジェクトに組み込まれておリ、創造者のテ
ィリアの独特なセンスが感じられる一品となっている。

An extremely small area located at the very top of the Tower. Ku means [Sky]. In this place it's possible to Dive and execute modifications in the Tower's Binary Field, due to having an emergency Maintenance Dive Pod installed. Likewise, it's possible to invade and modify Harvestasha, the AI that administrates all of the Tower, only in this place. Tyria made this place so hard to reach due to having deployed such an important facility here, and due to strengthening the security in the Tower. By the way, the cockpit for operating the Maintenance Dive Pod is hidden within a pretty shabby-looking object, which also makes it a facility in which the unique sense of the creator, Tyria, can be felt.

Ku
クウのメンテナンス・ダイブポッド起動システム。塔の最頂点に存
在する重要な施設であり、非常に地味な外観を持つ。

The system for operating the Maintenance Dive Pod in Kuu. Despite being a very important facility located at the very top of the Tower, it has an extremely plain appearance.

リンカーネイション

Rinkernator

 塔全体の導力管理を行なう施設で、塔の管理者の世
代交代にも使われる。第一塔と第三塔の両方に存在して
おリ、いずれも同様の機能を持つ。第一塔のリンカーネ
イションは塔の頂点にあったが、第三塔ではクウの下部
に位置している。第一塔では、ミュールのウイルス攻撃
を受けた管理者のシュレリア(エオリア)が、世界を守る
ために塔と自分自身を休眠状態にしたが、管理者の交代
は行なわれながったため、第一塔は一時的に管理者不在
の状態となった。なお、第二塔は最初から管理者が不在
であるため、リンカーネイション自体が存在していない。
 リンカーネイションは、塔全体の電源のON/OFFを
切り替えるプラグ部分と、管理者交代を行う移行手続
き用のタイブポッド2基で構成されている。プラグ部分
は、塔の上側と下側を繋ぐもので、交代作業時には一
時的に切り離されてOFFになる。プラグを外すと、その
内側がらダイブポットが現われ、プラグ部分を切り離し
て世代交代を行なう仕組みになっている。

This is the facility in which the Symphonic Power for all the Tower is controlled, and it's also used for the change of guard of the Administrators. Both the First and Third Towers have them, and both have similar functions. While the Rinkernator of the First Tower was located at the very top of the Tower, in the Third Tower it's located just below Ku. In the First Tower, due to the Administrator Shurelia (Eoria) having received an attack from Mir's viruses, she put herself and the Tower into an idle state to protect the world. However, since no Administrator guard change was performed at the time, the First Tower was left without any Administrators temporarily. By the way, since the Second Tower was never designed to have an actual Administrator, it doesn't have a Rinkernator either.

This Rinkernator is equipped with a plug part that can change the power source of the Tower "ON/OFF", and has two Dive Pods which are used to execute the Administrator guard change process. The plug part connects the lower and upper parts of the Tower, and it's disconnected during the guard change, shutting down the power source of the Tower. Once this happens, the Dive Pods will emerge from inside the plug, which shows that the plug was specifically designed for allowing the guard change upon its disconnection.

Rinkernator3
第三塔上層にあるリンカーネイション。ポッドの中にはティ
リアが眠っていた。ティリアはカテナの研究によってホログラ
フで投影された体を得て、アオトらに協力することになる。

The Rinkernator is located in the upper areas of the Third Tower. Tyria was sleeping inside one of its Pods. Thanks to Katene's research, Tyria received a new body projected as an holography, which allowed her to help Aoto and his friends.

グラスノプレート

Grathnode Plates

 詩魔法の魔力の源となる施設。導体H波を魔法のエネ
ルギーに変換し、放出するグラスノ製のこの円盤がある
からこそ、レーヴァテイルは詩魔法を謳うことができる。
 過去には詩魔法の力を脅威に感じた人間達によって、
何度もグラスノプレートの破壊工作が行なわれているが、
到達するだけでも至難な場所にあるだけに、これまで破
壊に成功した例はない。ただし、グラスノプレートが砕け
散ってもレーヴァテイルは詩魔法を使うことができる。た
とえ粉々になっても、その程度の機能は残るのである。
 本作の物語中では、グラスノプレートから発せられる導
力を一時的に遮断し、その隙をついてクラスタニアに侵
入するエピソードがある。しがし、この場合もグラスノプ
レートに干渉して機能を直接停止させたわけではない。

This is the facility that serves as the source of the magic power used in Song Magic. Because they are Grathnode discs that convert the Dynamic H-Waves into magical energy, and then release it, they are what allow the Reyvateils to sing their Song Magic.

In the past, the humans felt threatened by the power of Song Magic, and many times attempted to build machines that allowed them to destroy the Grathnode Plates, but because they were located in such an inaccessible place, all of their attempts ended in failure. However, even if the Grathnode Plates were broken in pieces, the Reyvateils would still be able of using Song Magic. This is because their functions still remain, even if they are shattered into small pieces.

During the game, the Symphonic Power released from the Grathnode Plates is temporarily cut, which is what ends triggering the invasion of Clustania by Archia. However, in this case, this doesn't mean that the functions of the Grathnode Plates were being interfered and stopped directly.

Grathnode Plates
塔の最上層部、リンカーネイション付近を囲む天使のの輪のようなも
のがグラスノプレートだ。グラスノプレートは魔力を魔法として放出
する機能を持つもので、詩魔法の発動に欠かすことができない。

The Grathnode Plates are the rings similar to an angel's halo that surround the higher parts of the Tower, next to the Rinkernator. Because they have the property of releasing magic power, they are an indispensable part of the execution of Song Magic.

アーデルベルグ緩衝帯

Ardelberg Buffer Band

 導力を絶縁するアーデルという物質で構成された区
画。第一塔では氷の瞳と呼ばれていた。アーデルは、グラ
スノとパラメノの間に挟んで用い、導力の流れる向きを
一定にする効果を持つ。電子部品に使用される素材でい
えば、半導体に相当するものである。
 アーデルベルグ緩衝帯は、導力の整流を行うことと、
供給パワーを蓄積することの2つの機能を持つ。
 導力の整流とは、一度上に流れた導力が逆流しないよ
うにすることで、導力が逆流した場合は、大き被害が発
生する恐れがある。実際に、第一塔ではグラスノインフェ
リアの際にアーデルベルグ緩衝帯では防げない程の導力
の逆流が発生し、その結果、通常時には起こりえない量の
吸収が行なわれてエネルギー許容値を超え、グラスノ盤
が自己破砕してしまった。
 もうひとつの機能である供給パワーの蓄積は、グラスノ
プレートに供給される導力量を安定させる役割を持つ。あ
らかじめアーデルベルグ緩衝帯の中に導力を貯蓄してお
き、時にはその導力を使い、時にはそこに導力を蓄導す
る事で、導カプラグを経由してグラスノプレートに供給さ
れる導力量を安定化に導く。いわば、コンデンサーやキャ
パシタの役割である。導カプラグはグラスノプレートに供
給する導力量を常に計算しており、アーデルベルグ緩衝
帯から供給される導力は常に一定量を保ち、導力プラグ
側で、実際に供給する導力量をコントロールしている。
 なぜこのような調整が必要になるがといえば、グラスノ
プレートは非常に繊細で、許容量を超える導力を溜め込
むと簡単に砕けてしまうためだ。詩魔法があまり使われて
いないときは必要となる導力も少ないため、導力プラグ
の抵抗を大きくして流れる導力を制限し、過剰な導力が
グラスノプレートに流れないようにしているのである。
 抵抗が大きくなると空中放導が増えて稲妻が多くなり、
危険な状態になる。グラスノプレートだけでなくアーデル
ベルグ緩衝帯も脆い物質でできているため、空中放導の
スパークで機能不全に陥る危険性があるのだ。第一塔で
は、放導をアーデルベルグ緩衝帯を用いて行なっている
が、その方式では空中放導のスパークによってアーデル
ベルグ緩衝帯が壊れてしまう恐れがあるため、第三塔で
は放導を安全面を考慮し、導カプラグで行なっている。
 物語中では、導カプラグを使って一時的に導力を遮断
し、クラスタニア軍のレーヴァテイルを無力化するシーン
があるが、それを行えるのはティリアなど管理者権限を持
つ者のみである。導力プラグへのアクセスには精神世界
FFTスペクトラムのヒュムネコード領域を認証キーとして
使う為、コードを読み取る装置が制御室に存在している。

This is a section made from a special material called Ardel, which can isolate the Symphonic Power. In the First Tower, it was known as the Frozen Eye. When inserted between Grathnode and Parameno, Ardel has the effect of forcing the Symphonic Power to flow in an specific direction. If we had to mention some components similar to it in the electronics of our world, the most similar to it would be the semiconductors.

The roles the Ardelberg Buffer Band has are the rectification of the Symphonic Power, and storing part of the supplied power. The rectification of the Symphonic Power means that once it has flowed upwards, the power can't flow back down, because there is danger of that energy causing great damages if its flow ever reverted. In fact, when the Grathnode Inferia happened, the level of Symphonic Power in the First Tower was so great that the Ardelberg Buffer Band couldn't continue protecting it. Due to this, the energy began flowing backwards to the bottom of the Tower, and the consequences to this were that the absorption devices, which in normal times would have prevented this, absorbed energy beyond their permitted levels, and the Grathnode Discs destroyed themselves from emitting so much energy.

Its other function, the storing part of the supplied power, consists of stabilizing the Symphonic Power level that is provided to the Grathnode Plates. To begin with, the Ardelberg Buffer Band stores within itself part of the Symphonic Power that it's provided to it, sometimes using it, sometimes storing it, to send it to the Grathnode Plates via the Symphonic Power Plug to stabilize their energy levels. In other words, it has the same role as a condenser or a capacitor. The Symphonic Power Plug is constantly measuring the Symphonic Power levels that are sent to the Grathnode Plates, and it always keeps a constant amount of the Symphonic Power that is sent from the Ardelberg Buffer Band. In other words, the Symphonic Power Plug actually controls the level of the energy supplied to both facilities.

You might be wondering now why it was necessary to regulate the energy in this way, which we can answer as being due to the Grathnode Plates being extremely delicate. If they receive an amount of Symphonic Power beyond their tolerance levels, they will simply shatter away. Because the Symphonic Power demands are reduced when Song Magic isn't used very much, the resistors in the Symphonic Power Plug greatly reduce the amount of energy that can flow through it, so the excessive power won't flowing to the Grathnode Plates.

However, if the resistors absorb too much energy, they will begin emitting it in the atmosphere to the point of releasing it as multiple lightning in the sky, which turns them into a source of danger. Since both the Grathnode Plates and the Ardelberg Buffer Band are made from fragile materials, there is the risk that these released sparks could cause them to malfunction. While the First Tower releases the sparks through the use of its Ardelberg Buffer Band, because there was a risk of the Buffer Band being destroyed due to the sparks released through this method, this worried the researchers, which sought a safe method to release them, and decided to do so through the Symphonic Power Plug.

During the game, there is a scene in which the Symphonic Power Plug is used to temporarily cut the Symphonic Power and leave the Reyvateils from the Clustania Army powerless. However, such actions can only be done by people with the power of an Administrator, like Tyria herself. This because the access to the Symphonic Power Plug is done through the Hymn Code area of the FFT Spectrum of a Soulspace, which is used as an authentication key. Due to this, the Plug is also equipped with a control room that has the appropriate equipment for reading the Codes.

Ardelberg Buffer Band
アーデルベルグ緩衝帯は、ティリアの頭部を模した構造物のティリ
アヘッドのすぐ上に位置している。グラスノプレートに送る導力の
方向や、導力を安定させる機能を持つ施設で、グラスノプレートと
同じくレーヴァテイルの詩魔法発動に欠かせないものである。

The Ardelberg Buffer Band is located immediately above the Tyria Head, the structure that imitates Tyria's head. As the facility that has the function of sending the Symphonic Power in the direction of the Grathnode Plates and stabilizing it, it's also an indispensable part of the system that the Reyvateils use to execute their Song Magic, same as the Grathnode Plates.

B区画(居住区)

Sector B (Residential Area)

 塔の居住区。住人はほぼレーヴァテイルで、クレンジ
ングを受けていない人間は基本的にニェハル信号所よ
り上の区画に入ることが許されない。B区画にはクラス
タニアとアルキアの2つの国家が存在するが、それぞ
れの説明はP.110からの地理解説を参照してほしい。

The residential area of the Tower. Most of its inhabitants are Reyvateils, fundamentally due to unCleansed humans not being allowed in the areas above the Kniehar Signal Startion. While both Clustania and Archia are located in this Sector, we will explain their geography in detail from Page 110 onwards.

モジュール・ハーヴェスターシャ

Module Harvestasha

 この塔を管理制御するマザーコンピューター、ハ一ヴェ
スターシャが設置されている区画。ハ一ヴェスターシャは
疑似人格プログラムとホログラムによる体が与えられて
おり、自らの意志をもって塔を制御し、さらにクラスタニ
アを率いる総帥としてこの世界に君臨している。
 モジュールハ一ヴェスターシャはドーム状の施設で、内
部は非常に広い。足下は液体窒素クラスの冷媒が満たさ
れた水槽で、その中にハ一ヴェスターシャの処理を行う
コンピューターのフレームが浸けられ、稼動している。各
フレームからは、上に向がって蔓のように無数の神経節
が伸びており、部屋の中央部に集められた神経節の下に
は巨大な有機体「ルート・ハ一ヴェスターシャ」が存在し
ている。これがシステムのメインCPUに相当するものだ。
 部屋の中央のメインCPU付近では、クラスタニアのレ
ーヴァテイルとハ一ヴェスターシャが対話できる。

This is the area in which the Master Computer that administrates this Tower, Harvestasha, is installed. Harvestasha is actually endowed with a pseudo-personality program and an holographic body, and has her own will, which she uses to control the Tower, and as the ruler of Clustania, she is pretty much the ruler of this world.

The Module Harvestasha is a dome-shaped structure, which makes it very spacious in the inside. The Mainframe that executes Harvestasha's processes works while being submerged in a tank of a refrigerant similar to liquid nitrogen, which is located under the glass floor of the Module. A countless number of ganglia extend from the Mainframe upwards like ivies, which then gather in the central part of the room, concealing under them a gigantic organism called [root.HARVESTASHA]. That is the main CPU of this system.

The main CPU is located near the center of the room, which is what allows the Clustanian Reyvateils to converse with Harvestasha.

Module Harvestasha
塔の頭脳ともいえる機能が収納されたモジュールハーヴェスター
シャ。無機物で構成されながらも、有機的な外観を持つ。

The Module Harvestasha, the facility we could say that works as the Tower's brain. While it was made from inorganic materials, it still has a very organic external appearance.

ガルベルト

Galvert

 クラスタニアとアルキアの中間に位置し、鉄の足場が
縦横無尽に張り巡らされた区画。かつてアルキアは、クラ
スタニアに直接侵攻を行うため、この付近に幾度となく架
橋を試みたが、ことごとく潰された。現在は壊された足場
がひしめき合い、無人の廃墟となっている。

An iron scaffold that was installed between Archia and Clustania, and goes back and forth between both areas. A long time ago, Archia attempted to expand the bridge further to directly invade Clustania, but all of these expansions got ultimately destroyed. Now it has become a deserted group of ruins and collapsed scaffolds.

Garvelt
見渡す限り無機的に組
まれた鉄の足場が続く、
ガルベルト鉄柱橋。かつ
ては何度も激戦が繰り
広げられた、戦場の跡
地でもある。

The Galvert Bridge, an inorganic group of iron scaffolds that go on as far as the eye can see. A great number of conflicts unfolded on this place a long time ago, so we could say that it also serves as a ruined battlefield of sorts.

ニェハル信号所

Kniehar Signal Station

 グランヴァートゲージの運行を制御するための信号
所。すべてのグランヴァートゲージは、ここで一旦検問
が行われる。また、人間の捕虜やクレンジング希望者が
クラスタニアに向がう際は、この場所でシリアル番号を
打つ。なお、物語中でルーファンがアオトらに伝えた、
プローム壁の導力供給を行っているという情報は、混
乱を誘うための嘘で、そのような機能はない。

The signal station that controls the service of the Granvert Gauge. All of the Granvert trains are inspected once per day at this place. Also, when people like the human prisoners of war and the Cleansing applicants are being brought to Clustania, they are given a serial number here. Furthermore, when Luphan told Aoto and the others that it was possible to control the Symphonic Power flow of the Prome Wall from here during the game, he only lied to lead them to cause chaos, since this place doesn't have such functions.

Kniehar Signal Station
信号と線路がひしめき合う二ェハル信号所の肉
部。グランヴァートゲージの運行管理を行なって

The inside of the Kniehar Signal Station, which is crowded with lines and signals. This is the place in which the service of the Granvert Gauge is controlled, and where searches like the inspections for suspicious people are conducted.

原初の塔

Tower of Origin

 ティリアが第三塔を創造する前に、クロガネ研究所の所
員がベースキャンプとして用いた。現在はアルキアの一部
となり、頂点にはXPシェルが設置されている。対外的に
は稼動を停止しているとされるが、実際は内部にサキと
ティリアをのぞく第三塔すべてのレーヴァテイルの精神
世界が収められたSHサーバーが格納されており、クラス
タニアに対するアルキアの切り札的存在となっている。

This is the facility that the staff from the Kurogane Laboratories used as their base camp before Tyria had created the Third Tower. Currently, it has become a part of Archia, and has the XP Shell located at its very top. While externally it looks as if it had stopped working, it actually contains inside itself the SH Server that controls the Soulspaces of all the Reyvateils in the Third Tower, excepting for Saki and Tyria, and due to this, it always has served as trump card for Archia to use against Clustania.

The exterior of the Tower of Origin. It was in this place in which Tyria and Kurogane created the Third Tower. Currently, it's entangled in the plants that extend from the Third Tower, giving it a very organic appearance. By the way, while there also was a similar facility to it in the First Tower, it doesn't appear in any of the games.

XPシェル

XP Shell

 原初の塔の頂点に浮いている、惑星再生計画の中核と
なる施設。惑星の意志と対話するために作られた一種の
ダイブマシンであり、弾丸を模した形状をしている。使用
時にはXPシェルを惑星のコアに撃ち込み、アルシエルの
精神世界に介入してこの星を蘇らせるという計画で、モジ
ュールハーヴェスターシャは本来XPシェルをコアに撃ち
込む際に必要な弾道計算や管理を行うためのシステムと
して作られたものである。
 この惑星では、生物すべてに定常H波(精神波)が存
在すると考えられている。想いの波動を力にするレーヴ
アテイルはもちろん、人間についても例外ではない。そ
れは惑星についても同様で、惑星の持つ意志に干渉する
べく惑星再生計画の一環として作られたのがXPシェルだ
った。レーヴァテイルのインストールポイントに当たるも
のは、惑星の場合、惑星のコアだと推測されている。従っ
て、XPシェルは惑星のコアに撃ち込んでダイブを行う機
関として設計されたのである。
 XPシェルは、惑星のコアに近づくとダイブするために、
形状を変える。弾丸状の状態がら花が開くように展開し、
定常H波をスキャンする巨大な傘を広げるのだ。内部は
空洞になっており、惑星の定常H波と接続したとき、この
空洞に惑星の想いが具現化される。そして、XPシェルが
惑星の定常H波をスキャンし、それを導体D波(物質波)
に変換して、この空間をD波で満たすのである。
 物語の終盤では、XPシェルで惑星のコアに到達したテ
ィリアやアオトらの尽力で惑星との対話が実現し、その想
いの力でアルシエルは再生への道を歩みはじめるのだ。

The facility that serves as the very core of the Planet Regeneration Project, which floats at the very top of the Tower of Origin. It's a type of Dive Machine that was made to converse with the Planet, which was shaped after a bullet. The Module Harvestasha was originally made as the system to execute the controlling and trajectory calculations that are necessary when shooting the XP Shell into the Planetary Core, as part of the project consisting in shooting the XP Shell into the Core, and then intervene Ar Ciel's Soulspace to persuade Her into regenerating Herself.

It has been thought that all of the living creatures in this Planet have Static H-Waves (mental waves). Of course that the Reyvateils can transform these waves of feelings into power, but the humans aren't an exception to having them. Considering that even the Planet should have them, the XP Shell was made as the part of the Planet Regeneration Project that would intervene into the Planet's Will. It was guessed that if the Planet had something similar to Install Ports that the Reyvateils had, it would be the Planetary Core itself. Therefore, the XP Shell was designed as a facility that would be shot into the Planetary Core to Dive into the Planet's Soulspace.

Once it has gotten close enough to the Planetary Core, the XP Shell will have to change its shape to allow the Dive into the Planet. The bullet form unfolds like a flower blooming, and expands into a gigantic umbrella that can scan Static H-Waves. While the inside of the XP Shell is empty, once it has directly contacted the Static H-Waves of the Planet, that empty space will be filled with the embodiment of the Planet's feelings. To do this, the XP Shell will scan the Static H-Waves of the Planet, transform them into Dynamic D-Waves (matter waves), and fill the empty space with them.

At the end of the story, Tyria and Aoto's friends managed to reach the Planetary Core in the XP Shell, and through their efforts, they managed to converse with the Planet, and with the power of their feelings, they convinced Ar Ciel to walk towards the path of rebirth.

The exterior of the XP Shell, the seized key to the Planet Regeneration Project. Its shape for when it's headed to the Planetary Core has been associated to a bullet. Once it has safely reached its destination, it will unfold its scanners, and take a shape similar to an umbrella.

第二塔の射撃方法

The Firing Method of the Second Tower

 惑星の意志との対話を行う役割は第三塔が担って
いたが、他の塔でも同様の計画が進められていた。メ
タ・ファルスの第二塔にはムーンカルバートという大
きな縦穴が存在していたが、これは第三塔でいう惑
星にXPシェルを撃ち込むレールガンの役割で作られ
たもの。3036年には惑星再生計画の本拠が第二塔
に移されていたため、第二塔が完成していたら、ここ
からXPシェルが射出されていたかもしれない。

While the Third Tower was given the role of conversing with the Wills of the Planet, other one of the Towers had a similar project going on. There is a gigantic hole called the Moon Culvert in Metafalss' Second Tower, which was made to accomplish the same role as the railgun that shoots the XP Shell into the Planet. Because the Planet Regeneration Project moved its headquarters to the Second Tower in 3036 AD, if the Second Tower had been completed, maybe the XP Shell would have been shot from there instead.

Sector C (Lower Areas of the Tower)

 アルキアの下に位置する区画で、人間の住む大牙と、
レーヴァテイルの住む塔側との接点になる区域。巨大導
力吸収施設ムーシェリエルが存在するほかは、ほとんど
目ぼしいものはない。人が住めるような環境にはなく、
グランヴァートゲージも途中までしが通っていない。

This sector is located below Archia, and serves as the region of contact between the Great Fang, populated by the humans, and the Tower, populated by the Reyvateils. Aside of the gigantic Symphonic Power absorption facility of Moocheriel, there are other facilities, but they don't have any important functions. It isn't an environment suitable for people to live in it, and aside of the Granvert Gauge passing through it, no one comes to this area.

Sector C
巨大な球状の導力吸収施設。ムーシェリエルが目を引く塔C区画。
700年前にティリアが完全させられなかった区域で、塔の機能的に
重要なものはない。ムーシェリ工ルは、後に人間が作った施設だ。

The gigantic sphere-shaped Symphonic Power absorption facility, Moocheriel, is the part that catches the eye the most from the Tower Sector C. This was part of the areas that Tyria couldn't completely create 700 years ago, but it doesn't have any vital functions to the Tower's purpose. This facility was later on completed by the humans.

Granvert Railyard

 アルキアの直下に存在する、グランヴァート・ゲージ
の車両基地。運行していない車両はここで待機するこ
とになるが、本来はこの直下にある「誘導コイル」のエ
ネルギーを制御する場所である。

The railyard for the Granvert Gauge, which it's located just below Archia. While it has several vehicles in standby for when the Granvert Gauge can't function, it actually serves as the control center for the energy of the [Induction Coil] located just below itself.

Flower Bud

 塔の最下層とムーシェリエルの間に位置する狭い区
域で、ムーシェリエルを植物に見立ててこの名で呼ば
れている。ムーシェリエルの巨大ドームの入口にもなっ
ており、ここから先は、まるで別次元のような風景が展
開している。

A narrow region located in the space between Moocheriel and the lowermost areas of the Tower, its name being due to Moocheriel having an appearance similar to a plant. It serves as an entrance of sorts to the gigantic dome of Moocheriel, which also unfolds an scenery that seems out from other dimension in front of anyone who stands inside it.

ブライン坑

Bline Shaft

 塔の最低地点、アンダーブラインに進む事ができる
唯一の場所である。ここには、一度も開いたことがない
ブライン隔壁という壁が存在する。銃口の中にある蓋
のようなもので、XPシェル射出時にしが開がないよう
に設計され、射出した際は高速でここを通過していくこ
とになる。

The lowest point in the Tower's map, and the only place from which it's possible to access the Under-Bline. In this place, there is a wall called the Bline Barrier Wall, which has never been opened. It serves as a cover of sorts for the muzzle of the railgun, and it was never planned to be opened except for when the XP Shell is shot, due to the XP Shell passing through this place at extremely high speeds.

 レールガンの銃口に相当する塔最下層の先端部分
で、その下部は死の雲海を越えた位置にある。ブライン
抗に1カ所だけある通用口からアンダーブラインに入る
ことができるが、この通用口が使用されたことは一度
もなく、未知の領域となっている。

The muzzle of the railgun, making it the lowermost area of the Tower. This means that this place is located below the Sea of Death. While it's possible to access this place only through an staff entrance located in the Bline Shaft, said entrance has never been used by anyone, making this an unexplored area.

ムーシェリエル

Moocheriel

 未完成だった塔を完成させるための導力を供給する
ため、約600年前にクラスタニアとクロガネ研究所の
合同で作られた巨大導力吸収施設がムーシェリエルで
ある。本来、塔の完成に必要とされる導力はカイラシス
テムと呼ばれる施設で賄う予定であったが、稼動に至
らながったため、代わりにムーシェリエルが作られた。
カイラシステムの一環・カイラ吸収板は現在でも塔上
層のティリアヘッド付近に浮遊しているが、対となるカ
イラ静止衛星が予算不足で作れながったため、無用の
長物と化している。
 ムーシェリエルは導体H波の吸収および拡散の機能
を持ち、本来は大地の心臓を生成するために計画され
たものだ。3120年に完成し、翌年稼動を開始し塔の建
設を進めるための導力を得ることに成功するが、その
際に惑星の謳う意志(スズノミア)のエネルギーがほと
んど尽きるまで吸収してしまい、惑星の荒廃をさらに
進行させてしまう結果となる。その後、ムーシェリエル
は抗体の襲撃を受けて稼動を停止した。

Moocheriel is the gigantic Symphonic Power absorption facility that was made in cooperation between Clustania and the Kurogane Laboratories around 600 years ago, in an attempt to supply the incomplete the Tower with the Symphonic Power it needed to be completed. Actually, the original plan was to use a facility known as the Kaira System for obtaining the energy necessary for the Tower's completion, but since said system was never completed at the necessary stage for it to be put into operation, it was decided to build Moocheriel instead for this function. Only one part of the Kaira System was completed: the Kaira Absorption Plates that currently can be found floating in the upper areas of the Tower, near the Tyria Head. On the other hand, the other half of the System, the Kaira Geosynchronous Satellite, was never made due to lack of budget, which rendered the Absorption Plates as useless for a long time.

Moocheriel has the property of absorbing the Dynamic H-Waves dispersed in the environment, which was the reason for it being originally planned as a system for creating a Heart of the Land. It was completed in 3120 AD, and the following year it had successfully begun operating, providing the Tower with the energy that it needed to be completed. However, since it also sapped the energy of the Singing Will of the Planet (Suzunomia) almost completely, this also had the effect of further accelerating the destruction of the Planet. After this, Moocheriel was attacked by the Antibodies, and stopped functioning.

があり、ここで詩を謳うことで、さまざまな生命が生み出される。

The inside of Moocheriel. Due to connecting both the real world and the Soulspaces, it's an space where an other dimensional-like world unfolds. At its very center there is a place called the Moocheriel Altar, in which it's possible to create various kinds of life by singing Songs.

塔を縦断するグランヴァートゲージ

The Granvert Gauge: The Vehicle that Crosses Throughout the Tower

 塔内を縦方向に走る鉄道機関。上りと下りの進行方向は
そのまま塔の上下方向を示し、列車は3両編成が基本。1
車両は5階建てで、1階ごとに12人の乗客が座ることがで
きる。グランヴァートゲージは、本来はXPシェルを牽引す
るための架線であり、現在、駅になっている場所はもとも
とカタパルト施設として作られたものを旅客用に改造した
ものである。これらの施設はメンテナンス向けのIDが記さ
れており、運行表にもそのIDが記されている場所がある
が、現在駅としては使用されていない施設も数多くある。

A railroad system that vertically runs throughout the Tower, whose trains can run both in ascending and descending directions. Each train is composed of three cars, each car being made from five floors that have a total of 60 seats. The Granvert Gauge was originally the aerial wiring designed to pull the XP Shell into position for its shooting, but in the current times, it was remodeled from a catapult facility into a train system with stations and stops that can be used by the people to go anywhere in the Tower. All of the facilities that composed it have an ID name used for maintenance purpose, so while these names are displayed for the service personnel, practically no ones uses them to refer to their destinations, and instead use the station names.

While it can be confused with an elevator due to its vertical movement, it's actually a train pulled through the rails through a control room, and that has an exclusive aerial wiring for it to run through.

In this section, we will explain about the deepest keywords that were used in the creation of this world. By the way, a more detailed explanation for the Wave Science Terms can be found in Page 126, in the Wave Science Lecture, and if you wish to know more about the First Tower in Sol Ciel, or the Second Tower in Metafalss, make sure to check up the material collection books for Ar tonelico 1 and Ar tonelico 2.

ハーヴェスターシャ

Harvestasha

 ハーヴエスターシャXPとVISTAは、第三塔の要となる 
メインフレームである。二つのフレームにおいて、能力
面での優劣はない。ただ、XPのデュプリケイト(転写)が
VISTAであるという点において、XPの方を「親」と呼ぶ
に相応しい。XPが生まれたのはティリアの培養開始と同
じ年、すなわち、第三塔用の新しいSHサーバが生まれ
た3033年である。かたやVISTAはティリアが塔になっ
た3047年に誕生した。
 それぞれのメインフレームは初期状態では特に目的を
持たされておうす、「目的アルゴリズム」と呼ばれる特殊
なプログラムルーティンをブリセットすることで人格及び
目的を形成し、最高効率でそれを執り行うようになる。一
番最初にXPIこプログラムされた目的アルゴリズムは、テ
ィリアの培養と育成、管理だった。すなわちXPは、ティリ
アの母といえる存在なのだ。次にプログラムされたのが、
原初の塔の維持管理。3つめにプログラムされたのが、惑
星再生計画(AHPP)の段取りを行う、ブレフィールド・プ
ログラムと呼ばれるもので、ティリアが主体となって行わ
れる惑星再生計画に必要なプロセスがすべて含まれてい
た。プレフィールド・プログラムは3047年にティリアが塔
の創生に失敗した後も稼働を続け、その結果、後にミユー
ルが接触してきた際に、四次正角性中核環(大地の心臓)
の存在と、その必要性を伝えられたのである。
 そして、最後にプログラムされたAHPPの要である
メインフィールド・プログラムは、ティリアがヒュムノス
「EXEC_REBIRTHIA=PROTOCOL/.」(リバーシア
 プロトコル)を謳うことによってプログラムされるように設
計されている。リバーシアプロトコルは、主に以下の3つ
のプロセスによって成り立っていた。
 1.ディリアをプログラム図面通りの形の塔に変化させる
 2.ハ一ヴェスターシャのデユプリケイトを作成する 
 3.目的アルゴリズム「メインフィールド・プログラム」を実行 
 メインフィールド・プログラムは2体のメインフレームに
よるデュアルサイクル・プロセスを必須としているため、
自己のデユプリケイトを作成した後にメインフィールド・プ

 メインフレーム・八一ヴエスターシャは、完全人工知能
メインフレーム(H波素子フレーム)である。同じメインフ
レームに当たる第一塔のアルトネリコとメタ・フアルスの
ソル・マルタは、単純AIによる、感情も思考も持たないD
波素子フレームであった。初のH波素子フレームである
ハーヴ工スターシャにおいて最も苦労したのは、その目
的プロセスを成し遂げるための性質、すなわち人格の形
成だったと言われている。完全人工知能メインフレーム
が他の単純AIに比べて秀でた部分といえば、そのプログ
ラミングプロセスの簡便さであり、ハーヴエスターシャは
自身が人間と対話することでプログラムの作成やデバッ
グを共同作業で行うことができた。この思考を実行する
にあたり、人格の形成が必須になってくる。調整は困難を
極めたが、結果として生まれた人格である現在のXPは
スタンダードながらもテキパキと働き、素直な仕様で設
計されている。単純作業の効率化を図るなどの応用力が
弱いことと、向上意識に乏しいことが弱点として挙げられ
ていたが、AHPPにおいては最善の人格であると判断さ
てれた。一方、後に登場する絢胤によってエディットされた
VISTAは、非常にアグレッシブな性格設定がされている。
こちらは従順性は欠片もないが、応用力と独創性に落ち
あふれ、大胆に物事を進めるように設計されていた。

Harvestasha XP and VISTA are the Mainframes that became essential components for the Third Tower. There isn't actually any superiority or inferiority when it comes to their abilities. Still, given that VISTA is actually a duplicate (transcription) of XP, it would be very appropriate to say that XP is VISTA's [mother]. XP was created in the same year in which Tyria began to be cultivated. In other words, the new SH Server that would be used by the Third Tower was created in 3033 AD. On the other hand, VISTA was created in 3047 AD, when Tyria transformed into the Tower.

From the very beginning, each Mainframe had special goals to accomplish, which were preset into them using an special programming routine called the [Goal Algorithm], which structured their personalities and goals in a way that gave them the highest efficiency possible to accomplish them. The first Goal Algorithm that was programmed into XP was the administration over Tyria's cultivation and growth, so we could say that XP pretty much served the role as Tyria's mother. After this, the next algorithm that was programmed into her was the administration over the Tower of Origin's maintenance. The third algorithm that was programmed into her contained the execution of the steps for the Planet Regeneration Project (AHPP), called the Pre-field Program, and since Tyria had become the very core for its execution, all of the most important processes included her. The Pre-field Program continued operating even after Tyria failed at creating the Tower in 3047 AD, so it was thanks to this that when Mir managed to contact XP many years later, XP could tell her about the existence of the Autostabilizing Tesseractal Nuclear Loop (the Heart of Land), and its importance.

And finally, the last algorithm that was programmed into her contained the most important instructions for the AHPP, the Main-Field Program. However, this wasn't directly programmed into her, given it was planned that the Hymmnos that Tyria would sing, [EXEC_REBIRTHIA=PROTOCOL/.] would be used to program these instructions into her. Rebirthia Protocol is essentially structured by three processes, which we will describe now:

1) Transform Tyria into the Tower, according to the blueprints programmed into her.

2) Create a duplicate for Harvestasha.

3) Program and execute the instructions for the Goal Algorithm [Main-Field Program].

Given that the Main-Field Program is a Dual-Cycle Process, it requires both Mainframes to be executed, and she was programmed in this way to allow the execution of the Main-Field Program immediately after her duplicate was created.

The Mainframe Harvestasha is a perfect artificially intelligent Mainframe (an H-Wave Based Frame). The most similar mainframes to them would be Ar tonelico, in the First Tower, and Sol Marta, in Metafalss. However, they have only a simplistic AI and completely lack any emotions or thought processes, so they are simple D-Wave Based Frames. The first H-Wave Based Frame, which was Harvestasha herself, had the greatest number of problems for her creation, specially for the structuring of an appropriate nature for her to accomplish her goal processes. In other words, the structuring of her personality. If we had to mentions some points in which the perfect artificially intelligent mainframes surpass the simplistic AI ones, these would be the easiness of programming them, given that it's possible to make programs for Harvestasha by just conversing with her, and the debug of these programs can be done as teamwork between the programmer and the mainframe. Of course, to be able to execute this kind of framework it's necessary for her to have a personality programmed beforehand. However, modifying her is the hardest part, which had as consequences that the current XP ended having the same exact standard personality as when she was created, since she was put to work immediately. Her personality setting specifications were obedient and docile. Planning other settings that were simple and efficient had very weak applications, and it while it was said by some technicians that the default personality also had a few weak points of its own, the AHPP itself determined that it was the one which would better serve for the purpose of executing the Planet Restoration Project. On the other hand, when Ayatane appeared much later on, he edited VISTA to reconfigure her personality into a far more aggressive one. While she doesn't lack obedience traits, her potential applications and creativity greatly suffered from this change, and was reconfigured to perform extremely daring actions.

This is the appearance of the Module Harvestasha that allows Harvestasha to exist. The Mainframe itself is located below, put inside an spherical tank filled with refrigeration liquid. By the way, there are two Modules Harvestasha: one located in Clustania, in Tower Block B, which is used in by VISTA; and other located in the Tower of Origin, in the XP Shell, which is the one used by XP, and both were constructed in the pretty much same way.

She is the Mainframe that was made to control the XP Shell (eXecute Progress Shell), assist with the growth of the Heart of the Land, and support the conversation with the Wills of the Planet. Among the two Harvestashas, because of being the first one made, she receives the name of Master Frame. Although VISTA is duplicate of her, she has the much more difficult destiny of allowing the [conversation with the Wills of the Planet] after the XP Shell has been shot into the Planetary Core. She shares with Tyria the leading role in the Planet Restoration Project.

The second Mainframe. She was given the codename of [Tower Auditor] inside the Planet Restoration Project due to being the Harvestasha that has complete over the Tower, and being entrusted the movements of the XP Shell previous to its shooting. VISTA means [Vertex Intelligence of SH Tower Automation]. She has complete influence for all of the places in the Tower, which means that she can control from maintenance mechanisms to Guardians, and even manipulate the Musical Corridor.

Song Servers of the Third Tower

Tyria, a Reyvateil Origin, has her own personal SH server to house her Binary Field/soulspace. Generally, all the β-types coexist in the same SH server. The true owner of that SH server is β-6D, a virtual existence without a physical form. The Pureblooded β-types are no more than subcompartments of the persona of β-6D.

You can also say that Finnel, Akane, Richa, and all the other Pureblooded β-types of the Third Tower are all part of β-6D. Her vast Soulspace (SH server) is partitioned into the individual minds of the Betas. The Third Tower's β-6D is a little different from that of the First, so they aren't very compatible. The major difference is her support for EXEC_FLIP programs, detailed in the section entitled EXEC_FLIP and Miracles. However, the spiritual frequency limit of both towers' β-6Ds are the same. It's best to have as high a spiritual frequency as possible in order to use EXEC_FLIP to its maximum potential, but Reyvateils didn't have much higher spiritual frequencies than humans at the time this SH Server was created. It was at capacity under the load of a single Origin, Tyria. So, the Third Tower has 2 SH servers - one designed to operate at normal spiritual frequencies, and another designed to optimize the available frequencies. β-6D, the host for the Pureblooded β-types, was placed within the normal server, to which all Pureblooded β-types in the Third Tower are connected.

However, only Saki, constructed by Archia Laboratories, is different. Saki's body isn't much different from a normal β-type's, but she's a special type of Reyvateil called a Gamma Sublimate. When the design for the Gamma Sublimate was drawn up, the technology to create a Reyvateil from scratch (like an Origin) was already lost. Thus, they were limited in what they could do beyond the normal methods of creating a Beta. So, Archia turned their attention to the second SH server, which housed Tyria.

Tyria's server needed to run with a cycle time double that of β-6D's. In other words, it takes twice as much capacity to store the same amount of information. As a result, it needed to use wave frequencies at a much higher level than those of β-6D. The human conscious mind only runs as deep as about 10^8 Hz, while the subconscious goes to about 10^11 Hz. So the sampling rate for information in β-6D is relatively low, and can only record information to about that precision - 10^11 Hz. However, Tyria's SH server can record frequencies of up to 10^22 Hz.

The aim of the true master of Saki's body, Sakia, was to attract some of the Wills of the Planet. The Wills exist at a much higher dimension than normal humans, so a regular β-type would be ill-equipped to interact with them. Archia created a special SH-RAM domain within Tilia's server and installed a device very similar to β-6D there. They then created Sakia within that domain very much like they'd create a normal Beta. Since it wasn't as specialized as β-6D, it would be difficult to create hundreds of Gamma Sublimates this way, but they were able to control a Soulspace domain large enough for Sakia alone - about the equivalent of tens of normal β-types.

The thing that truly distinguishes a Gamma Sublimate is the extent of her spiritual frequency. Aside from that, they're not much different from a normal Pureblooded β-type. However, since she's housed in a different SH server, she isn't spiritually connected to the other Betas. This is why when Archia releases a virus during the events of the game, even though the other βs all succumb to it and lose consciousness, Saki remains unaffected. Her unusually high spiritual frequency also makes her able to use EXEC_FLIP much more effectively than a normal Pureblooded β. EXEC_FLIP is a particularly taxing song magic for a β to execute, but it's not that bad for a Gamma Sublimate. The reason why Saki loses part of her memory whenever she uses the power of miracles - that is, whenever she uses EXEC_FLIP - isn't because of the high cost of the song, but because Sakia was acting to make it so. Since EXEC_FLIP raises the energy levels of her entire mind when she sings it, it also allows that personality hidden inside her to become more active and work a different kind of miracle.

In addition, all Song Magic Servers aside from that of the First Tower run on a principle of best effort. This means that they convert part of the power of the Reyvateils' emotions to Dynamic D-Waves, which are used to provide energy for the Tower's functions. They can continue to draw energy as long as Reyvateils exist, so in that sense they're kind of like perpetual energy devices, but that also means they're effected by the influence of the Reyvateils' emotions. It's harder for them to store energy if the Reyvateils' emotions become weaker. That's why Infel Phira uses an energy storage system to avoid burdening the Reyvateils as much as possible, even when operating at minimum possible power. The Third Tower uses the same type of system, which is why Archia can't allow the Reyvateils to be completely destroyed.

ソル・クラスタに送られた後に登録されたヒュムノ
ス単語は第一塔との互換性が存在しない。新約パ
スタリエのような独特な文法を持っているわけでも
なく、通常のヒュムノス文法がいられている。

The Third Tower has an unique kind of Hymmnos called the [Cluster Note], however, while it doesn't actually have any palpable differences from the Central Standard Note from the First Tower, it's a language that has been registered only in the Third Tower. The Third Tower has full support for all of the Hymmnos kinds used by the First Tower, but all of the Hymmnos words that were registered into its servers after they were brought to Sol Cluster have no compatibility at all with the First Tower. This means that it doesn't have any kinds of unique grammar like the New Testament of Pastalie, and uses the normal Hymmnos grammar.

EXEC_HYMMEはレーヴァテイルの妄想力との等価交
換を行なうが、エネルギーとして限界がある。詩魔法は
それ自体が物質として形成せずホログラフ的な非物質
の容姿か、焼き尽くしたり凍らせるなどのエネルギー体
を生み出すのが精一杯なのだ。かたやEXEC_FLIPは、
定常H波の秩序あるエネルギーを、定常D波の秩序ある
エネルギーに等価交換する。すなわち、魂を削って物質
として発現させるのが、EXEC_FLIPなのだ。
 EXEC_FLIPというヒュムノスエクストラクトは、正式
にはハーヴェスターシャサーバー(第三塔のSHサー
バー)のレーヴァテイルにしかダウンロードされていな
い。本来、第一紀でのEXEC_FLIPの開発目的は、レー
ヴァテイルの肉体の変化であった。エネルギー的な作
用しかしないEXEC_HYMMEは用途が限られていた。
EXEC_FLIPは、これらの問題を解消する次世代の詩魔
法として計画された新技術だった。
 とはいえ、当時既に当数の稼働レエーヴァテイルを抱
えていたアルトネリコサーバーでの試験は不可能であ
り、搭載も困難だった。結局アルトネリコでの試験軍用
は見送れ、次に白羽の矢が当たったのが、ソル・クラス
タに移送される前のハーヴェスターシャサーバーだった
のである。ハーヴェスターシャサーバーでの試験は、3
年間を目処に行われた。その間にアルトネリコサーバー
へのプラグイン増設を行い、最後的にはEXEC_FLIPを
連用可能にする予定だった。だが、現実には情勢の悪化
もありアルトネリコへの搭載は中止され、ハーヴェスタ
ーシャサーバーはEXEC_FLIPを連用できる唯一のサ
ーバーとしてソル・クラスタに移転された。
 EXEC_FLIPは、自らの魂と物質を等価交換するた
め、エネルギー的に等価でない物質を作ることができた
り、物質自体を別の物質に変化させたりする事が可能で
ある。だが従来のレーヴァテイルは構造上、姿形を簡単
に変更することができないよう、ある程度固定された物
理フォーマットで設計されていた。EXEC_FLIPをレー
ヴァテイルに対して実施するには、その物理体フォーマ
ットを操作しなければならない。EXEC_FLIPをアルト
ネリコサーバーのレーヴァテイルに搭載するのが困難な
理由はこのためである。
 ハーヴェスターシャサーバーのレーヴァテイルは、
EXEC_FLIPをサポートしているため、理論的にはどの
ようなものでも紡ぎ出すことが可能だ。ただし、EXEC_
FLIPの詩魔法を紡ぎ出した者は少ない。なぜなら、
EXEC_HYMMEに比べて遙かに深いレベルの意識が
必要だからだ。クラスタニアのβ純血種レーヴァテイル
達は、スレイヴ街区の人間と通信でダイブしているため、
高レベルの詩魔法を紡ぎ出すのが困難なのだ。

EXEC_FLIP is a program that uses the life of the Reyvateil as an equivalent exchange for causing a miracle. The Song Magic EXEC_HYMME program we have seen so far performs this same kind of equivalent exchange using the power from the fantasies of the Reyvateils, but this has a limit to how much energy it can generate. Song Magic itself isn't actually formed as matter: it's actually made in a immaterial form, like the holograms; and the energy that actually causes effects like freezing or burning is actually created from all the power the Reyvateil gives to the song. On the other hand, EXEC_FLIP converts the structural energy of the Static H-Waves into structural energy of the Static D-Waves. In other words, what EXEC_FLIP basically does is downsizing the soul to make it manifest in the physical plane.

Officially speaking, the EXEC_FLIP Hymmnos Extracts can only be Downloaded into Reyvateils registered into the Harvestasha Server (the Third Tower's SH Server). Originally, the goal for the development of EXEC_FLIP back in the First Era was to perform changes and transformations in the bodies of the Reyvateils. The energy-like effects of EXEC_HYMME had already reached their usefulness limits, so EXEC_FLIP was a new technology, planned to solve these problems, and to be used as the next generation of Song Magic.

However, there were already many operating Reyvateils registered in the Ar tonelico Server, making further experimentation in it impossible, and besides, there were many difficulties in adding this system to the first Tower. Eventually, it was decided that the military-oriented experiments for Ar tonelico would be performed elsewhere, and while it might have been a simple stroke of luck, in the end the decided location for them ended being Harvestasha, on Sol Cluster. The experiments on the Harvestasha Server took three years, but ended in success. At that time, a restructuring was done to make it into a plugin extension for the Ar tonelico Server, and it was expected that it would be finally possible to give an extensive use to the EXEC_FLIP songs. However, the reality made things end up pretty badly, so the addition of these songs to Ar tonelico was canceled, and the only server which could make use of EXEC_FLIP, the Harvestasha Server, was transferred over to Sol Cluster.

EXEC_FLIP's function is to use one's own soul and physical being as an equivalent exchange, which allows to create matter that couldn't be created in the same way with energy-like methods, and to change one's own body into completely different things. However, since this constructs on top of how the Reyvateils are originally structured, it isn't simple to change their forms, since they are designed under an specific physical format, up to a certain extent. In order for Reyvateils to be able to use EXEC_FLIP, they need to be able of manipulating that physical format that makes up their bodies. This is one of the main reasons why it would prove difficult to give support for EXEC_FLIP to the Reyvateils that belong to the Ar tonelico Server.

The reason why the Reyvateils from the Harvestasha Server support it is because they are capable of theoretically crafting everything and anything. However, very few people can actually craft EXEC_FLIP Song Magics. This is because they require a far deeper level of consciousness in comparison to the EXEC_HYMME Song Magics. For example, the Clustania Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils make long distance Dives into the humans from the Slave District because otherwise it would be harder for them to craft high-level Song Magic.

METAFALICA/.はエクストラクトであるため、作
り出すものおよびその規模は最初から大陸と決め
られていた。それゆえに、誰も謳えない程の導力量
と周波数を要求されるようなエクストラクトになって
しまったのである。
 理論上では、EXEC_FLIPでも大陸を作るこ
とは可能である。ただし、EXEC_FLIPの場合は
EXEC_HYMMEがそうであるように、自らの限界
導力量を越えるようなものは作ることが出来ない。
つまり、自らの身体のサイズから著しくかけ離れた
大きさのものにすることはできないのである。

The two Song Magics: EXEC_FLIP, which turns the Static H-Waves into matter, and EXEC_METAFALICA/., which was used to create the new continent of Metafalica in Metafalss, essentially are pretty similar to each other. It wouldn't be an exaggeration at all to say that the special qualities of both Hymmnos are pretty similar to each other.

However, their largest difference is that EXEC_METAFALICA/. is an Hymmnos Extract. EXC_FLIP is after all an standard Song Magic, a subclass of Hymmnos Words, called a three-word socket one, which greatly changes what effects it can bring forth. However, since EXEC_METAFALICA/. is an Extract, it was decided from the very start that it would need have to create something of a large scale: in other words, a continent. Because of this, it was that it ended being an Extract with Symphonic Power and Wave Frequency requirements so large, that it was completely impossible for anyone to sing it.

Theoretically, EXEC_FLIP could make a continent out of the air by itself, too. However, since EXEC_FLIP works similarly to EXEC_HYMME, it would be impossible for the singer to create something that surpasses her own Symphonic Power limit. In other words, she would be completely unable to create anything that surpasses the size of her own body by such a large margin.

 物語中で、ティリアがアオトを「半レ人」と呼ぶシーン
がある。ティリアの言では、アオトは: 「外は人間、中はレー
ヴァテイル、でも第三世代でもない」ということだが、テ
ィリアが指摘したアオトの体質はアルキア研究所のネオア
トラス派が研究していた人類進化計画と大いに関係があ
る。人類進化計画の基盤となる学説のーつに、「人間質と
レーヴァテイル質の更なる親和性に関する研究」が存在
する。この説では、通常の第三世代もしくはレーヴァテイ
ル質を持った人間をパッシブフュージョンという名で定義
しており、それに対し人類進化計画を成功させるために
重要な要素として、アクティブフュージョンという状態の
人間が不可欠だと説いている。
 通常、レーヴァテイル質は発症しなければ本来のレーヴ
ァテイルとしてのシステムや機能は働かない。これがパッ
シフフュージョンの状態である。だが、アクティブフュージ
ョンの場合、レーヴァテイル質が発症していない人聞に対
して、塔側が第三世代レーヴァテイルと同等の扱いをす
るのだ。この仕組みはアルキア研究所によって人類進化
計画の一環として秘密裏に構築された。この状態になっ
てしまった代表的な例が、アオトとゲンガイである。
 レーヴァテイル質が強い人間は塔とのアクティブフュー
ジョンをスムーズに行ってしまうが、アルキア研究所の理
想はXPシェルの傘が開いたときに塔から発せられる高
出力の導体H波によって、全人類のアクティプフュージョ
ンが同時に成立することであった。ゆえに、平常時にアク
ティブフュージョンが成り立つ人間を問題視している。

During the game, there is an scene in which Tyria calls Aoto a [Medley]. While the exact phrase that Tyria uses is this one: [You're human on the outside, but inside you're Reyvateilic, you aren't even a Third Generation], what she actually identified from Aoto's genetic make-up it's actually greatly related to the Human Evolution Project that was researched by the Neo Atlas faction of the Archia Think Tank. The theory that serves as the basis for the Human Evolution Project is this: [Researching a way for the Human Genes and Reyvateil Genes to become more compatible with each other]. Under this theory, the genes carried either by Third Generations or humans bearers are defined as Passive Fusion, while it was explained that the most important quality for the Human Evolution Project to be successful was that the humans needed to reach a condition called Active Fusion.

Normally, if the Reyvateil genes don't awaken, the systems and mechanisms that make subject into a Reyvateil by definition won't activate. This is the Passive Fusion condition. However, in the case of the Active Fusion, the Reyvateil genes will be forced to activate within the humans, and then, they will be treated by the Tower in the same way as Third Generations. This plan was created by the Archia Think Tank in secret as one of the steps for the Human Evolution Project. The people that ended becoming the most representative examples of this condition were both Aoto and Gengai.

While if people have strong Reyvateil genes, they can undergo an Active Fusion smoothly, the ideals that the Archia Think Tank had were that once they managed to open the antenna of the XP Shell, they would be able to release extremely power Dynamic H-Waves, which would at the same time complete an Active Fusion in all of humanity. Due to this, that the times were so peaceful recently were viewed as a problem by those who wanted to undergo the Active Fusion.

The Structure of the Reyvateil Gene Awakening

 レーヴァテイル質は、ウイルスのように人間の中に潜
伏しており、その発症とは、塔のSHサーバーとリンク
したことを意昧する。レーヴァテイル質は常に塔とコン
タクトを取り続け、その認証作業が頻繁に行われている
のだ。基本的にそれは通らず、高確率でエラーと判定さ
れる。それでも認証は常に行われているため、ある程度
のレーヴァテイル質の強度を持った人間は、ほとんどが
15歳になるまでに1回は認証を通過してしまう。それが
発症といわれる状態で、全レーヴァテイルの機能が稼働
し、第三世代レーヴァテイルとして発現するのである。

The Reyvateils genes are virus-like genes that incubate themselves inside the humans, and when they awaken, it means that the person has been linked to the Tower's SH Server. Then, the Reyvateil genes always keep in contact with the Tower, which performs constant authentication operations. Basically, if these communications stop for any reason, there is a high probability that they will be judged as erroneous. Despite this, since these authentications are constantly performed, if a human ever has Reyvateil genes with an strong enough intensity, there is a chance than one of these authentications will reach her, usually around her 15th birthday. That is the condition called Awakening, and once all of the functions of a Reyvateil begin working in her, she will manifest as a Third Generation Reyvateil.

進化という名のアクティブフュージョン

The Evolution Called Active Fusion

 人類進化計画における「進化」とは、アクティブフュー
ジョンによる強制発症のことである。だが、物語中におい
てその準備が完全でないため、アクティブフュージョンの
状態となった人間は、感情が高ぶると精神的に異常をき
たすか、死に至るのがほとんどだ。これが一般的に極限病
と呼ばれる症状の正体である。
 極限病発症の理由は、アクティブフュージョン時にリン
クする精神世界のアドレスが、SHサーバーの有効アドレ
ス外であるためだ。第三世代がそうであるように、アクテ
ィブフュージョン済みの人間も、常にミラーリング(精神
世界のデータの保存)がされている。精神が安定してい
るときは問題ないのだが、感情が高ぶって詩魔法を紡ぐ
程の起伏が発生すると、精神世界内に存在する「いのち
の塔」にアクセスを試みる。しかし、アクティブフュージョ
ン状態の人間の精神世界にあるいのちの塔は、SHサー
バーのJP(参照)アドレスが不定であるため、いのちの
塔がSHサーバーを正しく参照できない。そのため、よく
わからないデータの海となり、機能が麻痺してしまうの
である。なぜこうなるかというと、通常の第三世代は発症
準備が整うと、SHサーバーとのリンクのために、精神世
界アドレスを参照する。それがSHサーバーの有効アドレ
ス外だった場合、レーヴァテイル質は100%発症しない。
だが、アクティブフュージョン状態の人間は、アドレスがど
んな番号であれ発症してしまうのだ。それがたまたま第
三塔スコープ内にあれば助かるが、外にある場合は生き
残るためにSHサーバーアドレスを早急にリダイレク卜し
なければならない。作中で極限病を発症したアオ卜をサ
キやフィンネルが救う際に「アオトと精神を繋げた」と言
っているのは、サキやフィンネルのSHサーバーアドレス
を用いて塔に接続するよう、アオトのSHサーバーアドレ
スをリダイレク卜したという事なのである。
 なお、アクティブフュージョンした人間には、実はダイブ
が可能である。すなわち、アオトの精神世界にもダイブが
可能ということだが、ダイブした先の精神世界で詩を紡い
だりパラダイムシフトをしようものならすぐに精神世界
が崩壊し、ダイブと共に帰らぬ人となってしまう。
 アルキア研究所は、この異常なアクティブフュージョン
をするレーヴァテイル質を数百年前から意図的に広めて

To what the [Evolution] part of the Human Evolution Project refers is to the forced awakening of the Reyvateil genes of the Active Fusion. However, during the game's story, we can see that the preparations for this never were completed, so those people who reached the Active Fusion condition will suffer of mental disorders if their emotions get too excited, which mostly end killing them off. This is the actual form of the symptoms that are typically called the Border Disease.

The Border Disease happens because of the following reason: when an Active Fusion occurs, the person who undergoes it has his or her Soulspace linked to an address, however, that address is outside of the valid ranges used by the SH Server. The Third Generations, and also, the ones affected by the Active Fusion undergo a constant mirroring (preservation of the Soulspace data) to avoid any potential problems. When the mind is stable, no problems arise, but whenever a person has his or her emotions excited high enough, with undulations that would be high enough for any Reyvateil to craft a Song Magic, the mirroring tries to access the Tower of Life that exists within their Soulspace. The Active Fusion humans do have a Tower of Life in their Soulspaces, but since it exists in a an address that the RG (Registry) of the SH Server can't recognize, the SH Server is incapable of verifying the address of these Towers of Life. Because of that, their Soulspaces become a sea of completely incomprehensible data, and their functions are completely paralyzed. The reason why this happens to them, and why the normal Third Generations are arranged in such a way that this never happens to them; is because of their linkage to the SH Server, which is actually able of verifying the addresses of their Soulspaces. If their addresses in the SH Server were outside of the valid ranges, it would mean that their Reyvateil genes hadn't awakened in a 100%. However, in the case of the Active Fusion people, they always awaken with these erroneous addresses. If this happens inside of the Third Tower's area, it's still possible to save the people from a complete mental breakdown, but they need to have their SH Server address redirected as soon as possible to survive. During the game, when either Saki or Finnel save Aoto while he has an outbreak of the Border Disease, we are told that [Aoto was linked to her mind], which actually means that one of them used her personal SH Server address to redirect Aoto's in a way in which it connected directly to the Tower.

By the way, it's actually possible to Dive into a person that has Active Fusion. In other words, it's possible to Dive into Aoto's Soulspace, but if something great happened in there, such as Aoto crafting a Song or having a Paradigm Shift, his Soulspace would collapse, and that would kill both him and the Diver.

All of this happened because the Archia Think Tank intentionally propagated altered Reyvateils genes, which could cause the Active Fusion, several centuries prior to the game's story. Currently, almost of the 100% of the people in Sol Cluster carries these genes in their blood.

And Which Would be the Last Step?

 人類進化計画の最終段階に必要な条件は、3つある。
①全人間のアクティブフュージョン有効化/2)精神世界ア
ドレスの割り当て/③進化、といったものだ。
 1つめのアクティブフュージョン有効化については、す
でに説明したとおり、現時点でほとんどの人間がアクティ
ブフュージョンの一歩手前の状態にある。これを完全なア
クティブフュージョン状態にするための処理が有効化で、
XPシェルの傘を開くことで達成される。XPシェルの傘は 
本来惑星の意志と対話するためのもので、超強力な導体
H波を発して交信を行う。これは惑星にとっては適正の導
体H波の強度だが、人間にとっては強すぎるため、体内に
あるレーヴァテイル賃が励起されて通常より遙かに活性
になってしまう。つまり、全員のレーヴァテイル質が高ま
り、アクティブフュージョンを行うようになるのだ。
 その状態で、次のプロセスである精神世界アドレスの割
り当てを行う。精神世界アドレスは、SHサーバー空間内
であればどこでも割り当てて良いというわけではない。
適当に割り当てれば他人の領域と衝突したり、いのちの
塔との行き来ができずに極限病を発症することになる。
マニュアルで割り当てを行えば、ほぼ間違いなくアドレス
の衝突を起こし、また、β-6Dが定期的に行うクリナッ
プによって精神世界はすぐに初期化されてしまう。アルキ
ア研究所が発見した有効な回避手段は、アドレスを持つβ
純血種を多数用意し、それを捨てて人聞に割り当てるか。
既存のβ純血種や、死んでから時間が経ったβ純血種のア
ドレスを強制的に割り当てることだ。アルキア研究所は両
方の方法でアクティブフュージョンした人間の精神世界ア
ドレスを割り当てる予定だった。前者だけでは、一度に培
養できるβ純血種は数が限られている。後者はすでに、歴
史的に数万ともいう割り当てが存在しており、双万を使う
ことでかなりの人聞を正常にアクティブフュージョンでき
る。だが、実行すればほとんどのβ純血種は人間の誰かに
精神世界を譲ることになり、死亡してしまう。
 進化は、第三塔に独自に搭載されたEXEC_FLIPのサ
ポートを逆手にとった技術であり、アクティブフュージョン
した人間の物理体部分に抗体から抜き取った法則適用
してEXEC_FLIPで融合し、抗体と同じ性質を持たせ
ものだ。実際にはゲンガイの実験の時のように、完全に
融合するには時間がかかり、それまでに剥離する事があ
る。これは、第三世代のボディの場合、レーヴァテイル達
のSHサーバー側の肉体組成が変わっても、すぐに人間
側の肉体組成がミラーリングできないためだ。
 この形で進化するのは、使役される隷属種のみであ
る。隷属種に指示を与える支配種は個別にクリスタルを埋
め込む手術で成されるが、人間としての性質しか持たな
いため死の雲海の毒に耐えられない。アルキア研究所の
計画では、抗体の性質を持つ隷属種を死の雲海の下に送
って鉱物資源を運ばせたり、毒のない地域を調査させた
り、食料を生産させるなど、単なる労働力として隷属種を
扱っている。ラファエーレを筆頭とする研究所のメンバー
は、隷属種になるつもりは毛頭なかった。世界を救済する
という名目で、実質的には自分達が人類の支配者になる
ための計画であったことは疑いようのない事実である。

For the Human Evolution Project to reach its final stage, there are three essential conditions: First, all the humans must have a valid Active Fusion. Second, all of the need to have a Soulpace Address assigned. And third, they need to evolve.

Like we previously explained about the valid Active Fusion, almost everyone in Sol Cluster has already undergone this first step. A complete Active Fusion actually needs an special process to be considered as valid, which is executed once the XP Shell's antenna is opened. The antenna was originally made to converse with the Wills of the Planet, and serves as a communicator that releases extremely powerful Dynamic H-Waves. This level of strength is within a reasonable level for the Wills of the Planet, but since this is too strong for humans, this would excite the Reyvateil genes within their bodies far beyond anything else in the world, and force them to activate. In short, once the Reyvateil genes of everyone have been excited high enough, they will undergo the Active Fusion.

Once that condition has been fulfilled, the next process would be assigning Soulspace Addresses. However, this doesn't mean that they can just assign the Soulspace Adresses in any way they want within the SH Server. If the Addresses are assigned randomly, there is the possibility that it will clash with other Adresses belonging to other people, which will render the communication with the Tower of Life impossible, and the people involved will end developing the Border Disease. If the Addresses are assigned manually, most likely they will end clashing with each other, even if they are correct, although β-6D executes a periodical data cleanup to instantly reformat all of these defective Soulspaces. The only valid method the Archia Think Tank discovered to avoid these problems was to produce a large number of Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils in order for them to have Addresses within the SH Server, and then discard them to give the Addresses to the humans. In other words, they were going to assign the Addresses of both living and dead Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils to the Active Fusion people. With these two methods, the Archia Think Tank planned to assign the Soulspace Addresses to the Active Fusion humans. This was because the first method of using only living Reyvateils was limited since each Pureblooded β-type Reyvateil could be cultivated only once. And the latter method of using Addresses of the dead Reyvateils was because historically, many tens of thousands of Reyvateils had Addresses within the SH Server, and by using both of their Addresses they would be able to give the Active Fusion to most of humanity. However, once the project was executed, all of the Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils would have to hand over their Soulspace Addresses to someone among the humans, and that would kill them off.

As for the final step, the Evolution one, it's a technique made of an unexpected twisting of the support for the EXEC_FLIP program, which only the Third Tower can use. It basically uses EXEC_FLIP to fuse the physical parts of the humans with components taken from the Antibodies, giving them the same characteristics the Antibodies have. For example, at the moment in which the Reyvaroid experiment was performed on Gengai, the Reyvaroid still needed far more time for the fusion to be completed, so it was because of this that it was possible to separate them. However, this kind of change is impossible to perform on the bodies of Third Generation Reyvateils, given that even if their physical structure is changed inside the SH Server, the mirroring done inside of their brain would instantly revert any of these changes.

However, this kind of Evolution is only reserved for the Reyvaroid Slaves, which as the name says, will be the ones doing all the work. On the other hand, the Reyvaroid Rulers, which are the ones who give orders to the Slaves; had individual Crystals embedded into their bodies through a surgical operation, which makes them basically the same as normal humans, completely incapable of surviving to the poison of the Sea of Death. The plans that the Archia Think Tank had for this were basically sending the Slaves, which had the same nature as Antibodies; to below the Sea of Death to performs tasks like seeking mineral resources, searching for regions that weren't covered in poison, and producing food; and the Slaves would be simply treated as workers. Raphael became the Chairman because, unlike the other members of the Archia Think Tank, he didn't have any intentions of becoming a Slave. It's unquestionable that he saw this plan only as a means to become the ruler of all mankind, while trying to execute it under the pretext of saving the world.

 テロメアはレーヴァテイルにとって非常に重要なもの
である。人間のDNAについているテロメアは細胞の寿
命を決定する効果を持つが、レーヴァテイルのテロメアはま
ったく異なるもので、機能が似ているためにこの名が付
いたに過ぎない。レーヴァテイルの場合は、心臓ともい
える中核三角環を構成するヒンジの部分の六角体に存在
し、テロメアが寿命を決定している。いわばレーヴァテ
イルの死期を決定づけるカウントダウンタイマーなのだ。
 レーヴァテイルにテロメアがある理由は、実効時間を過
ぎたレーヴァテイルには動作保証が無いためである。β純
血種の中核三角環の動作保障期間は150年程度。この期
間を過ぎたレーヴァテイルは、中核三角環が停止するか、
異常動作をするため、その前に稼動を停止させるのだ。
 このテロメアは、オリジンのシュレリア、フレリアには実
装されていない。二人が開発された時期にはまだ中核三
角環というシステムは途上段階であり、搭載している心臓
部は名前こそ同じ中核三角環だが、βが搭載しているバ
ージョンとはまったく違うものだ。一方、同じオリジンでも
ティリアには最新型の中核三角環とテロメアが搭載され、
寿命がくれば死に至る。しかし、その寿命はβ純血穫と違
い、一定の期間に定められたものではない。
 レーヴァテイルは無理な行動を行うとテロメアがすり減
り、150年生きるβ純血種であってもそれより短い期間
で死に至る可能主もある。これはティリアとて例外では
なく、塔の再生やXPシェルの起動など、負担のかかる行動
を続けてきたティリアの残りのテロメアは、エンディング
時にはかなり減ってしまっていた。また、EXEC_FLIPの
行使も大きな負担を伴う。サキとフィンネルの人格交替
がこれに当たる。フィンネルに関しては1つのボディに4
つの精神世界アドレスを紐付けしていることでテロメアの
消費が4倍になっている。サキは精神世界の許容量が大
きいため、復数人格を有するととでの負担はないが、奇
跡を発生させるとテロメアを大きく消費する。2人の寿命
があとわすかだったのも仕方ないことなのである。

The Telomere are extremely important to the Reyvateils. While the Telomeres in human DNA have the effect of determining the life span of the cells, the Reyvateils' Telomere are completely different things, and besides both having the same name due to their functions, they don't have anything else in common. In the case of the Reyvateils, the Telomere are located in the hexagonal section of the hinges in the Triangular Nuclear Loop, which serves as the Heart of the Reyvateils, and they determine how long the Reyvateil will live. In other words, they are like a countdown timer that determines when the Reyvateil will die.

The reason why the Reyvateils have them is because, once they have exceeded their functional time limit, it will be impossible to guarantee that they will continue correctly functioning. In the case of the Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils, their Triangular Nuclear Loops have a functional time limit of 150 years. Once that time limit has expired, the Triangular Nuclear Loop is automatically stopped, to prevent any weird actions on part of the Reyvateil, or the Triangular Nuclear Loop from failing unexpectedly.

The Origin Reyvateils Shurelia and Frelia don't actually have Telomeres. When they were developed, the Triangular Nuclear Loop system was still in mid-development, and while the mechanism that acts as their hearts is also called a Triangular Nuclear Loop, it's completely different from the version used in the β-types. On the other hand, while Tyria is also an Origin, she uses a newer kind of Triangular Nuclear Loop, so she does have Telomere, which gives her a limited life span, and makes her mortal. However, and unlike the life span of the β-types, her remaining life time isn't set under an specific time interval.

Whenever a Reyvateil overexerts herself, she depletes her Telomere, which also make possible for Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils to live much less than the 150 years she is supposed to live. Not even Tyria is exempt from this, since actions like restoring the Tower and operating the XP Shell placed a large burden on her, continually depleting her Telomere, causing her to end with very few of them remaining at the end of the game. Also, the use of EXEC_FLIP also brings a heavy burden, as also does the persona exchange performed by both Saki and Finnel. Finnel has four Soulspace Addresses occupying a single body, which has the side-effect of consuming her Telomere at four times the normal rate. As for Saki, since her maximum Soulspace range it's so large, having many personae inside her body doesn't bring her much burden,but using her Miracles depletes her Telomere at an alarming speed. Having said this, it's pretty much inevitable that both Saki and Finnel ended having such short life spans.

 テロメアの補充は、テロメアを移動させることでしかで
きない。すなわち、作中でサキとフィンネルに補充したテ
ロメアは、ティリアのものを消費して補充している。
 逆こティリアに補充することは現実的ではない。リンカ
ーネイションでできるのは、β側に対して作用する事だけ
だからだ。なぜなら、βの中核三角環はそのポッドに入っ
ているボディに存在するが、ティリアのそれは塔の全然別
の場所にあるためである。また、ティりアのテ口メアの消
費量は尋常ではない。仮に塔内にあるティリアの中核三
角環を見つけ、適切な機材を開発し、テロメアを提供する
βがいたとしても、とてもまかないきれない。それこそ、
大量のβを使い捨て続けるようなことになってしまう。

The only way for replenishing Telomere is through Telomere Transfer. This means that when Tyria replenished Saki's and Finnel's Telomere during the game, she actually consumed her own to do it.

On the other hand, replenishing Tyria's Telomere is completely impossible. While it's possible to do this process at the Rinkernator, it's something that can only be done to β-types. This is because the Triangular Nuclear Loop of the β-types is located inside the Pod, or in other words, inside the body of the Reyvateil that entered the Pod. On the other hand, Tyria's Triangular Nuclear Loop is located in a completely different place within the Tower. Also, the rate at which Tyria consumes her Telomere is completely abnormal. If it was possible to find the place where Tyria's Triangular Nuclear Loop is located, and the appropriate machines for treating it were discovered, it would be possible to provide her with Telomere from a donating β-type, but this is a very unlikely scenario. That is the reason why so many β-types ended being used until they died throughout history.

The Wills of the Planet and the Wills of the Humans

 惑星の意志であれ人間であれ、想いの波動である定常
H波こそ性格を形成する源であり、その周波数帯域の差
以外に相違はない。H波以外にもD波やN波などの様々な
波が存在するが、アルシエルという惑星の圏内において
は、H波によって互いの意志や想いを通じ合わせている。
 厳密には、惑星にはH波以外にも想いに近い別の波動
が存在するが、人間には感じ取れない。これはU波と呼ば
れるもので、惑星の人格同士や、上位波動であるアルシ
エル恒星系の想いを受ける際に用いられる。惑星全体の
「総意」を構築するために不可欠なものだ。
 H波を軸にして考えると、惑星も人間も互換性がある
ことになる。惑星は、両者に共通して存在するH波で想い
や意志をカバーし、それを人型に封入しているのだ。実際
に、作中ではサキやフィンネルの体の中に惑星の意志で
ある別人格が存在しており、たびたび顕現する。しかし、
この段階で感情的にも思考的にも人間寄りとなってしま
う。人間という器に入ることで、自らの持つ精神周波数限
界の上部を削除された状態になるのだ。ゆえに、惑星の
意志といっても人智を超越するわけではなく、思考もちょ
っと変わった人、と収束している。

Both the Wills of the Planet and the humans have their personalities formed by the Waves of Feelings: the Static H-Waves, which also structures their base personality, but aside of the great difference between the frequency bands in which they are located, there isn't much difference between them. There are many others kinds of waves aside of the H-Waves, such as D-Waves and N-Waves, but within the area of the Planet Ar Ciel, the H-Waves are the medium that allow the reciprocal transmission of will and feelings.

Strictly speaking, there is other kind of waves aside of H-Waves that are pretty similar to them for the Planet in their capacity of conveying feelings, but humans can't feel them. These are called U-Waves, and are currently used for communicating feelings between fellow Wills of the Planet,and to receive the feelings that come from higher level beings than Ar Ciel, such as the star systems. This is because they are indispensable for all the Planets to structure their [Consensuses].

If we think of the H-Waves as a line in an axis, they would become the compatibility line between the Planet and the humans. The H-Waves covers the will and feelings band between both kinds of beings, which allows the Planet to seal them into a human shape. Practically speaking, you can see how the personae inside of Saki and Finnel, which are actually Wills of the Planet sealed within them, manifest from time to time. However, this method requires them to make the frequency bands for their feelings and thoughts to become closer to the humans (greatly downsize them). Once they enter a human vessel, they will lose the highest spiritual frequency limit they were capable of bearing. Therefore, we can conclude that even if they are called the Wills of the Planet, they haven't transcended human knowledge, and could even be considered as very odd people.

About the Fusion Between Reyvateils and Wills of the Planet

 ティリアが行ったアルルの取り込みは、オリジンを作
る方法に近い。アル・ルゥの定常H波を走査し、それを
詩魔法サーバー内に記憶するブリセット型なのである。
オリジンと違うのは、それが人工のものではなく、抗
体の精神である点だ。この処理を実行する詩EXEC_
COSMOFLIPS/.は第一紀に作られたものだが、アル
キア研究所ではこの手法を解析応用し、抗体の精神をH
波スキャンによって抽出した。その第一段階の成功は、
従来のβ純血種と同様の素体のデフォルトの精神世界
に、抗体の定常H波をROMとして詰め込んだものであ
る。しかし、この個体はすぐに暴走してしまった。暴走の
 田は、抗体としての要素を精神世界内に野放しにした
ためだ。だが、この失敗によって、抗体を統率する「抗体
頭脳」と呼ばれる存在が浮かび上がっている。アルキア
研究所は、その所在を突き止めるために試行錯誤した。

The way in which Tyria took in Arru is pretty close to the way in which the Origins are created. The process consisted in scanning Ar Ru's Static H-Waves, and recording them into the Song Magic Server in a preset form. The difference from the process for making an Origin is that this wasn't an artificial consciousness: it was drawn from a point in the minds of the Antibodies. The Song that executes this process, EXEC_COSMOFLIPS/., was made during the First Era, but the Archia Think Tank analyzed and put this method to practical use in order to extract a H-Wave Scan sample from the Antibodies. Once this first step was completed, they packed all of the Static H-Waves from the Antibodies as ROM into a default Soulspace, similar to the prime field of the Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils. However, this particular Reyvateil ended becoming berserk and destroying itself.

The reason why it became berserk was because they allowed the components of the Antibodies to run loose throughout her Soulspace. However, it was through this failure that they managed to discover the existence that leads the Antibodies, known as the [Antibody Brain]. Then, the Archia Think Tank initiated trial and error experiments to locate the exact place where the Antibody Brain was.

イルγ昇華体である。γ昇華体はSHサーバーの精神周波
数限界が高く設定されていることに加え、外部意志の維
持および管理に関する機能が搭載された、完全な惑星の
意志共存体だ。複数の人格が精神世界に共存でき、各人
格にプライマリとセカンダリの格付けができる。そして、
それをプライマリ人格が意識的にコントロールし、セカン
タり人格のSHサーバーを外部デバイスに設定できた。こ
れはβ-6Dサーバーを解析して応用したものであり、γ
昇華体は「意志を持つ小型β-6D」であるともいえる。
 プライマリはセカンダリに対して、SHサーバーの改ざ
んや人格のアクティブ・スリプ、消去、セカンダリに対す
る内部的な仮想ダイブなど、絶対的な権限を持つ。作中
ではサキア・ルメイがプライマリであり、サキを含む他人
格がセカンダリであった。プライマリ人格は絶対的権限を
持つが、それを維持し続けるために表に出ることが少
ない。現在の形にするまでにアルキア研究所は試行錯誤
を重ね、頻発するγ昇華体の不具合を減らしていった。
 やがて、アルキア研究所は外部デバイスを用いた、抗
体とSHサーバーの共存を試みる。生け捕りにした抗体を
SHザーバーを経由してy昇華体サキア・ルメイの精神世
界と繋げたのである。このとき惑星の総意は、抗体を通
じてサキアの精神世界にサキ、サラパトウール、フィラメ
ン卜を送り込んだ。作中でラファエーレが「サキも元は
抗体だ」と語るが、それは描出元が抗体だったからである。
 SHサーバーはH波しか受け入れないため、抗体を介し
た惑星の意志は、分離したH波の人格を選択して送ってい
る。そこでどのH波の人格が選択されるかは、U波によって
束ねられ一個体となっている、惑星の「総意」が決定した。

A new type of Reyvateil, and it's the fruit from the Antibody research in which the Archia Think Tank spent many years. A γ-Sublimate has her SH-Server spiritual frequency limit set at a much higher level, and is also equipped with a variety of mechanisms to house and summon external wills, which makes her the perfect being for coexistence with the Wills of the Planet. Because she is able to coexist with many other personae and share her Soulspace with them, each persona can be allocated as either Primary or Secondary. Under this definition, the Primary persona is the one that has conscious control over the body, while the SH Server of the Secondary personae is set in an external device. Because the γ-Sublimate was created by giving practical usage to the analysis performed on the β-6D Server, she can also be defined as [an small β-6D that houses Wills].

As for the what the Primary Persona can do to the Secondary ones, she has absolute control over them, since she can alter parts of the SH Server to put herself or other personae into active sleep, delete them, and even execute an internal virtual Dive into the other personae. During the game, Sakia Lumei is the Primary Persona, while Saki, who was other persona contained within her body, was a Secondary. While the Primary Persona has absolute control, she can't appear much on the real world if she wishes to maintain it. The current form of the γ-Sublimate was reached after many trial and error tests performed by the Archia Think Tank, in which the prototype γ-Sublimate Reyvateils frequently died due to malfunctions and other flaws.

Before long, the Archia Think Tank decided to use an external device, and tested to see if it would be possible for a Reyvateil's Soulspace to coexist with an Antibody in the SH Server. The Antibodies that thay captured were connected to the SH Server by using the γ-Sublimate Sakia Lumei's Soulspace. It was at this time that the Planet's Consensus sent in Saki, Filament and Sarapatra through the Antibodies. When Raphael says in the game that [Saki was originally an Antibody, too], he refers to the fact that she originally was in a Antibody when she descended into Sakia.

Since the SH Servers can only receive H-Waves, the Wills of the Planet that descended through the Antibodies chose to partition their H-Waves into personae when they were sent. Therefore, as for in which way the personae chose to distinguish from each other when they partitioned themselves into H-Waves, it was decided by an individual through the control of U-Waves. Namely, it was decided by the Planet's [Consensus].

β純血種

 サキの場合と同じようなプロセスで、フィンネルの中に
ソマやアル・ルゥなどが住み込むことになるが、彼女達
の目的はサキの考えとは正反対であり、両者は対立関係
にあった。二つの矛盾する決定は、H波的には対立してい
るが、U波的には両方とも承認であり、同意ということを
す。これはU波が6次元的波動であることから、さまざ
まな可能性軸を並行して走らせているためであった。
 サキアは惑星を取り込むことを前提としたγ昇華体で
あり、惑星の意志が入るのは必然といえる。だが実は、フ
ィンネルの精神世界に存在する人格もまた、元をたどれ
ばアルキア研究所に生け捕りにされていた抗体を経由し
ている。そこかう同一サーバーであるティリアのバイナリ
野を通過して隣のβ-6Dサーバー内に入り、そこに存在
するフィンネルのSHサーバーアドレスとチ工インしたの
である。これはアヤタネと抗体頭脳アル・ルゥが契約の上
で行ったことだが、アルキア研究所のγ昇華体技術の上
で成り立つたものでもあった。サキがγ昇華体に入り込む
より2年も早く、アル・ルゥはソーマ達をフィンネルに送り
込んでいる。アルキアのプロジェクトでは、サキアの素体
が培養される前からSHサーバーの外部デバイス接続は
完成し、その瞬間から惑星の意志も顕在化のルートを把
握していた。ただし、γ昇華体はプライマリ人格によるセ
キュリティが強固なため、アル・ルゥはそこに入るのを拒
絶している。そこでアヤタネの支援を受け、フィンネルに
根付くととにしたのである。だが、フィンネルは通常のβ
純血種であり、アル・ルゥのH波周波数帯とは異なるため、
同等の帯域を持つ人格を呼び込み、それをステップとす
ることで最終的に自らの具現化を目指した。アル・ルゥに
よって招き入れうれた人格が、スズノミアとソマの2名
である。スズノミアはアル・ルゥ自身の足がかり、ソーマ
は防衛役として呼ばれた。親人間派のユリシ力はその状
況に危機感を抱き、自発的にフィンネルに入っている。

While the same process that was performed in Saki was also done to make Soma and Ar Ru live within Finnel, their goals were completely the opposite from the ones Saki had, since they both antagonized the humans. These two contradictions were decided because even if they were opposites as H-Waves, they were in agreement under the U-Wave viewpoint, which is way the Consensus approved their sending at the same time. This is because the U-Waves are sixth-dimensional wave motions, which is why it's possible for various wave axis to run parallel to each other at the same time.

Sakia accepted in the Wills of the Planet because that was her reason to exist as a γ-Sublimate, so this was pretty much inevitable. However, in reality the personae that exist within Finnel's Cosmosphere originally come too from the captured Antibodies that the Archia Think Tank connected to the SH Server. At that moment, in the same instant in which they passed from Tyria's Binary Field to the β-6D Server, they were chained to Finnel's SH Server Address in β-6D. While this came because of the pact that Ayatane made with the Antibody Brain, Ar Ru, this was actually built upon the methods that the Archia Think Tank used to create the γ-Sublimate. Two years before Saki had descended into the γ-Sublimate, Ar Ru had sent Soma and the others into Finnel's body. This was because Archia's project required the connection between an external device and the SH Server to be completed before Sakia's prime field ended its cultivation period, which the Wills of the Planet believed in that moment that it would become their route for manifesting into the physical world. However, given the γ-Sublimate has an strong security due to the Primary Persona, Ar Ru refused to descend into her. It was then that she offered her support to Ayatane, in exchange for her allowing to be rooted into Finnel's mind. Still, Finnel is a normal Pureblooded β-type, and given the great difference of H-Wave frequency range between her and Ar Ru, she would need to summon with her other personae that had equivalent ranges to hers', and she did it just as a mere step for her to finally materialize in the physical world. Ar Ru summoned only other two personae to descend with her, which were Suzunomia and Soma. Suzunomia alone was more than enough for Ar Ru herself, but decided to summon Soma as well as protection, in case anything happened. On the other hand, Yurisica, who always had supported the humans, understood that situation as a great danger, and thus, she invited herself into Finnel's mind.

The Relationship between the Purges, the Planet, and the U-Waves

 惑星の意志達を束ねるU波とは、惑星の意志の集合の
検証に用いる波だ。惑星の意志は、U波によって常に「そ
れぞれの個」でありながら「総意」でもある。U波は極超
短波であり、その波動は約10の64乗までの帯域を持つ。
それゆえにU波を交信し合うには内包共存レベルの接触
が必要で、核から遠ざかれば交信は途絶えてしまうのだ。
 サキやサラパトウールのように表面にミラーリングして
おり、そのミラーのポジシヨンに対してしU波の交信をする
場合は、受信こそ可能だが、波は非常に微弱になってし
まう。それは、地表にいる時点で、すでに惑星の体外とい
う扱いのためだ。U波のエネルギーは1/10000以下に
まで落ち込み、惑星の力を使うことがほぼできない。さ
らに問題となるのが、衣服に代表されるD波構造物であ
る。通常はD波がU波と干渉するととはあり得ないが、極
めて微小なエネルギーの世界ともなれば、U波とD波が
波動交差することによって起きる干渉や減衰は避げられ
ない。これを避ける手段がパージなのである。

The U-Waves that are controlled by the Wills of the Planet are used to verify how they themselves are assembled. So in other words, while the Wills of the Planets are a [Consensus], they actually exists as [Individual Selves] due to the U-Waves. U-Waves are ultra-high frequency waves, so these waves can easily reach even a frequency range of approximately 10^64 Hz. That is why the U-Waves are necessary to be able to convey messages that imply coexistence, but if these waves are ever too separated from the time axis, the intercommunication that use them will be interrupted.

Saki, Sarapatra and the others are able of performing a mirroring from the surface of the Planet to the other Wills: in the case of U-Waves, the position of that mirroring would serve as the communication medium, which could make them possible receivers of the messages of the other Wills, but the waves would become extremely weak. That is because whenever they are on the surface, they are treated as if they were outside of the Planet's body. If their U-Wave energy descends to under 1/10000 of their usual level, they will lose almost every possibility of using the planet's power. There is also the problem of the D-Wave structures we represent as clothes. Normally, D-Waves shouldn't be able of interfering with U-Waves, but given how weak the planet has become, it's unavoidable that both U-Waves and D-Waves cross over each other, provoking effects like interferences and attenuation. The only method to prevent this is through Purging.

 コイルに電気を通すと磁界が発生する。電気の力と磁
力は異なる次元のエネルギーだが、干渉し、相互に影響
する。これとよく似た現象が波動同士にも発生し、それを
「波動交差」という。D波とH波の波動交差は、例えば霊
体が物理的な作用を起こすポルターガイスト現象が代表
例だ。波動交差が発生すると、H波は消耗・減衰し、D波
は秩序が乱れたり(=壊れる)、劣化する(=消耗する)。
 波動交差は当然、U波とD波、H波との間にも発生する。
 衣服が波動交差による悪影響を発するのは、D波成分に
プラスしてH波成分が多分に含まれるためだ。波動科学
的に言えば、衣服は糸を紡ぐ、布にする、縫製するなど、
様々な想いが含まれているのである。そのH波は微弱な
ものだが、地上で得られるU波もまた微弱なため、十分な
影響を受けてしまう受けてしまうのだ。

Whenever electricity flows through a coil, it creates a magnetic field. While the power of electricity and the power of a magnetic field are measured in different dimensions, they can interfere and cause effects over each other. A very similar phenomenon can happen between fellow waves, which is known as [Wave Crossover]. An example of H-Wave and D-Wave crossover would be when an spiritual body causes effects in the physical world, of which the most representative example would be the Poltergeist phenomenon. Whenever a Wave Crossover happens, the H-Waves may end dissipating or attenuating, the D-Waves may have their structure discomposed (destroyed) or deteriorated (dissipated).

The Wave Crossover is natural, and might happen between U-Waves, D-Waves and H-Waves.

Clothes can cause bad effects due to Wave Crossover, due to being composed not only of D-Waves, but also containing a great number of H-Waves. Speaking under Wave Science terms, the clothes are made by processes like weaving threads, turning them into cloth, and sewing them, which endows them with the feelings of every person who took a part in their making. While these H-Waves might be very weak, the U-Waves emitted from the surface of the Planet are very weak as well, which allows them to cause enough influence to distort them.

 惑星の意志は大きく「モディファイア」と「メンテナンサ
ー」に分類できる。本作に登場する惑星の意志のうち、モ
ディファイアはサキ、サラパトゥール、アル・ルゥ、レーレ。
メンテナンサーは、スズノミア、ソーマ、フィラメント、ユ
リシカである。
 モディファイアは創造を司る人格である。サキは惑星の
方向性を創造し続ける、モディファイアの中核に位置する
人格。サラパトゥールは局所的な創造人格である。レーレ
は人間と親和性のある古来からの創造者で、サキやサラ
パトウールをまとめる上位人格ともいうべき存在だった。
レーレと対極を成すモディファイアがアル・ルゥで、人間
を初期化し新たな惑星の秩序を作り出すため、数百年前
に生まれた創造者である。レーレとアル・ルゥはH波的に
は対立傾向にあるが、U波的には同一の扱いとなる。
 メンテナンサーは、モディファイアの設計指針に同意
し、実際にそれを維持していく意志である。フィラメント
は軌道修正を行う人格で、惑星にとって悪影響が発生し
そうなとき、それをいち早く感じ取って回避を行う。フィ
ラメントはメンテナンサーの総合的な部分に存在してお
り、その思考はソーマに対して大きく影響を及ぼす。ソー
マはフィラメントと反目する局所的なメンテナンサーであ
り、フィラメントが決めた指針に反対して天変地異を実行
する。両者は相反した目的を持つが、U波的には惑星の
総意が決めたことになる。これらのカテゴリの下に、さら
に「Powers(力)」「Wisdomes(叡智)」「Charities(愛)」
「Hymmers(想い)」という4つの役割属性力テコリが存
在し、それぞれの目的を細分化している。
 他の人格の役割としては、ユリシ力はエネルギーサイク
ルを司っている。H波、D波といった波動の流動管理が主
な役割だ。このユリシ力の想いが第一紀の波動科学に与
えた功績は計り知れない。そして、スズノミアはこの惑星
を維持するために謳い、そのエネルギーを各人格に供給
する役目を担う。惑星が元気だった頃、木が芽生えたり大
気が循環したのは、スズノミアの管理のたまものだ。だが
惑星のコアが崩壊したことで、惑星はエネルギーととも
に、スズノミアを含む多数の惑星の人格を失った。以降、
この惑星は方々に散ったわずかな波動エネルギーをやり
くりすることで、何とかその形を維持していたのである。

The Wills of the Planet can be divided into two large categories: the [Modifiers] and the [Maintenancers]. Among the Wills that appear in the game, Saki, Sarapatra, Ar Ru and Lere are all Modifiers. On the other hands, Suzunomia, Soma, Filament and Yurishica are all Maintenancers.

The Modifiers are the personae who control creation. Saki's trend as a Will of the Planet is to continue creating life, which give her a very central position among the Modifiers. Sarapatra is the localized creation persona. As for Lere, she has a great affinity with the humans, and has been worshiped since immemorial times as the Goddess of Creation, and we should say that she was the existence that serves as a superior to both Saki and Sarapatra, and links both of them together. The Modifier that serves as the exact antipode to Lere is Ar Ru, since she was born a few centuries ago to recreate the order of the Planet by erasing mankind from it, and resetting Ar Ciel to how it used to be. While from an H-Wave viewpoint Lere and Ar Ru appear as antagonistic to each other, from U-Wave viewpoint they are treated as if they were in agreement with each other.

The Maintenancers are the Wills that agree upon guidelines for the creations of the Modifiers, and currently try their best to preserve them. Filament is the persona in charge of the orbital adjustment, and as such, whenever any bad influence approaches to the Planet, she immediately corrects the orbit to avoid it. Filament exists as a very comprehensive part of the Maintenancers, but she also strongly disagrees with the great influence that Soma exerts. Soma is a local Maintenancer that opposes Filament, and whenever she disagrees with the guidelines that Filament has set, she immediately causes a natural disaster. While both have completely opposite goals, from a U-Wave viewpoint,that was decided by the Consensus of the Planet. And further below these two categories, there are other four Atribute Role categories for the Wills, with also further divides each one of their particular goals. These categories are: [Powers (Power)], [Wisdomes (Knowledge)], [Charities (Love)], and finally, [Hymmers (Feelings)].

Among the roles the other personae have, Yurisica controls the energy cycle of the Planet. In other words, she has the central role in the control of the flow of the waveforms called H-Waves and D-Waves. Her feelings also have the inestimable merit of having bestowed the Wave Science to the humans during the First Era. Also, Suzunomia is the Will that has the role of singing to preserve the Planet, and supplying its energy to each one of the other personae. When the Planet was still in perfect conditions, Suzunomia was in charge of the cycle of souls, which made the trees sprout and grow large. However, when the Planetary Core was destroyed, the energy of the Planet disappeared as well, and the many personae of the Planet that contained Suzunomia were lost as well. Since then, this Planet has somehow managed to conserve a very small part of the wave energy that got dispersed on that tragic day, which is how it has managed to exist up until the current days.

Geography Explanation: Clustania

レーヴァテイルの国家、クラスタニアは第三塔内の上層部に
ある。街は平和で美しく、レーヴァテイルにとって楽園ともい
える環境だが、人間は蔑まれ、虐げられている。

Clustania, the country of the Reyvateils, is located in the upper areas of the Third Tower. While the city itself is a paradisiacal environment to the Reyvateils, due to its peace and beauty, the humans are despised and oppressed.

 クラスタニアは塔内に存在する国で、国民のほとんど
がレーウァテイルβ純血種で、絶対的にレーヴァテイル
上位の社会が形成されている。国家としては、3088年
にクロガネ研究所から独立する形で塔内に設立された。
以後、レーウァテイルの能力を活かして勢力を拡大し、
3153年にハ一ヴェスターシャが総帥に就任すると人間
に対する弾圧が加速。現在では人間が住む大牙を統制
下に置き、事実上ソル・クラスタの統治国家として君臨す
るに至る。ただし、クロガネラボの後継者によって設立さ
れたアルキアに対しては名目上は支配地としているもの
の、自治を黙認している状態である。
 クラスタニア内には、レーウァテイルが住むクラスタ
ニア行政区とレーウァテイル居住区、人間が住むスレイ
ウ街区の三つの地域が存在する。クラスタニアにおいて
は人間はあくまでレーヴァテイルに使役する奴隷に等し
い存在であり、両者の格差は大きい。それは住居にも反
映されており、最先端の科学技術が駆使された美しい町
並みを誇るレーウァテイル居住区に対し、スレイヴ街区
は劣悪な環境で、さながら強制収容所に近い雰囲気を持
つ。クラスタニアに強制的に連行された人間は全員がス
レイヴ街区に隔離され、クレンジンクで自我を奪われ、レ
ーヴァテイルのために働かされているのだ。

Clustania is a country located inside the Tower whose population consists of almost exclusively Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils, which means that its society was constructed for them to be the superior class. Clustania was established as a nation in 3088 AD, when the Reyvateils constructed their own society inside the Tower and declared their independence from the Kurogane Laboratories. Later on, the Reyvateils began to enlarge their influence by using their abilities, and when Harvestasha began ruling Clustania in 3153 AD, the increased the speed at which the humans were oppressed. Currently, the Great Fang in which the humans live is under Clustania's control, which also makes Clustania pretty much the absolute ruler of Sol Cluster. However, while technically the successor to the Kurogane Laboratories, Archia, is under their control as well, Clustania has allowed them a certain margin of self-government.

Clustania itself is composed by three districts: Clustania Governorate and the Reyvateil Residential district, in which the Reyvateils live; and the Slave District, in which the humans live. Given that Clustania treats the humans as mere slaves that live only to serve the Reyvateils, there is a great inequality between both sides. This even reflected in their living conditions: in contrast to the Reyvateils, who live in a beautiful city boasting cutting-edge science and technologies, the humans live in the much inferior Slave District, which is pretty much like a concentration camp. All of the humans that have been arrested by Clustania are quarantined inside the Slave District and have their egos stripped away from them by Cleansing, to make them work to death for the Reyvateils.

クラスタニアは第三塔上層、ティリアの頭部を模したティリ
アヘッドと呼ばれる部位の中に存在する。中央上部に見える、
小さな塔のような建造物がクラスタニア行政区。その下に
レーヴァテイルが往む街、レーヴァテイル居住区が広がる。
人間が収容されたスレイヴ街区は、さらにその下にある。

Clustania is located in the upper areas of the Third Tower, inside of the section that imitates the shape of Tyria's head called the Tyria Head. The small tower-like structure that can be seen raising up in the center is the Clustania Governorate. The area that extends below it is the Reyvateil Residential District, the city in which the Reyvateils live. Finally, the Slave District, in which the humans are imprisoned, is located further below.

クラスタニアの目指した「クレンジング」

The [Cleansing] that Clustania Attempts to Realize

 人間が引き起こした「七つの血痕事件」や「クラスノ
インフェリア」によってアルシエルの環境は破壊され、
惑星は終焉への道を歩んでいた。クラスタニアのレーヴ
ァテイルたちは人間の科学力を危険視し、人間を「ア
ルシエルを滅びに追いやる存在」と捉えるようになる。
やがてレーヴァテイルたちは、被壊を続ける人間たちか
ら惑星を守るため、最終的な手段を選択した。それは、
人間を洗脳して自発的な行動を制限し、レーヴァテイル
に従順な存在とすることだった。
 この行為は人間の野蛮で邪な感情を浄化するものとさ
れ、「クレンジンク」と呼はれた。しかし、自我を奪われる
人間からしてみれば、クレンジンクは到底受け入れられる
ものではなく、大牙を中心に大きな反発を生む。それに伴
いレーヴァテイル側の対応も激化し、抵抗分子を排除す
るために武力行使が開始された。人間とレーヴァテイル
の衝突は拡大の一途を辿り、クラスタニアは見せしめの
意味も込めて街そのものをまるごと消滅させるなど、人間
に対する弾圧がエスカレートしていくことになる。
 クラスタニアの行為は人間にとってはただの殺戮であ
り、より大きな抵抗を生む原因にもなったが、これは人間
は増えすぎるべきではないというクラスタニアの上層部
(総帥ハーヴェスターシャおよび絢胤妖家)の意向とも合
致していた。その一方で、人間たちはクラスタニアの弾圧
に恐れおののき、街を消し去ることをクレンジングと呼ぶ
ようになる。クレンジンクという言葉は本来は洗脳による
浄化を指していたか、人間たちの間ではクラスタニアの
恐怖政治の代名詞として浸透していくこととなった。

Ar Ciel's environment was destroyed, and the Planet was now walking towards the path of its own demise, all due to the catastrophes the humans caused: the [Seven Bloodstains Incident] and the [Grathnode Inferia]. The Reyvateils from Clustania regarded the scientific power of the humans as dangerous, and perceived them as the [beings that would drive Ar Ciel to its own destruction]. Before long, the Reyvateils decided it was time to use a final method to protect the Planet and stop the humans from further destroying it. Said method ended being brainwashing the humans to control their spontaneous actions, and make them into obedient beings to the Reyvateils.

Since these methods were made to cleanse the humans from the evil feelings they had due to being so savage, they were called [Cleansing]. However, from the perspective of having their egos stripped away, the humans decided that Cleansing was something they could never accept, and started large protests against it, with the largest one being in the Great Fang. This greatly aggravated the relationships with the Reyvateils, and Clustania began using its military force to eliminate any rebel elements. This of course only increased the scope of the human-Reyvateil conflicts, up to the point in which Clustania began annihilating complete cities just to serve as examples of what would happen to anyone who opposed them, further escalating the level of oppression they had over the humans.

To the humans, Clustania's actions were nothing but genocide, and while they served as the causes for even greater opposition to them, Clustania's executive staff (led by Harvestasha, who in turn was under the control of the Ayatane Necrofamily) finally came to the decision that they shouldn't allow the humans to continue multiplying. On the other hand, the humans feared Clustania's oppression, and ended calling "Cleansing" the total annihilation of the towns and cities. The word Cleansing actually only refers to the purification done by brainwashing, but ended being infused with the representative fear that Clustania's policies gave to the humans.

Reyvateil Residential District

 クラスタニアのながでも、レーヴァテイルたちだけが
 住む街であるレーヴァテイル居住区は、環境が完全に整
備されておリ、住人は快適な生活を送ることができる。こ
こでは、住人一人に与えられる土地の面積、環境、食事
をはじめとするさまざまなサービスが政府によって決定
され、ずべてのレーヴァテイルが豊がに暮らせるよう計
画されているのだ。その生活水準はソル・クラスタ全体
でも最高ランクに位置し、人間たちが住んでいる大牙は
もちろん、高度な科学技術を誇るアルキアをも凌駕する
ものである。
 このシステムが破綻しない理由の一端は、クラスタニ
アの政府が行っている完全な人口統制によるところが大
きい。人工生命体であるレーヴァテイルは、政府がたて
る綿密な計画によって、毎年作られる数が決められてい
る。これにより、レーヴァテイルの人口が増えすぎること
 はなく、常に適正な人口となり、生活環境も一定以上に
保たれているのだ。
 また、レーヴァテイルの住居は、一軒ごとにダイブマ
シンが設置されている。これは詩魔法を紡ぐことをはじ
めとするレーヴァテイルの能力開発に用いられるものだ
が、他の地域のダイブマシンと違い、部屋には住人であ
るレーヴァテイル用のポッドが一基しが存在していない。
これらのダイブマシンはすべてスレイヴ街区に繋がって
おり、レーヴァテイルがマシンを使用すると、スレイヴ街
区に住んでいる人間の中から適した者が選定され、自動
的にダイブが行われるようになっている。
 ダイバーとレーヴァテイルの二人の信頼関係が重要と
なる通常のダイブとは違い、クラスタニアでは人間はレ
ーヴァテイルの手助けを行なう程度の存在でしがない。
お互い顔も知らない者同士でダイブを行うことが常識で
あり、レーヴァデイルにとってはダイブに必要なため一時
的に人間を利用しているとい認識だ。このシステムに
より、クラスタニアのレーヴァテイルたちは好きなときに
ダイブを行うことが可能だが、人間側の負担については
まったく考慮されていないのが実情である。

Even within Clustania, the city in which only Reyvateils can live is the Reyvateil Residential District, in which the environment is completely outfitted for its inhabitants to live the most comfortable life possible. This is begins by giving to each specific person a plot of land, an environment and food, among the many other services that are determined by the government, which are planned to allow the Reyvateils to live in abundance. Their standard of living is considered the highest among all the people in Sol Cluster, which means that they surpass both the human-inhabited Great Fang, and Archia, which boasts on its technological superiority.

The main reason for this life system being pretty much infallible is due to Clustania's government enforcing a total control over the population of the country. As the Reyvateils are artificial life forms, the government carefully projects how many Reyvateils will be created per year. Due to this, the Reyvateil population never increases excessively, maintaining an constant number of people in order to preserve the environment in which they live.

Also, each Reyvateil has a Dive Machines installed inside their houses. While they are used when the Reyvateils begin developing their powers and start crafting Song Magic, these differ from the Dive Machines used in the other regions in that each house only has one Pod for the use of the owner of the house. These Dive Machines are all linked to the Pods in the Slave District, so whenever the Reyvateils use them, a human partners that is deemed as the most appropriate for them is chosen from the people in the Slave District, and the Dive is conducted automatically.

This differs from the normal Dives, in which the mutual trust between the Diver and the Reyvateil is essential, since Clustania doesn't consider the humans as beings that would be fit for assisting the Reyvateils in any form. Dives in which both participants don't even know the name of the other person are pretty much the general norm in Clustania, and are recognized as only temporarily using the humans because the Reyvateils need the Dives to strengthen their Song Magic. While this system allows the Clustanian Reyvateils to Dive whenever they wish, actually they don't even consider the burdens they impose to the humans by doing them.

Paseo St

A large street that goes on from the Promenade, bathed by the gentle sunlight. Its name comes from the Spanish word "Paseo" (stroll), due to being peaceful enough for anyone to want taking an stroll through it. Akane's house is located in this street.

の、飾り気がない彼女らしく、質素で殺風景。ほとんど家に帰らないため、生活感を

Akane's residence. While being feminine enough due to the pastel tones and hues used for the inside, that she hasn't paid much attention to the decoration is pretty typical of her personality, which makes it pretty much plain due to its simplicity. Because Akane rarely goes home, it doesn't feel as if anyone lived here. Whenever she gets a day off, Akane simply goes home and spends the day resting.

The main street of the Reyvateil Residential District, which connects both the Paseo St. and the Clustanai Governorate. Its features are the structures that were made with an overflowing feminine touch, such as the fancy colors and gentle curves. Since the town areas look pretty much like a theme park from the outside, when Finnel was guiding Saki around this place, they both admired how [cute] it was.

 クラスタニアに住む人間たちの居住区。クラスタニ
アの国民はほとんどがβ純血種のレーヴァテイルであ
るが、クレンジング(洗脳)を受け入れたり、強制的に
連行されてきた人間がわずかながらも存在している。
 スレイヴ街区は画一化された設計の石造りの家が
延々と続き、まるで収容所や刑務所のような外観を持
つ。ここでの人間の扱いは、極めて劣悪なものだ。スレ
イヴ街区の管理者が「看守」と呼ばれていることから
も、囚人として認識されていることがうかがえる。部屋
はすべてワンルームで、必要最低限のもの以外は何も
ない。ただしダイブマシンだけは必ず備え付けられてお
り、クラスタニアのレーヴァテイルたちのためにいつで
もダイブができるようになっている。
 なお、スレイヴ街区に住む人間は全員がクレンジング
を受けることを義務付けられている。それでも、トトラ
をはじめとする子供たちや何人かの人間は、ミュートの
配慮でクレンジングを受けていない状態だった。

The residential sector of Clustania in which the humans reside. While Clustania's population is almost completely composed of Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils, they also accept an small number of Cleansed (brainwashed) humans, which are mostly brought here against their will.

The Slave District is composed by a series of standardized stone houses that extend seemingly endlessly, and looks from the outside like a complete concentration camp or prison. In here, the humans are treated as the lowest class of living beings. Since even the administrators of the Slave Distric are called "jailers", all of its inhabitants are pretty much classified as prisoners. All of the houses have only one-room, which only have the bare minimum of requirements for survivability. However, all of them have to be equipped with a Dive Machine, because these are what the Clustanian Reyvateils use whenever they Dive.

Furthermore, all of the human residents of the Slave District are obligated to undergo Cleansing. However, many humans and children, beginning with Totora, were saved from being Cleansed thanks to Mute's consideration.

Slave District

This is the image of the Slave District: rows of crude stone buildings that endlessly continue as far as the eye can see. This is a townscape that could never be compared to the Reyvateil Residential District's pastel-colored one. Everything walking around seems to be depressed, looking always at the ground. Under the floor of the houses there are subterranean tunnels that go through almost the entire region, making possible to move around the District.

This is the elevator used for going from the Slave District to any other of Clustania's areas. This place is protected by a barrier, so the humans won't be able of escaping.

The rooms of the Slave District houses give off pretty much the same feeling as a single-person prison cell. Besides the Dive Machines that are installed in them, there isn't any other noteworthy thing.

Clustania Governorate

 クラスタニア行政区はレーヴァテイル街区の中心地
で、真鍮製のパイプの束のような部分に位置している。
その最深部には、クラスタニア総帥であるハ一ヴェスタ
ーシャ(サフフレーム)が配置されたモジュールハ一ヴ
ェスターシャや、β純血種を製造する培養施設などがあ
り、クラスタニアの中枢機関が集中している。また、塔
の管理を行う施設は塔の最頂点であるクウに存在して
いるが、この場所に到達するためにはクラスタニア行政
区を徒歩で通り抜ける必要がある。
 クラスタニア行政区で主に行なっていることは、国内
の環境維持のほか、ダイブの管理、人口統制など多岐
にわたる。なかでも重要な事項がレーヴァテイルの製
造計画だ。クラスタニアのレーヴァテイルを取り巻く環
境が最高の状態を維持できるようにレーヴァテイルの
製造をコントロールし、人口を管理しているのである。

The Clustania Governorate is located at the very center of the Reyvateil Residential District, and it's located inside the place that looks like a bundle of brass pipes. All the main facilities of Clustania are gathered here, which means that the Module Harvestasha in which the Harvestasha that leads Clustania (Subframe) is installed, and the nurturing facility in which the Pureblooded β-types are created; are both located here. Also, while the facility for controlling the Tower is located at its very top, in Ku, it's necessary to walk through the Clustania Governorate to reach the higher sections of the Tower.

The activities that are done within the Clustania Governorate include among other things preserving the nation's environment, control the Dives, and regulate the population. However, the most important of them is the planning for creating new Reyvateils. In order to keep the environment that surrounds Clustania's Reyvateils in the best possible conditions, they have to control how many are created, and keep an strict regulation over the population.

行政区内には、空中に浮かぶ通路が張り巡らされて
いる。通路は半透明の素材でできており、その外観は
科学が発達した未来都市を思わせるものだ。

Many floating pathways stretch throughout the inside of the Governorate. Since the pathways are made of a partially transparent material, their appearance evokes the image of a futuristic, scientifically advanced city.

There are many of these plazas along the pathways, which also have monuments that resemble brass instruments placed in their center. Many similar monuments can be seen throughout Clustania.

レーヴァテイルβ純血種を生み出す、三極式培養槽が
多数設置された施設。フィンネルはここの培養棲を破
壊して生まれ出た、と勘違いされていた。
Beta Nurturing Facility

This facility has a countless number of tripolar nurturing tanks installed in the inside, which are used for creating Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils. A misunderstanding was made here about Finnel being born by destroying the nurturing tank in which she was created.

行政区内はいくつかの階層に分かれており、通路に
よって複雑に繋がっている。それぞれの階層は、各所
に設置された工レベーターを使って移動できる。

The Governorate is divided in several floors, which are connected through a complex network of pathways. It's possible to go from a floor to other by using the elevators that are placed all over the area.

There is a countless number of rooms in the wall surfaces of the Governorate. There are various that have tables and chairs, which give them an appearance similar to a conference room. On the other hand, there are also various rooms filled with containers, which make them more similar to storerooms.

クラスタニアの乗り物

Clustania's Vehicles

 クラスタニアは高度な科学技術と文明レベルを有す
る国であり、飛空艇を中心とする交通機関に関しても
充分な発達を遂げている。ただし、塔の上層部に位置す
る立地と、後述するプローム壁の存在により、大牙やア
ルキアとは隔離された環境にある。さらにクラスタニア
のレーヴァテイルは国内から出る必要がないため、他
の地域との交流は民間レベルでは皆無であり、クラス
タニアと他所を結ぶ交通機関は塔内を縦に貫通してア
ルキアまで到達する、鉄道のグランヴァートゲージくら
いしが存在していない。
 交通機関の運行を決定的に阻害しているのが、塔の
中腹部に張られているプローム壁である。このプロー 
ム壁は、プラズマエネルギーの層であるブラストライン
を人工的に作り出したもので、飛空艇の通過を阻み軍
事的な侵攻を防ぐ目的で作られた。クラスタニア側か
ら大牙やアルキアに軍を差し向ける際には部分的に穴
を開ければ、戦艦や戦闘機が通過できるため、事実上
の一方通行となっているのである。

Due to being a country with a highly advanced technology and civilization level, Clustania achieved a great development in its transportation facilities, with the airships being the main ones. However, since they are located in the upper floors of the Tower, and the existence of the Prome Wall (explained further below), they live in an environment isolated from both Archia and the Great Fang. Furthermore, since the Clustanian Reyvateils don't need to go outside of their country, they have next to no interaction with people from other regions, so there aren't any other transports that connect them to other towns cities, excepting for the Granvert Gauge railroad that runs throughout the Tower up to Archia.

However, the definitive hindrance for the transportation services comes from the Prome Wall, which was erected around the middle areas of the Tower. The Prome Wall is basically an artificial plasma layer similar to the Blastline, which was created to impede the passage of airships and avoid any invasions in the Clustanian territory. Whenever they send anyone to either the Great Fang or Archia, Clustania partially opens the Prome Wall by creating holes in it, so their warships and fighters can go across it, making it pretty much a one-way street.

Clustanian Battleships

クラスタニアが誇る巨大戦艦。導力を発生するフリ
ッパー機関を艦の中央部に配置し、前後対称の形状
とすることで速度よりも導力的な安定を優先した設
計がとられている。武装は浮遊砲台を多数搭載して
いるほか、クレンジングに用いる都市破壊用の巨大
砲と、大型の詩魔法増幅器を備える。
Clustanian Warship

These are the gigantic battleships that Clustania is so proud of. These ships have a Symphonic Power generator (a Flipper) as their main parts, and were designed to be completely symmetrical from both back and front due to giving priority to stabilizing the consumption of Symphonic Power over speed. For weapons, they are equipped with several floating batteries, a gigantic cannon used exclusively for Cleansing (completely destroying) cities, and a large Song Magic amplifier.

高速舟行が可能な軍用飛空艇。搭乗員は
二名。小型ながらも大出力の導力発生機関
と、詩魔法を増幅するシステムを搭載して

め、発生させた導力流をそのまま推進力と
して用いるものが主流となっている。
Clustanian Fighter

These are two-seat military airships capable of reaching extremely high speeds. Despite being very small, they are equipped with a Song Magic amplifier system and an extremely high output Symphonic Power-emitting engine. Because Clustania's fighters can generate a great quantity of Symphonic Power due to this amplification system, they use the resulting Symphonic Power flow as their main propulsive power and energy source.

Whelk Scooter

カタツムリを連想させる独特の形状をした一人用の
小製の乗り物。あまり速度は速くないものの、クラ
スタニアではメジャーで、軍用、一般用を問わず幅
広く普及している。貝殻のように見える部分にプリッ
パー機関の円盤が内臓されており、生み出した導力
で浮遊しで低い高度をゆっくりと航行する。
Whelk Scooter

An small, single-seat vehicle whose unique shape was based off from a snail. Despite not being very fast, it's unquestionable that it has greatly spread within Clustania, and it's now one of the major transports used by the normal people and the military. The part that looks like the shell has a round Flipper in the inside, which generates enough Symphonic Power to allow the vehicle to float at a moderate altitude and move at an slow pace.

The Hand-to-Hand Combat Methods Used by the Clustanian Reyvateils

 強力な詩魔法を謳うレーヴァテイルは、戦闘時
にも高い能力を発揮する。しかし、彼女たちは肉
体的にはか弱い女性であり、格闘などの直接的
な攻撃手段を苦手とする傾向がある。これまでの
「アルトネリコ」シリーズに登場したヒロインたち
は近距離攻撃手段を持たず、敵の接近は大きな危
険を意味していた。ココナは敏捷さを活かした格
闘術を駆使して活躍するが、彼女はレーヴァテイ
ル質が発症する前に格闘術を身に付けている。
 しかし、クラスタニアのレーヴァテイルたちは他
地域のレーヴァテイルとは違い、近距離攻撃手段
を用いて戦う者が数多く見受けられる。クラスタニ
ア行政区などに敵として出現するレーヴァテイル
は、詩魔法よりも肉弾戦を基本に戦闘するのだ。
クラスタニア出身のリッカリョーシャも、必殺技の
「花鳥風月」をはじめとする格闘術を用いる。

The Reyvateils can sing extremely powerful Song Magic, which allows them to exhibit great abilities during a battle. However, since they have the frail bodies of a woman, they have the tendency to be bad at hand-to-hand combat and other similar ways of direct fighting. All of the Heroines that have appeared thus far in the [Ar tonelico] series haven't been able of fighting hand to hand because getting close to the enemy would put them in great danger. Cocona can act very nimbly and it's pretty good at fighting, but this is because she learned to fight far and trained daily before her Reyvateil genes had awakened.

However, Clustania's Reyvateils are very different from the ones that live in other regions because, as you might have seen, most of them prefer to actually fight hand-to hand. All of the Reyvateils that appear as enemies inside the Clustania Governorate and other areas actually fight more with their fights than using Song Magic. This is visible even in Richaryosha's case, who was born in Clustania, especially in her Super Attack [Beauties of Nature*].

TN: The official localization calls this attack "Flower Bird Wind Moon", which pretty much loses the meaning that this four-kanji combination has.

Geography Explanation: The Great Fang

大牙は塔周辺にある2つの隆起こした峰で、人間が住んでいる
地域である。大牙の歴史はそのまま人間とレーヴァテイルとの
戦いの歴史であり、両者の激突により多くの血が流れてきた。

The Great Fang are the two peaks that rise in the area around the Tower, and are one of the regions in which people live. The history of the Great Fang is basically a history of wars between humans and Reyvateils, with the clashes between both sides causing large blood spills.

2つの峰からなるかつての大地,/pre>
==The Land that Ended Becoming the Two Peaks==

<pre> 大牙とは、第三塔の周りにある巨大な飛び出した岩
の事で、蒼天峰、堕天峰の2つの峰からなる。現在、ソ
ル・クラスタ地方において塔以外で人間が住むことが
できる唯一の地域であり、特に蒼天峰には数多くの人
間のコミュニティ(街や集落)が存在している。
 かつては、大牙の周辺地域は平坦な大地であった。
しがし、3031年の七つの血痕事件によって大地が押
し上げられて隆起し、現在の地形となったのである。高
度が低い場所は毒ガスの層である死の雲海に覆われ
ているため、人間が住める範囲はそう広くない。それで
も、残った人々は2つの峰にへばりつくようにして辛う
じて生きながらえてきた。
 現在、大牙に住む人々はクラスタニアに強い反感を
抱いている。これはクラスタニアの圧政に長らく苦し
められ、数多くのコミュニティがクレンジングによって
消滅したためだ。また、比較的規模が大きいコミュニテ
ィは地下に存在している。地上に残ったコミュニティは
どれも小さな集落ばかりで、いずれも人口が千人未満
程。大きいコミュニティはクラスタニアに目をつけられ
て分割されるが、強制的に直轄地にさせられた。
 大牙はグラスノインフェリア以前の技術が数多く残っ
ているため、地表のみならず地下でも農業や畜産業が
発達し、充分な食料供給がなされている。また、パラメ
ノ技術(導力吸収技術)によって全域に安定した導力
が供給されているため、クラスタニアの脅威を除けば
人々はそれなりに豊かな暮らしを送っている。

The Great Fang are the two enormous rocks that protrude around the Tower, forming two peaks known as the Blue Heaven Peak and the Fallen Heaven Peak. This is the only area in Sol Cluster in which people can live now, aside of the Tower. This is especially true for the Blue Heaven Peak, in which there are several human communities (both towns and villages) established.

A long time ago, the land around the Great Fang used be a flat terrain. However, due to the Seven Bloodstains Incident that happened in 3031 AD, the land got uplifted and rose, taking the shape it currently has. Because the lowermost peaks have been covered by the poison gas layer of the Sea of Death, the areas that can be inhabited by the people are very scarce. However, the survivors to the disasters still cling to the two peaks for their lives, despite the hard conditions.

Currently, the inhabitants of the Great Fang harbor an strong animosity against Clustania, because of the long time they have suffered under Clustania's tyrannical rule, and of the destruction of several communities because of the Cleansing. Furthermore, the comparatively larger communities are all located underground. Above ground, the only communities remaining are small villages which don't even reach the 1000 inhabitants mark. This is because any large communities would fall in Clustania's aim and be forced to dissolve, or to be under their direct control.

Given that a great part of the technologies from before the Grathnode Inferia still exist in the Great Fang, both the surface and underground communities have greatly developed their agriculture and stockraising, allowing them to produce enough food to sustain themselves. Also, due to the Symphonic Power being reliably produced in all the region through Parameno technologies (Symphonic Power Absorption Technologies), the communities that have been classified as threats by Clustania are able of enjoying very abundant lives.

蒼天峰

Blue Heaven Peak

蒼天峰の地図。現存する大多数のコミュニティが集
中しており、その中にはトコシヱ隧道や上帝門とい
った大規模なコミュニティが存在する。アオトが育っ
た蒼谷の郷は蒼天峰の辺境に位置している。

The map of the Blue Heaven Peak. Currently, a large number of communities are gathered here, the largest ones among them being the Eternus Shaft and the Ciela Gate. The Blue Canyon Hamlet, in which Aoto was raised, is located in the most remote regions of the Blue Heaven Peak.

人が消えた堕天峰

The Deserted Fallen Heaven Peak

 堕天峰は、蒼天峰と対を成す峰の一方だが、現
在この地に人間はほとんど住んでいない。堕天峰
の住人たちは、この地を追われるか抵抗を続けて
クレンジングされてしまったのだ。
 もともと大牙があった地域には、グラスノインフ
エリァ以前にも人々が住んでおり、第一紀から伝
わるテクノロジーも数多く残存していた。七つの血
痕事件とグラスノインフェリアによっていったん破
滅したものの、その地下にはかつての街の一部が
残されていたのだ。これは蒼天峰についても同様
で、地下にあるコミュニティのトコシヱ隧道では、
随所に旧時代の都市の名残を見ることができる。
 堕天峰は、大牙の中で最も激しくクラスタニア
に抵抗した地域でもあった。大牙連合を束ねてク
ラスタニアに反旗を翻したゲンガイは、先人に敬
意を表し、無人となったこの地にコミュニティを再
度設立して堕天峰と名付けた。しかし、そのコミュ
ニティも本作の物語の中でクラスタニア軍によっ
て消滅させられている。

While the Fallen Heaven Peak serves as the counterpart to the Blue Heaven Peak, current almost no people live in it. Basically, all of the people who resided here were driven away due to the repeated Cleansings that were done here in order to quell down any opposition.

Originally, as one of the areas in the Great Fang, a large number of people from before the Grathnode Inferia lived here, which also means that there were a great number of remains from the technologies of the First Era. Due to the destruction caused by the Seven Bloodstains Incident and the Grathnode Inferia, a part of what used to be city was left in the underground areas of the peak. This is true for the Blue Heaven Peak as well, since it's possible to see remains from cities of ancient times in the underground community of Eternus Shaft.

The Fallen Heaven Peak was noteworthy due to being the place in which the opposition to Clustania was the most extreme, even for the Great Fang. Gengai, who united the Great Fang communities into a coalition to rise in revolt to Clustania, simply did so to honor his ancestors, and reestablished a new community in this deserted land with the name of Fallen Heaven Peak. However, that community was completely destroyed by the Clustanian Army during the course of the game.

中央にそびえたつ第三塔を挟むようにして隆起した蒼天峰、堕天
峰の2つが大牙。その外観が動物の牙のように見えることからそ
う呼ぼれるようになった。高度が低い地域は死の雲海で人が住め
ず、度重なるクラスタニアの干渉やクレンジングが行われるなどの
過酷な環境でありながら、この地の人々はたくましく生きてきた。

Great Fang Structure

The two peaks: the Blue Heaven Peak, and the Fallen Heaven Peak, which protrude around the Third Tower, which rises in the center, are the Great Fang. The reason for the name comes from the peaks being shaped like the fangs of an animal. The people cannot live in the areas that are so low that they were covered by the Sea of Death, and they have been hardened due to having to live within a harsh environment, all while being subjected to Clustania's frequent interventions and Cleansings.

Blue Canyon Hamlet

 大牙の辺境にある小さな村。幼少期に両親を亡くし
たアオトはこの村に住む鳶の親方に預けられ、成長し
ていった。
 蒼谷の郷は彩音回廊(塔の天候制御システム)の効
果が及ぶ限界地点ぎりぎりの場所に位置しており、人
の手でコントロールされた気候と自然の気候が半々に
入り交じる環境にある。そのため、年中通して風が強
く、肌寒い。
 村の中には数多くの牙状に隆起した岩が各所に見ら
れるが、村人たちは牙と牙の間にロープを張り、そこに
風車を設置している。人々は風車が回る際に発生する
エネルギーを日々の生活に役立てているが、風が強く
吹いたときに風車が一斉にカラカラと音をたてて回る
ため、この風車が蒼谷の郷特有のサウンドスケープ(音
の風景)を形成している。
 蒼谷の郷は大牙の先端に位置するという立地上、牙
の内側と塔を望む外壁にまたがって存在する。牙の内
側は霧園(きりその)、外壁の部分は天祥壁(てんしょ
うへき)と呼ばれており、村人からはそれぞれ別の区画
として扱われている。
 霧園は村の主要な施設や集落が集中している地域で
あり、蒼谷の郷といえば本来はこちらの区画のことを
指す。全体的には両側を牙状の岩に囲まれた狭いV字
型の地形をしており、人々は谷の底の部分に家を建て
たり、畑を開墾して暮らしている。牙状の岩のうち、塔
側の牙は外壁側の牙と比べがなり低く、のこぎりのよ
うに複数の牙が連なっている形状で、日が昇る際には
ここから部分的に朝日が差し込んで露にかすんだ中が
ら何本もの光の筋が伸びるという幻想的な光景を見る
ことができる。ただし、朝日が差し込む場所は決まって
おり、そこは成長に朝日を必要とする高級作物「モンタ
カバブー」を育成するための専用の畑になっている。
 霧園では、肥沃な土と雪解け水による豊富な水資源
を活がした農業が盛んで、ここで採れた農作物はいっ
たんトコシヱ隧道に運ばれてから各方面に流通してい
る。もっとも、名産品ともいうべき作物があるわけでは
なく、そこが蒼谷の郷の産業の問題点ともなっている。
 一方、天祥壁は、霧園ののこぎり状の牙の合間を抜
けていくと辿り着く、塔側に面した絶壁である。人が住
むには過酷な環境であるため、数軒の家がある程度で
ここに住む人はほとんどいない。

An small village located in the remote regions of the Great Fang. After both of Aoto's parents died during his early childhood, he was left with his construction mentor in this village, and grew under his watch. Since the Blue Canyon Hamlet is located on the very border of the area of effect of the Musical Corridor (the Tower's weather control system), the environment is half-controlled by human hands, and half-left to the nature's mercy. Because of that, strong and cold winds blow throughout the region during all the year.

While several fang-shaped rocks can be seen protruding inside the village, the villagers stretched several ropes between each of these rocks and installed windmills above them. When the windmills spin, they generate the energy the people use in their daily lives, so whenever the wind blows strongly, all of the windmills start spinning at the same time making a characteristic sound, creating the unique soundscape this hamlet has.

The Blue Canyon Hamlet is located at very tip of the Great Fang, allowing its inhabitants to see both the inside and the outside of the Fang, with the external part overlooking the Tower. The internal part of the fang is known as the Mist Garden, while the external one is called the Heavenly Wall, and both are treated as separate districts by the villagers.

The Mist Garden contains the most important facilities and settlements of the village, and it's basically the place to which everyone refers to when talking about the Blue Canyon Hamlet. All of the terrain in the hamlet has a narrow V-shape due to being located between the fang-shaped rocks, so the people build their houses in the bottommost part of the valley, and live cultivating new fields for producing crops. The fang-shaped rocks are smaller in comparison to the ones that can be seen in the outer walls overlooking the Tower, and they form rows similar to a saw, so when the sun rises, it's possible to see a fantastic scenery formed by the light that comes from the morning sunrays being reflected by the dew. However, since the places in which the morning sun shines are pretty much fixed, the villagers made them into fields exclusive for cultivating the high-class crops [Mondakababu], which requires a great quantity of morning sunlight.

The Mist Garden is blessed with fertile soils and abundant water sources produced by the thawing of snow, which allows the agriculture to prosper and the villagers to make their living from it, since the crops from this village are then shipped and sold to other communities, such as the Eternus Shaft itself. However, it has become a problem for the Blue Canyon Hamlet that they don't have an actual noteworthy product.

On the other hand, the Heavenly Wall is a cliff overlooking the Tower, which can be reached by going beyond the fang saws from the Mist Garden. Since this environment in this place is too harsh for people to live in, there are almost no houses or people in it.

まれた農村だか、人々の蟇らしは決して豊
かではないことが問題視されている。
Blue Canyon Hamlet

This is the Blue Canyon Hamlet, the village in which fang-shaped rocks protrude in several places. Since it's located in the highest areas of the Great Fang, is common for a strong and cold wind to blow throughout this place. Also, due to being located a such a high altitude, one of the features of the village is being able to see the clouds inside the village. While it's an agricultural settlement enshrouded by a magnificent environment, the fact that the people don't live in a great abundance has begun to be seen as a problem.

蒼谷の郷の目抜き通り。数少ない店がこの小径に並
んでおり、それなりに賑わいを見せている。蒼谷の
郷で育ったアオトには、店員に顔見知りが多い。なか
には、なんとか新しい商売を見つけ出して金儲けを
しようとする男の姿もあるが、特産品かない蒼谷の
郷では売り物になるものが見つからないようだ。
Village Lane

The main street of the Blue Canyon Hamlet. Despite being lane with very few shops, it still manages to look very prosperous. Since Aoto was raised in this village, he is acquaintanced with many of the shopkeepers. Among them, there is always a man that tries to find a new business for making money, but he hasn't managed to any special products from the hamlet that can be sold easily.

A region located in the outskirts of the Mist Garden, being also the place in which Aoto's house is located. This also was the place in which Aoto met Saki and Kiraha while they were being chased by Clustania.

The public minibus (airship) station. This place also allows the landing of private airships owned by the villagers. While the terminal itself is very simplistic, composed only of a sign and a station located in a grassfield in the outskirts of the village, it has become indispensable for the lives of the villagers.

 大牙最大のコミュニティ。蒼天峰の牙と牙の又の部
分、および地下へと続くトンネルによって形成される都
市で、どこまでいってもトンネルが続いているような風
景がら、「永久トンネル」を意味するトコシヱ隧道という
名前で呼ばれるようになった。
 もともとは自然にできた巨大な洞窟が存在し、そこ
から資源を採掘するために掘り進んだトンネルが広が
って街に発展、やがて地下都市となったという経緯を
持つ。それだけに内部は迷路のように入り組んでおり、
敵の侵攻を受け詩魔法を放たれても、簡単には全滅さ
せられない作りになっている。
 街のメインストリートは、自然の洞窟をそのまま大通
りにしたもので、そこから碁盤の目のように縦横に人
工のトンネルが掘られている。それぞれの区画には商
業区域や住居区域などの用途が決められているが、な
かには広場と呼ばれる大きな空洞が何か所が存在して
おり、それがこの町の夕一ミナルになっている。
 トコシヱ隧道の町並みはどこも薄暗く、人々が暮ら
すうえで灯りは欠かせない。それゆえに、人が集まる
市場などでは光による演出が各店の勝負所になってい
る。それぞれの店が競うようにして照明を工夫し、自分
の店をライトアップして懸命にアピールしている。この
照明は導力によるもので、立体映像を駆使する店も存
在。その幻想的な照明の効果により、繁華街では未来
都市を思わせる風景が広がる。その一方で、軒先に肉
や野菜をつるす原始的な露店も混在しており、両者の
ギャップが味わい深い景観を生んでいる。
 都市は現在も拡大中だが、新しいトンネルを掘ってい
る際に、グラスノインフェリア前の遺産と思われる穴を
掘り当てることがある。グラスノインフェリア前の遺産
がそのまま顔を出している場所は異例中の異例。これ
は、大牙が七つの血痕事件で押し上げられたかつての
地表部だがらこそ、起こりえる出来事だといえよう。
 トコシヱ隧道にある遺跡は、大牙の住人による反クラ
スタニア組織によって隠されている。

The largest community in the Great Fang. Due to being a city constructed inside a underground tunnel that connects both the Blue Heaven Peak and the Fallen Heaven Peak, and that that apparently continues eternally, that it's the reason for being called the Eternus Shaft, whose name literally means [Eternal Tunnel].

It was originally a natural cave that was further excavated to extract the minerals from the rock, and gradually it became a tunnel large enough to contain a entire city, which was the history for the creation of this place. Since the tunnels have ended becoming a network complex enough to be classified as a labyrinth, it was constructed for it to not be destroyed easily, even if their enemies attacked them using Song Magic.

The main street is a large avenue that once was a natural cavern, and from there, many artificial tunnels were dug out in all directions. Each district has a definite role, such a commercial district or a residential district, but there are also among them large caves that are called squares, which serve as terminals for this city.

Due to the Eternus Shaft having a very dark townscape, the lamps have become essential items to the people. Due to this, the shops have been forced to produce their own lights for the markets in which the people gather in order to stay in business. Each shop competes by making their own employees light up these places, as well as their own shop in an attempt to attract as many clients as possible. These lights are ignited through Symphonic Power, and since they basically reflect on other surfaces, the shops have to offer it for free. Due to this fantastical way of illuminating, the commercial district looks like a very futuristic city. On the other hand, traditional shops are also mingled with primitive street stalls installed in front of the houses, which sell goods like meat or vegetables, and the gap between both also gives a distinct flavor to the city.

While the city is still expanding in the current times, whenever they dig a new tunnel, they end finding up holes containing what are believed to be legacies from the age previous to the Grathnode Inferia. However, the appearances of such legacies are pretty much exceptional. This is due to the large upheaval the land suffered when the Great Fang was formed by the Seven Bloodstains Incident, which pulled in the remains from several cities that were destroyed in the disaster.

These historic ruins and legacies are actually one of the main causes of conflict between the inhabitants of the Great Fang and the Clustania organization, and the humans always try to keep them hidden.

The Eternus Shaft, the gigantic metropolis that extends many kilometers underground. Since Clustania's hand can't reach the underground, Eternus has developed free of their interventions, and eventually grew into the largest community in the Great Fang. The city is constructed by several neverending tunnels of variable size, which are always illuminated by lights and lamps.

躍。彼女目当てに店を訪れるファンもいたようだ。
Yokkora

A restaurant based on sets, which has become pretty famous due to its volume-fulfilling menu, and the personality of its owner, Mrs. Lue. This was the place in which Finnel worked before she started traveling with Aoto and the others. When she first came to the Great Fang, Finnel requested Mrs. Lue to allow her to live and work in the restaurant, turning her into the self-styled mascot for the restaurant. She has become so popular that many fans come to restaurant expecting to see her.

ミズモリ広場の外れにある、薄暗く狭い地区。トコシヱ隧道の市民か
らは闇市と呼ばれており、商人たちの間ではおおっぴらにできないも
のも取り引きされているようだ。この区画の壁面や天井には旧世代の
遺跡が当時のままの形で残されており、異様な景観が広がっている。
Backlight Bazaar

This is an small and dark district, located in the outskirts of the Waterforest Square. This place is called by the people of the Eternus Shaft as the "Black Market", because the merchants hold transactions here that they wouldn't do in public. The ceilings and walls that can be seen in this place are actually the remains of ruins from ancient times, which make up a very strange scenery due to the shape in which they were left.

Ciela Gate

 大牙の中では最も塔に近い街。アオトの生まれ故郷
でもある。現在は停戦協定が結ばれているため比較的
平和ではあるが、クラスタニアと大牙の戦争中は常に最
前線となり、毎日のように激しい戦火が巻き起こってい
た。現在では、クラスタニアの監視区域となっており、
クラスタニア側のレーヴァテイルが多数駐在している。
 上帝門は塔と大牙を繋ぐ交通の要所であり、第三塔
の街アルキアへの定期便が出ているのは、大牙の中で
は上帝門のみであるため、塔に渡る者は必ずこの上帝
門を経由しなくてはならない。アルキアへの定期便は、
街の中にあるモロカッ力港がら出ている。塔への入口と
なる港のため警戒は非常に厳しく、上帝門に渡航してき
た大牙の飛空艇は別の港に停泊するのが常である。
 現在、上帝門にはクラスタニアの大牙を統括する機関
「モロカッカ行政区」が存在しており、大牙中で最もク
ラスタニアの支配力が強い。しがし、長い年月が過ぎる
うちに、行政区設立当初のような緊張は消え、今では比
較的緩い体制の下でクラスタニアの上官と大牙の一般
市民という構造が維持されている。表面上で和解してい
ても市民レベルでの軽いイザコザは絶えないが、大規
模な衝突が発生すればクラスタニア側がら更に厳しい
締め付けが加わることが分がっているため、市民側が
譲歩して穏便に済ませているのが現状だ。
 街は蒼天峰の塔側の絶壁中腹にあるV字谷に位置し
ており、僅かな段差の上に巨大な鉄の壁がずらりと並
んだ景色は壮観である。この鉄壁は、崖の表面に巨大な
鉄板を貼り付けて作ったもので、V字谷の扇状地の開い
た先端にあるため、横幅が千ストン(三千メートル)にも
及ぶ。鉄壁のうち数カ所は飛空艇の出入りのため鉄板
が開閉可能だが、そのうち最も巨大な扉が「上帝門」と
呼ばれ、これが街の名前になっている。この門には巨大
な飛竜のレリーフが刻まれており、無骨な鉄壁の存在
もあいまって圧倒的な威圧感を見る者に与えている。

The closest city in the Great Fang to the Tower, and Aoto's hometown as well. Currently, the city is pretty peaceful due to being under a cease-fire pact, but during a long time it was in the front lines of the war between Clustania and the Great Fang, always being the place in which a great destruction occurred in a daily basis. In the current days it has become a zone under Clustania's supervision, so many Clustanian Reyvateils reside here.

Due to having the important position of serving as a transport between the Great Fang and the Tower, there is a regular service of airships that go and come between Ciela Gate and Archia. Furthermore, since Ciela Gate is the only city in the Great Fang that has this service, everyone who wants to go to the Tower doesn't have other choice than going through this city. The regular departures for Archia always take off from the Morocacca Port, located inside the city. The security measures in this airport are particularly strict due to it being an entryway of sorts to the Tower, so normally all of the airships that arrive to Ciela Gate anchor in a different airport. Currently, there is in Ciela Gate a mechanism of sorts for controlling the Great Fang, called the name of [Morocacca Governorate], and it's the place in all the Great Fang in which Clustania's control is strongest. However, apparently all of the tension that existed back when the Governorate was founded seems to have disappeared with the passing of the times, and the people are ruled by a comparatively lax regime created and maintained by both the upper officers of Clustania and the citizens of the Great Fang. However, while this superficially seems like both of them reached an agreement, actually there is still quite a lot of animosity to the Clustanians from the citizens, but since they know that starting any large riots would increase the oppression the Clustanians would exert over them, the citizens simply let them do whatever they want, and try to keep on living peacefully.

The city was built on V-shaped valley located around the middle of the Blue Heaven Peak, on a cliff overlooking the Tower, making the many layers of iron walls alternating with the natural rock cliffs quite a sight. These iron walls were made by affixing large iron sheets to the mountain walls, and since the V-valley basically opens into a delta at the border, the walls have around a thousand Stons in width (roughly 3000 mts.). It's possible to open and shut the iron walls in several places to allow passage for the airships, but among them, the largest one is the [Ciela Gate], which gives its name to the city. This gate has a gigantic dragon relief engraved on it, and combined with being put over the rustic iron walls, it gives quite a feeling of overwhelming intimidation to those who look at it.

Ciela Gate

The fortified city of Ciela Gate, surrounded by thick iron walls. Since it serves as an entryway to the Tower, it's always on a state of high-alert to prevent intruders from sneaking inside its walls. However, this doesn't mean that there aren't any ways to infiltrate inside this security network. While very few people know about it, there is large network of sewers spreading under the city, which allows entering to the city through other way aside of using the main gate.

Clockwork Street

上帝門のメインストリート。"Clockwork St."(時計仕掛け通り)とも呼ばれ
ており、その名の通り随所に巨大な歯車か設置されている。歯車は街中への
導力の伝達に使われ、街の名物としても知られている。大通りの中心には歯
車を備えたアプト式の市電が運行しており、市民の足として活躍している。

The main street of Ciela Gate. Normally called the "Clockwork St.", as its name says, there are gigantic gears placed all over it. These gears are used to deliver Symphonic Power to the city, and have become quite a tourist attraction. In the center of this main street there is also a tram service which works with gears as its locomotion mechanism, which has prospered as a public transport.

Moebius Factory

 上帝門にある大企業。巨大な発導施設を有し、周辺の
地域に導力を供給しているほか、工業製品や薬品などの
開発を幅広く手がけている。
 刻の輪製作所は上帝門でパラメノを用いて導力変換
を試みた初めての工場で、その歴史は古い。現在では、
刻の輪製作所の社主は上帝門でも最高の権力を持つ者
として知られており、クラスタニアの高官ともわたり合
える存在である。モロカッカ港の運営に必要な導力も刻
の輪製作所が供給しているため、クラスタニア側も強い
態度に出ることができないのだ。
 創業当時は、街の床下に大量のパラメノを運び込み、
人々の活動する音や想いの力(導体H波)を導力に変え
ていた。現在では巨大な導力吸収施設と発導施設を使用
して導力の供給を行なっているが、なかでも広域拡散導
力吸収盤の性能は圧倒的である。この施設は導力を吸収
するだけでなく、蓄積した導力の解放で強大なD波フレ
アパルスが発生可能だ。これは導体D波(物質波)で作ら
れた人工物を破壊する波動で、カテナは広域拡散導力吸
収盤を用いてクラスタニア軍の艦隊を壊滅させている。

A large corporation located in Ciela Gate. It's a gigantic Symphonic Power provider, which supplies the neighboring regions with energy, and also, it has branched into many other kinds of business, such as developing industrial goods and medicines.

The Moebius Factory first started as a Symphonic Power facility that tried converting energy through the usage of Parameno, so it has quite a long history. Currently, the owner of the Moebius Factory is known as the person with the largest political power in Ciela Gate, even comparable to the officials of Clustania. Because the Factory also supplies the Symphonic Power that the Morocacca Port needs to operate, Clustania is unable to use any aggressive actions against them.

When it was first established, it was discovered that there were large Parameno deposits under the city, which transformed the sounds the people made during their activities and the power of their feelings (Dynamic H-Waves) into Symphonic Power. While currently they conduct Symphonic Power supplying activities through the usage of their gigantic Symphonic Power Absorption Facility and Symphonic Generator Facility, they also have an overwhelming disc that is capable of absorbing the Symphonic Power present in all the region, called the Regional Symphonic Power Absorption Disc.This facility is not only capable of absorbing Symphonic Power, since it also can release all of the power it has accumulated into a powerful D-Wave Flare Pulse. This can destroy any artificial objects that were made through Dynamic D-Waves (material waves), as it was shown when Katene destroyed Clustania's airship fleet by using the Regional Symphonic Power Absorption Disc.

Geography Explanation: Archia

アルキアは、塔にある都市国家で、街は大企業アルキア研究所
を中心として発展してきた。住人のほとんどは人間だが、大牙
やクラスタニアとは違う第三の独立勢力として存在している。

Archia is a city-state located in the Tower, which was developed with the gigantic Archia Think Tank at its very center. Almost all of its inhabitants are humans, and exists as an independent, different faction from both the Great Fang and Clustania.

The City-State with an History Older than the Tower

 アルキアは正式名称をアルキア株式主権市国とい
う。その創生は第三塔よりも古く、もとは第三塔の建設
時にスタッフが使用していた基地が街となったもので、
塔の下部がら突き出した形で街が存在する。塔側の都
市では唯一、大牙との交流がある街であり、塔内にお
いて人間が普通に住むことができる、ただ一つの街で
もある。
 アルキアは、塔の入口としての性格が強い。形式上は
クラスタニアの支配下にあり、クラスタニア側からはパ
リ工行政区と呼ばれているが、大牙とは違って人間たち
による自治が黙認されている。街を統治しているのは、
街の中核をなす巨大企業アルキア研究所だ。アルキア
研究所は、がつてティリアの調整と第三塔の創生を担当
したクロガネ研究所の残党によって設立され、単なる民
間企業の域を超えてアルキアの統治組織も兼ねた絶対
的な存在で、都市国家を形成する母体となった。
 がつて、アルキアはクラスタニアと戦争状態になった
こともあるが、現在では中立の姿勢を保っている。クラ
スタニアから見ればアルキアは大牙以上に邪魔な存在
であるはずだが、とある事情により強い態度を取るこ
とができないため、自治を認めざるをえない状況とな
っている。

Archia is formally called the Archia Corporarchy Main City. Its creation dates back to before the existence of the Third Tower, and originally was the city that the staff that built the Third Tower used as a base camp, which ended later on becoming the city that is currently located in the lower parts of the Tower. This is the only city in the Tower that has a constant contact with the Great Fang, and also, the only city in which humans can live normally.

Archia has the rather strong disposition to being the entranceway to the Tower, and while they formally are under Clustania's jurisdiction, even going as far as getting called the "Parie Governorate" by them, actually they have allowed the humans to govern themselves, unlike what happened with the Great Fang. The ruler of the city is actually the gigantic corporation of the Archia Think Tank, located in the very center of it. The Archia Think Tank was established by the remnants of the now-defunct Kurogane Laboratories, which had the role of regulating Tyria and creating the Third Tower a long time ago. So Archia has surpassed the roles of a mere private corporation and has also become a ruling organization, making it the heartland around which the Corporarchy was structured.

While there have been instances of Archia and Clustania fighting against each other, Archia currently has a neutral stance against the conflicts between Clustania and the Great Fang. While from Clustania's viewpoint, Archia should be the only hindrance that they have aside of the Great Fang, because they are unable to take strong actions against them due to certain incidents, they don't have other choice than to recognize their autonomy.

Archia

The upper half of the city is composed by the gigantic corporation of the Archia Think Tank. Since the residential districts were built farther below it, the main trait of the city is how the buildings were made, looking as if they were hanging from the upper parts. The Tower of Origin, which served as the base for the construction of the Third Tower, extends vertically from the center of the Think Tank, while an unique facility, the XP Shell, is stationed just above its topmost floor.

A shot of Archia as seen from the Tower. As you can see, the areas of the city itself pretty much project themselves into the sky. However, the most eye-catching part of this view is the gigantic dome-shaped facilities of the Archia Think Tank, which are located at the very tip of the town areas.

Archia Side View

Archia basically is a city that grew from the union of the scaffolds that were used at the time for the construction of the Tower of Origin. Currently, the town areas ended expanding away from the Tower of Origin, and ended being situated in the lower areas of the Third Tower. Normally it might look like a very messy sight, impossible to understand; but if you look at it from the side, it should become easier for you to see how are the relative positions of the Tower of Origin and the Archia city areas.

 アルキアの都市部は、上面と下面に分かれた二層構造
となっている。上面には主にアルキア研究所の工場や研
究棟、下面には市民が住む市街地が広がる。一般にアル
キアと呼ぶ場合は、下面の市街地を指すことが多い。
 アルキアの上面部の高台、原初の塔の最頂点には、惑
星再生計画において重要な役割を果たすXPシェルが設
置され、そこから塔の外側に向けてアルキアを維持、管
理する行政機関やアルキア研究所の工場などが広がっ
ている。XPシェルはロケット状の施設で、惑星の意志と
対話する機能を持つ一種のダイブマシンだ。惑星との対
話には、XPシェルそのものを弾丸として惑星のコアに
打ち込んで使用するが、塔の機能が不完全な状態だった
ため、稼動することがないまま長らく放置されていた。
 下面部の市街地は、クラスタ系の雰囲気が色濃く出た
エスニック調な建物をはじめとして、さまざまな文化が
集まる無国籍都市の様相を示している。さらには雑多な
市場、高級宝飾店、エンターテインメント施設などがごっ
た返す。街は下に向かって拡大していったため、通常と
は天地が逆になって発展した。まるで天井からぶらさが
るような街の景観は独特の風情となっている。
 アルキアは基本的に人間中心の社会が形成されてい
るが、クラスタニアからの来訪者も多く、街のあちこち
でβ純血種のレーヴァテイルの姿を見ることができる。
彼女たちは親人間派ともいえる考え方を持っており、
クラスタニア本国のレーヴァテイルのように人間を毛
嫌いしているわけではない。また、リッカリョーシャのよ
うにアルキア研究所内において重要な役職につくレー
ヴァテイルも現れており、人間側もレーヴァテイルに対
する偏見や敵対心が薄い街であるといえるだろう。

The city areas of Archia were built pretty much as two separate parts: the upper side and lower side. The upper side is mainly formed by the factories and research facilities of the Archia Think Tank, while the lower side is where the residential areas for the people extend. Normally, the people refer to the latter when they talk about Archia.

The highest point in Archia's upper side is located at the very top of the Tower of Origin, where the XP Shell, which was supposed to accomplish an essential role in the Planet Regeneration Project, is located. Below them and looking at the Tower from Archia's location, we can see the factories and the administrative buildings of the Archia Think Tank. The XP Shell is a rocket-shaped facility housing an unique kind of Dive Machine used to hold conversations with the Wills of the Planet. In order to enable these conversations, it's necessary to shoot the XP Shell as if it was a bullet into the Planetary Core, but since the facilities of the Tower were never completed, for a long time it was left alone due to the impossibility of using it.

The lower side of Archia is made up by the city areas, which begin as ethnic buildings with the unique style of the Clusterians, and gradually becomes a mix-up of buildings from all the cultures and nations, demonstrating the international aspect of the city. Furthermore, there are establishments like mixed markets, high-class jewelers, entertainment facilities and such mixed up among them. Because the city has grew in a downward direction, it has expanded in a way completely opposite to normal cities. This is what gives the city its unique appearance, in which the buildings seem to be hanging from the upper layers.

While Archia was formed around a human company, a lot of visitors come from Clustania, making it possible to frequently see Pureblooded β-types Reyvateils here. These are Reyvateils that favor the coexistence with the humans, although this doesn't mean that the Clustanian themselves hold some kind of prejudice against the humans. Still, there also have appeared Reyvateils who attained particularly important positions in the Archia Think Tank, as it was the case with Richaryosha, establishing a reputation of this being a city in which humans don't hold any hostility or prejudice against the Reyvateils.

アルキア外縁部の人間主体の街区と、塔側

区)を繋ぐ巨大な橋の上に作られた街。ア
ルキア研究所の事実上の入口で、無闇に侵
入する者がいないよう、アルキア兵によっ
て厳重に監視されている。
Filon Bridge

A city built above a large bridge that connects together the main human residential area located in the outskirts of Archia, and the main Reyvateil residential area (the Parie Governorate). Since this place also serves as an entrance to the Archia Think Tank, this place is also under strict surveillance by the Archia Army, so no reckless idiots will try to infiltrate in it.

油楽屋

Yuraku (Eulark) Inn

管八廃油温泉にある屈指の老舗店で、数多くの湯船
と客間を持つ宿屋。温泉郷の中でも一等地といえる
管の終端に位置しているため、外の眺めが十分に堪
能できる。番頭を務める若旦那は、アルキア研究所
から流れてくる工業廃油から温泉の湯を守るため、
自らオイルフェンスを張って防いでいる働き者だ。
Eulark Inn

The oldest establishment in the Capo Waste Oil Springs, which is an inn equipped with countless rooms and bathtubs. Because it's located at the very border of the pipes, which also receives the title of best spa area, it has quite a bright prospect for its future. The clerk is a young gentleman that tries to protect the hot springs from being contaminated by the industrial waste oil that flows away from the Archia Think Tank, and he does so by making up an oil fence, so the oil never reaches the springs.

Eightpipe (Capo) Waste Oil Springs

油楽屋などの宿屋をはじめ、多数の店がひしめきあ
う、アルキア随一の温泉街。アルキア研究所の工場
から流れ出る廃油の余熱を利用し、温泉を併設して
いる宿屋が多いことが特徽となっている。アルキア
の市街地の最下層に位置しており、すぐ下に巨大導
力吸収施設ムーシェリエルを跳めることができる。
Capo Waste

Beginning with the Yuraku Inn, and extending into a mixed-up mess of countless shops, this is the best spa area in Archia. It's main characteristic has become the countless spas that make use of the heat present in the waste oil that flows away from the factories of the Archia Think Tank to heat up the water, turning it into hot springs. Since this place is located in the lowermost areas of the Archia City, it's possible to see the gigantic Symphonic Power absorption facility, Moocheriel, just below.

にゃにゃ屋

Nya Nya Store

メタ・ファルスからきた天才少女、さ一しゃ
が開いた店。「何でも発明工房」を名乗り、
薬から人工衛星までどんなものでも作り上
げる。もとは廃業した鉄工所だったため、店
内には鉄骨や廃棄品があちこちに転がって
いる。また、ソル・シエールやメタ・ファルス
から取り寄せた珍しい品も取り扱う。
Nya Nya Store

A shop that was opened by a genius girl that came from Metafalss, Sasha. Her motto is [A workshop in which we invent anything], and she actually makes all kinds of things here, beginning with medicine and ending in artificial satellites. Since it was originally a closed iron forge, there are still several steel frames and scraps left all over the place. Also, the shops deals in several strange goods that were brought over from both Metafalss and Sol Ciel.

 アルキア研究所はアルキア上面部の中心に位置する巨
大企業体で、実質的なアルキアの統治機構である。母体
となったクロガネ研究所がβ純血種レーヴァテイルの反乱
や、クラスタニアや抗体との戦いで力を失って解体した
後、3166年に残党によって設立された。
 クロガネ研究所のメンバーは、解体時に全員が塔から
退出させられたため、一時大牙に移住しており、そこで
勢力を蓄えたのち、クラスタニアにアルキア研究所の設
立を申し立てることとなる。本来、許されることではない
が、アルキア研究所はクラスタニアのレーヴァテイルの
致命的な弱みを握っており、なかば強引に認可を受ける。
レーヴァテイルたちの精神世界が格納されたSHサーバ
ーがある原初の塔をアルキア研究所が確保していたため
だ。その後、研究所は発展を続け、やがて原初の塔の周
辺に大都市を築いた。これがアルキア株式主権市国であ
る。現在では、上帝門の刻の輪製作所をはじめ多くの企
業を傘下に収める一大コンツェルンを形成している。
 研究所内ではさまざまな研究、開発が行なわれ、これ
までに蓄えた財力と技術を利用した社会福祉や公共サー
ビスも行なっている。しがし、必ずしも公共福祉だけでは
なく、公にできない研究も数多く抱えているようだ。
 研究所にはネオアトラス派とエンシェント派の二つの派
閥が存在し、惑星を救うための研究がそれぞれ行なわれ
ていた。しがし、現在では惑星再生計画の再始動を唱え
たエンシェント派は所内がら駆逐され、現所長ラファエー
レらが所属するネオアトラス派が実権を掌握している。

The Archia Think Tank it's a large corporation located in the center of the upper areas of the Archia City, making it substantially its central government. It originally used to be called the Kurogane Laboratories, but after several incidents, such as the revolt of the Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils, and the constant wars against Clustania and the Antibodies, it lost its power and was dismantled. Archia was then formed in 3166 AD from the remains of the Laboratories.

Because the members of the Kurogane Laboratories were forced to withdraw from the Tower when it was dismantled, they had to move temporarily to the Great Fang, where they began gathering political power, and later on pleaded to Clustania to allow them to establish the Archia Think Tank. While they originally didn't allow this to happen, the Archia Think Tank had in their hands the most lethal weakness of the Reyvateils, and were partially forced to give them their permission. This was because the Archia Think maintained the SH Server that stores the Cosmospheres of the Reyvateils, which is located in the Tower of Origin. After this, the Think Tank continued its expansion, and shortly later, they built a large city in the areas around the Tower of Origin. This is the Archia Corporarchy Main City. Currently, they are in the process of forming a large conglomerate by absorbing under their jurisdiction many companies around the region, starting with the Moebius Factory located in Ciela Gate.

The Think Tank conducts all sorts of research and development, using all of the resources and technologies they have stockpiled with the passing of years for social welfare and providing public services. However, their research isn't done only for public welfare: they also are in the process of conducting many sorts of research that can't be disclosed to the public.

There are two factions in the Think Tank: the Neo Atlas Faction and the Ancient Faction, both of which conduct their own independent researches to find a way to save the Planet. However, now the Ancient Faction, which advocated for the restart of the Planet Regeneration Project, was expelled from the Think Tank; and the Neo Atlas Faction, led by the current Chairman, Raphael, has all of the actual power.

The main building of the Archia Think Tank as seen from the outside. Similarly to all of the other buildings in the Archia City, it extends downward from where it was initially built. The Archia Think Tank is located at the very center of Archia, and its Chairman is pretty much Archia's ruler. His influential power is extremely large, and no one is capable of taking any forceful actions against them, not even Clustania, which are technically their true rulers.

 都市国家であるアルキアはさほど広い国ではないが、
人々が密集して住んでいるため人口は少なくない。大
牙、クラスタニアのいずれにも属さない独特の文化が育
ったせいで特徴的な建物が立ち並び、人々が楽しむた
めのエンターテインメント施設も数多く存在している。
 ながでも、特に目を引く建築物はVボードレース場だ
ろう。Vボードは小型のフリッパー機関を搭載して浮遊す
るスケートボードで、若者を中心に絶大な支持を得てお
り、専門誌も刊行されている。Vボードレース場で行な
われるレースの注目度は非常に高く、大会の開催日には
スタジアムに数万人の観客が押し寄せて賑わう。本作の
物語中でも、タツミがアルキアで開催されたVボードレ
ースに出場し、ソーマと対決する場面が登場する。

While Archia it's a city-state with a very small territory, it's population is extremely dense due to having a great number of inhabitants. It has developed an unique culture that doesn't have anything in common with either the Great Fang or Clustania, particularly the way in which the buildings are made, and it has many entertainment facilities for the people to enjoy themselves.

Among them, the most notable place would be the V-Board Racetrack. V-Boards are skateboards equipped with a Flipper, which allows them to float, and riding them has become quite an popular sport among young people, up to the point of even getting its own specialized magazines.The V-Board Racetrack has a very strong following, and whenever there is a tournament being held, the stadium gets filled to the brim with spectators. During the game, Tatsumi entered a V-Board Race that was being held at Archia, which is the place in which Soma appears for her confrontation with him.

謳凱記念保育園

Ougai Memorial Preschool

アルキアの謳凱地区にある保育園。ビルと
ビルの狭間にある小さな保育園だが、その
歴史は古い。「謳凱」とは名乗として名が伝
わるアルキアの初代市長の名で、謳凱記念
保育園は彼が自費を投じで設立した。蒼谷
の郷に来る前にサキが保育士として働いて
いたが、サギが去った後は閉鎖されている。
Ougai

A preschool located in the Ougai District of Archia. While it's an small preschool located in the space between two buildings, it has quite a long history. The [Ougai] that serves as its namesake was the first mayor of the Archia City, and he himself paid the money needed for the foundation of the Preschool. This was the place in which Saki worked as a teacher before she came to the Blue Canyon Hamlet, but it was closed shortly after she left.

光五条診療所

Hikari Gojo's Clinic

かつで光五条が使っていた診療所。妹を亡くした五
条はトコシヱ隧道に移ったが、アルキアの診療所は
引き払わずに当時のままにしている。
Abandoned Clinic

A clinic in which Hikari Gojo worked a long time ago. While he later on moved to Eternus Shaft after his younger sister died, Archia never bothered to take the clinic away from him, leaving it how it today like was in these times.

パリエ中央駅

Parie Central Station

塔を縦方向に貫く鉄道、グランヴァートゲージの駅。
アルキアとクラスタニアを連絡している。行き先が
実質クラスタニアのみなため、基本的に人間が使用
することは減多にない。
Parie Station

One of the stations of the Granvert Gauge, the railroad that vertically runs throughout the Tower, and communicates Archia with Clustania. However, since its only actual destination is Clustania, the number of people that actually use it is very small.

Archia's Vehicles

 アルキアは塔と大牙を交通綱で繋ぐ都市である。港か
らは上帝門のモロカッ力港へ渡る定期便が出ており、市
民の重要な交通手段となっている。一般市民が塔から大
牙に渡る手段は、この定期便を利用する以外ない。
 アルキアの港は非常に大規模なもので、この港を利用
する飛空艇も近辺の空で数多く見かけられる。アルキア
を母港としている飛空艇はいずれもアルキア製で、大牙
で使用されているものよりも性能が高い。
 また、アルキアは私設軍隊を有しており、飛空艇や戦
艦、戦闘機などもアルキアが独自で開発したものが使用
されている。アルキア製の兵器は無骨で機械的な外見
で、曲線的なデザインのクラスタニア軍のものとは一見
して異なる形状だが、性能はひけを取らない。
 飛空艇以外の交通機関では、塔内を移動するために
作られたグランヴァートゲージが存在する。これは、塔の
下層やアルキアのパリ工行政区とクラスタニアの間を走
る鉄道だ。ただし、管理、運営しているのはクラスタニア
の側で、基本的にアルキア市民には解放されていない。

Archia serves as the city that connects both the Tower and the Great Fang. There are regular airships that depart for the Morocacca Port in Ciela Gate, making them an essential transportation method to the people. However, aside of going back and forth between the Great Fang and Archia, the normal people don't really use them much.

Due to Archia having extremely large airports, it's possible to see a large amount of airships making use of them or flying in the skies at any point of the day. Given that Archia is also the largest airship maker in Sol Cluster, the airships used by them have better capabilities than the ones used in the Great Fang.

There are also airships for exclusive use of the military, such as the warships and fighters, which are exclusively developed and used by Archia itself. The Archian weapons have quite an unrefined and mechanical appearance, which gives them a great contrast in comparison to the curve-filled designs of the Clustanian airships, but this doesn't give them any disadvantages in combat.

Aside of the airships, there is also the Granvert Gauge, which was made for moving around the Tower. This is a railroad that connects the lower areas of the Tower (the Parie Governorate, in which Archia is located) and Clustania. However, since its administration and operation is managed by Clustania, the citizens from Archia can't really make use of it.

優れる。動力源としてフリッパー機関を搭載
しているが、塔の導力を使うクラスタニア

These are the warships used by the Archian Army. They are smaller than Clustania's warships, but also have a superior mobility to them. They are equipped with a Flipper, which serves as their source of power. This is a large difference between the battleships of both sides, since their airships use Symphonic Power absorbed from the atmosphere, while the Clustanians use Symphonic Power drawn directly from the Tower. Aside of the Flipper, the warships are also equipped with a round disc called the Limitedly Diffused Symphonic Power Absorption Disc.

として最も広く使われているエターナルフ
リッパー方式を採用している。これはむき出

Archian Fighter

The fighters used by the Archian Army make use of the Eternal Model Flipper, which is the model that has gotten the most widespread use in the airships of this world. This is basically a round Flipper disc exposed directly to the elements, which allows it to greatly increase its Symphonic Power absorption ratio, making it possible for it to gain a large horsepower. However, since its power source is exposed to the elements, it also has the flaw of greatly reducing the durability of the energy it generates.

Airship

These are the regular airships used by civilians to go between Archia and Ciela Gate. They are basically an afterthought designed after the techniques used for creating the airships used by the Archian Army. Given the top area has a deck in which people can walk around, and the lower area was made to store containers, it can be used both for transporting passengers and shipping goods. This is the same kind of airship that Aoto and company used when Richa took them with her to Archia.

Cargo Ships

特殊な形状の輸送専用機。ヘッドと呼ばれる牽引用
の本体部分に運搬用のコンテナを数珠つなぎい連結
して用いるトレーラータイプの飛空艇である。荷物
が多い場合はコンテナを増やして対応するが、逆に
少ない場合はそのぶんコンパクトになるため運用効
率が良く、さらに燃費の節約も可能となっている。
Cargo Ships

An special model of airship destined exclusively for transporting goods. Basically it's a trailer-type airship in which the head (the towing part) is coupled to a body part, which is the one that carries the containers. In cases in which the cargo is large, more containers can be added to the body, but on the other hand, if the cargo is small, the container used will be a more compact one, increasing the efficiency of the transports, and greatly reducing the fuel consumption.

Starcircling (Cartology)

古くから伝わるとされる星占いのひとつ「星巡り」。人々は枯 れた大地から見上げ、自らの状況や他者との関係などさまざ まな運命を宇宙の星たちに映し観てきた。

[Starcircling] is a method for performing astrology that has been handed down since ancient times. It's said that whenever the people look above of this dead land, they can see many things about their fate, like their future and their relationships with others reflected in the stars of the universe.

「星巡り」のルーツ

The Roots of [Starcircling]

 フィンネルが行っている占い「星巡り」は、現代では
特に科学的根拠がないということもあり、あまり一般的
には知られていない。これは、本作で星巡りを行ってい
るのがフィンネルしかおらず、こういうことには鈍感そう
とはいえ、アオトがまったく知らないことからも明らがだ。
ただし、その占いがたのルーツは意外にも由緒がある。
 一説によると、独自の魔法体系を持つ半竜人の亜人種・
テル族のアルカ(念願成就)に伝わる、「星渡成就願(ほ
しわたりじょうじゅがん)」をベースにしているといわれ
ている。この星渡成就願とは、後述する人それぞれに
設定された「星向き」を認識し、それを修正することで
運命を変える術だ。
 星巡りではこの思想をより汎用化するため、テル族以
外の人間でも「運命は変えられずとも現在の状況を把
握することができる」という程度に簡略化している。さ
らに、もともとはなかった相性も占えるようにするなど、
現代的な要素も加えられ、工夫のあとも窺える。また、
特殊な能力を持つテル族が用いた技法を元にした占いな
ので、科学的な根拠がないからといって、まったく信憑
性がないというわけでもないだろう。

The type of fortune-telling that Finnel does, [Starcircling], completely lacks an scientific basis on the current times, and it's a fact that not many people know about it. This is accentuated by the fact that Finnel is the only one shown doing it in the game, and being so insensitive to this kind of things, Aoto is completely clueless about it, as well. However, the roots behind this kind of fortune-telling actually have quite a long history.

According to theories, this was based on a fortune-telling method used by the members of the Alca Family (with the ability of granting wishes) of the half-dragon Teru Tribe, called [Wish Granting Through the Dance of the Stars]. This method is used to know the [Star Direction] of each person (explained below), and according to the Teru, by modifying it, it's possible to change the destiny of each person.

Because Starcircling was simplified beyond these ideals, even the humans know about it as a method that [allows to grasp your current destiny, despite not allowing to change it]. Furthermore, it didn't originally allow to predict the future of another person: that was actually added in recent times as a way of peeking on other people's information. However, being a type of fortune-telling that was based from a method that used the special powers that only the Teru Have, it does still have quite a lot of reliability and following, despite lacking any scientific basis.

Instructions for how to Perform Starcircling

 ここでは星巡りの手順と、各項目の詳細を本作でも登
場したアオトとフィンネルを例に相性占いを中心として
紹介していく。基本的に自分一人を占う場合は、誕生月
から星向きを特定し、そこに年齢と自分の名前の画数で
現在の状態を占うことになる。
 相性占いの場合は、対象となる相手の誕生月と真の名
前を聞く必要がある(厳密には、知らなくても以下で説
明する運命数さえわかれば問題ない)。通常、真の名前

Now we will explain on detail how Starcircling is performed, centering all the explanations around the compatibility prediction that Aoto and Finnel had during the course of the game. Fundamentally, if you wish to predict your own future, you can determine your Star Direction from your birth month, and then use information taken from your age and name to do so.

In case you want to perform a compatibility prediction, you will need to know the True Name and birth month of the other person (but strictly speaking, even if you don't know them, you shouldn't have any problem at following the instructions on how to determine the Numbers of Fate). Normally, the True Name is a top-secret personal information that should never be revealed to anyone else than your special someone or your family. That such important information is used in the predictions further reinforces the credibility on it. An important note is that when you begin tracing the route from the Central Star to the Position of Fate, you mustn't end pointing to the same stars you used for the Divination Position.

1) 運命数の決定

 まずは、占う対象(自分と相手)の真の名前で運命数
を算出する。右に運命数の算出例を掲載するので、これ
を参考に説明しよう。まず、真の名の読みをアルファベッ
ト化する。さらに音節ごとに分解し、各アルファベットに
対応した数字の、音節ごとの合計を出す。アオトなら最初
の音節は「a」「o」「t」「o」の合計で51となる。同じよう
に名前の他の要素でも数字を出し、各合計を足す。アオ
トの場合その各合計が「296」で、最後にそれをばらし、
「2」と「9」と「6」を足した数「17」が運命数となる。

First, we have to calculate the Numbers of Fate by using the True Names of the ones undergoing the compatibility prediction (yourself and the other person). On the right, we have written an example of how to do this for your reference. First, you must turn your true name into an alphabetical form, decompose it into letters, and sum the numbers that correspond to each letter. In Aoto's case, the result for the four letters of his name: "a", "o", "t" and "o", is 51. Next, you must do the same for the other parts of your name, and sum all of them. For Aoto, the sum of the numbers for all the parts of his name is 296. Finally, you disassemble the resulting number, and sum all of its digits. In the case of 296, the result would be [17]. This is the Number of Fate.

  • Note: The examples use the romanized forms of both Aoto's and Finnel's Japanese True Names. Using any other names would have altered the result.

 運命数を算出したら、誕生月からそれに対応した星向
きを決定することになる。ベースとなる星向きは、まず天
中星(=北翔星、地球でいう北極星)と脈星を終始線と
いう線で結ぶ。そこを1月と12月の境界線として、そこ
から12分割した扇の1つずつが誕生月に割り当てられて
いる。この扇形の選定のことを、星向きという。また、星
向きの読み部分にカタカナ名があるものは、シエール系
の神話の神様の名称があるもので、「サラバトゥール」や
「ソーマ」など本作に登場する名前が多々混じっている。

Once you have calculated the Number of Fate, it will be time for you to determine your Star Direction, using your birth month as a reference. To determine your base Star Direction, you will first trace a line on the constellation disc beginning in the Central Star (Hishouten/Eoria, which we know as the Polar Star in the Earth) and ending in the Hope Star, which is known as the Line of Ending and Beginning. This is the boundary line between January and December, which also allows to divide the rest of the constellation disc in twelve areas: each one corresponding to each one of the birth months. Choosing your area in this disc is what we call choosing the Star Direction. Also, the katakana part of the Star Direction names actually has the names of several Gods from the myths of the Cielans mixed in, of which some like [Salapator] or [Soma] actually appear in the game.

 星向きが決定したら、占位置を探していく。占位置の
決定には、まず先ほどの星向きのベースとなる図の中心
をスタート地点とする。そして、そこから自分の星向きの
扇形内でもっとも近い星をたどっていき、最終地点にあ
る星の場所が占位置となる。ここでポイントとなるのは
たどっていく星の数だが、その数は占いたい年齢の数字
分だ。アオトなら17歳なのでスタート地点から17個目の
星の位置となり、フィンネルなら生まれてからの年数で
ある11個目の星となる(レーヴァテイルβ純血種は6歳
相当まで培養槽で成長してから生まれてくるため)。将来
や過去どうだったかを占いたいときは、ここでの数字を
想定する年齢分にして位置を決めればよい。 

Once you have determined your Star Direction, it's time to search for your Divination Position. To determine it, first you must start from the Central Star in the constellation disc. Then, you will trace a line to the nearest stars in the area belonging to your Star Direction. The last star to which you arrive will become your Divination Position. However, you have a limit in this: the number of stars you can cross over have as limit the age of the person for which you want to fortune-tell. Since Aoto is 17-years old, the line for his Divination Position goes 17 stars from beginning to end, and Finnel's goes 11 stars long (this is because despite being 17, the Pureblooded β-type Reyvateils emerge as six-year olds from their nurturing tanks). Whenever you want to fortune-tell about the past or future of a person, you can simply arrive at their Divination Position just from their age, using the method we just described.

 次は運命位置を探す。スタート地点は、先ほど決定し
た占位置で、そこから、もっとも近い星を運命数の数だ
けたどっていく。①で算出したようにアオトなら17個目
の星、フィンネルなら11個目の星が運命星(=運命位
置)となる。
 この運命位置の探し方で占位置のときともっとも異な
るのが、たどる星の範囲となる。占位置のときは、星向
きの扇形の中でもっとも近い星をたどったが、運命位置
の場合はスタート地点から特に制約がなく周囲360度で
もっとも近いところをたどっていく点だ。
 天中星から占位置を経て運命位置に到達するまで、一
度通った星は二度と指してはならない点に注意しよう。

Next, you have to search for the Position of Fate. For this, you have to begin with the Divination Position you determined previously, and from there, you advance to the nearest stars according to the Number of Fate. According to the calculations we made in the first step, for Aoto we would have to advance through 17 stars, and for Finnel, we would have to advance through 11 stars. The final star in which you land will be the Star of Fate (Position of Fate).

The methods for determining both Divination Position and the Position of Fate differ only in the range of stars you will have to advance through. For the Divination Position, we could advance only throughout the stars inside the area corresponding to the Star Direction, while for the Position of Fate you start in the Divination Position, and from there you can advance through the nearest stars without any particular restrictions: in fact, it's theoretically possible to trace a route to the Position of Fate that draws a full circle around the constellation disc.

By the way, there is an small warning about the method: you can never go through the same stars twice when you trace the route from the Central Star to the Divination Position, and then to the Position of Fate.

置の対極(180度の位置)にある「正妻対極」とされて
おり、運命位置と正妻対極の組み合わせには、固有の名
称もついている。この名称には「那由他羅=零獅姫」の
組み合わせの場合、その第一子とされる「豊穣獅姫」の
名が冠され。他の組み合わせも同様に、神話的な観点の
「正式なペア」と「その第一子の名前」となっている。

Once you have performed steps 1 to 4 for yourself and the other person, you will be able of discerning your general compatibility from the relative areas in which your Positions of Fate are located and inside which Star Directions they fall. You can reference the meanings of each of the compatibilities in the table at the right. The best compatibility is your Position of Fate is located directly in the opposite Star Direction (180 degrees) to that of the other person, which is called [Complete Opposites]. Each one of these combinations of Positions of Fate and Complete Opposites has its own name, the best among them being [Nayudara & Reishiki], which receives the name of their first child [Hojoushiki]. Likewise, the names of the other combinations is made from the [Canonical Pairs] and [First Children] existing in the myths of Ar Ciel.

特に問題ない。ただ、等星差が大きくても必ずしも悪ではなく、その個人の性質
によっては、それが良い方向に
転ぶこともある。

周星

自らの運命位置から同心円で5つめまでの星は、その順番で運命星に影響を与える
と言われる。また、その5つ
の星のどれかに知人がいる場合、恋愛に対して多大な影響牽与えるという。各星
に対して自らの星が明るいと、そ
の影響力に対して屈しない力を持つか、目立つ為にその5つの星が過度に干渉して
くる。逆に暗いときは、ほとん
ど影響を受けないか、逆に大きな影響を受けるという。

逃道

周星の位置(360度)の偏り方によって、影響の仕方が変わってくる。近いものか
ら5つの星を見て5つが180度
内に収まっている場舎、上記の影響力が出やすいケースでも、それを回避しやす

とき星の配置が「4:1」の場含、1側の星と運命星の大きさや明るさがほぼ同じな

Equivalent Star (Star of Fate) Whenever there is a difference in the shine that the equal stars for men and women give in comparison to each other, the more shining stars will be the ones to have any influence. They are classified from extremes that go from [Level 1-Equivalent Stars to Level-6 Equivalent Stars], and depending on their relationship, they might end up giving negative influences to the person. Normally, if there is a difference of about two levels in the Equivalent Star, they will keep an average balance, and no significant problems will happen. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that something bad will actually happen to someone if the Equivalent Star have a large difference in levels, and depending on the qualities of that particular person, they might actually end up turning into good things for him or her.
Neighboring Stars It's said that the five closest stars around the Position of Fate give some influence to the Star of Fate according to their order. Also, if there is any of you acquaintances in any of these five stars, supposedly they can also have heavy effects on your love with them. This will depend on the shine of each of these stars, so if they will have enough power to not bend to the effects of other stars or be interfered by them will depend on if they are very bright or not. On the other hand, if they have a weak shine, it's said that they won't give off any effects, or that they will be greatly influenced by others.
Escape Paths According to the inclination in the position (around 360 degrees) of the Neighboring Stars, their effects will change. While among the five closest stars in a 180 degree radius to the Stars of Fate there will be some that will manifest their effects more easily, as described above, there are others that will have it more easy to escape. Still, it's said if the positions of the stars in these 180 degrees have a [4:1] ratio, the stars of the "1" part will have almost the same radiance as the Star of Fate, which will help it to evade other influences and arrange the circumstances for a successful love. However, if the stars surrounding these five Neighboring Stars are dispersed equally, it means that it won't bring about good effects. Because their effects will be greatly strengthened, it will be harder for them to escape from the effects of other stars, for better or worse.
6) 高度な相性占い

 おおまかな相性は上記の過程までで占うことができ
る。だか、実際にはさらに詳細な情報を星から読み取る
ことも可能だ。その情報とは星の「輝き」である。ここま
で、占いに使用してきた情報は星の位置が重要なポイン
トだったが、運命星(運命位置)とその周囲の星の輝き・
配置のバランスで、さらに詳細に運勢をみることができ
るのだ。各星の名称は「運命星→等星」、「等星の同心
円内の直近の星5個→周星」、「周星の配置のバランス
・→逃道」と呼ばれ、それぞれ意味をもっている。詳細は
右の表に記したが、等星は影響力の差を、周星と逃道は
自分(相手)とその周囲の人との関係が占える。

The above process will allow you to fortune-tell compatibilities in a very rough manner. However, it's possible to read a much more detailed information from the stars. Said information comes from the [shine] of the stars. While to this point the only important information for fortune-telling came from the positions of the stars, the balance in the positions and shine between the Star of Fate (Position of Fate) and its Neighboring Stars will allow you to read a much more detailed fortune. The titles for the stars come in the following way: [Star of Fate-> Equivalent Star], [the closest five stars in a circle around the Star of Fate-> Neighboring Stars], [Balance in the Positions of the Neighboring Stars-> Escape Paths], and each of them have their own meanings. We have written the details for these meanings at the right. However, mind that you can fortune-tell the details in a relationship using the differences between yourself and the other people of the influence of the Stars of Destiny, the Neighboring Stars and the Escape Paths.

実践例

Practical Example

 クウから見上げた星空を使って、フィンネルとのエ
ンディング時の占いを再現してみよう。アオトは「運
命数17/年齢17/星向き二珠洲ノ宮」、フィンネルは
「運命数11/年齢17(11)歳/星向き:蒼天帝」だ。
つぎに天中星から、それぞれ星向きの扇形内で年齢
の数だけ星をたどる。フィンネルは6歳ぶん引いた11
個だ。次に範囲に関係なくもっとも近い星を運命数ぶ
んたどり、到達した星が運命位置となる。
 あとは、ふたりの運命位置の組み合わせで相性
の結果がわかるのだが、アオトは蒼痲ノ宮、フィンネ
ルは紅禰命で、相性が最も良い「正妻対極」の中の
「知楽」という組み合わせ。誰もが羨むラブラフカツ
プルだ。見える星空で結果か変わるため、ゲーム中
盤にクラスタニアで占った際は、六等星がいくつか見
えずに二人の運命位置が変わり、もっとも相性の悪い
「至遠対角」になっていたのだ。

Now, we will attempt reproducing the divination that Finnel performed in her ending using the starry sky she saw at Ku. Aoto's data is as follows: [Number of Fate: 17/Age: 17/Star Direction: Suzunomiya], while Finnel's is: [Number of Fate: 11/Age: 17 (1)/Star Direction: Soutentei]. Next, starting in the Central Star, we advance through the stars in the areas corresponding to their Star Directions until we have crossed a number of stars equal to their ages. Since Finnel was born with the body of a 6-year old, she is counted as an 11-years old. Next we advance through their stars again, without limiting ourselves to an specific area, until we have crossed a number of stars equivalent to their Number of Fate. The last stars to which we arrive will become their Positions of Fate.

Next, we should be able of knowing their compatibility result just from looking at the combination of their Positions of Fate: Aoto's position falls in the Soumanomiya area while Finnel's falls in the Koudenomikoto area, which ultimately puts them in the [Exact Opposites] compatibility, under the combination called [Shiraku*] (sic). This means that they will become a lovely couple that everyone will envy*. Since the results from just looking at the starry sky can change, when Finnel tried divining at Clustania, she was unable to see many of the level-6 Equivalent Stars, which changed their Positions of Fate, making the final result into the worst compatibility possible: the [Very Far] one.

  • The areas between these marks indicate that this was an error. The actual result for their compatibility is [Raikokubishi], which means that they will be a couple that quarrels everyday, but the more they quarrel, the more their love will flourish. This error was addressed and corrected in the Technical Data Room.

この星座盤は「クウ」から見たときの星位置である、実質この世
界の星巡りの最高精度である。クラスタニアからだと、この星座
盤から若干の六等星が抜け落ちる(見えない)ため、占い効果
がかなり変わってしまうことがある。

This constellation disc uses the positions of the stars as seen from [Ku], which essentially has the most accuracy in this world for performing Starcircling. Since a large number of the level-six equivalent stars in this disc are left out (can't be seen) in Clustania and such other places, they can really end up changing the results of the fortune-telling.

本作を語るうえで欠かせない、独特の世界観をビジュアルで表現しているのが松本秀幸
氏。本作の企画初期から参加しているため、膨大に用意されたラフのなかから一部を紹介!

This time, the visuals of the unique world setting for the game, an essential part of the story we told, were done by Mr. Hideyuki Matsumoto. Because he has participated in the development of this game since its initial stages, here we will be showing you a part of the drafts that we extensively used!

クウ

Ku

塔の頂点部のイメージラフ。その先端にあたる場所は極
めて狭く、緊急用のメンテナンス・ダイブポッドが出入り
するためのスペースだけが用意されている。

The image draft for the topmost point in the Tower. Furthermore, in the narrowest place in it, located at its very tip, there is only an space used for entering the emergency Maintenance Dive Pod.

The enormous silhouette designed to pierce through Moocheriel is pretty much the symbol of this game. However, before we reached the final design, there were many other detailed drafts used, all while we tried to come up with the best mechanism possible for shooting a bullet into the Planet.

クラスタニア

Clustania

これはクラスタニアの初期稿。決定稿よりも暗い配色、
そして有機的なイメージもあって、ミステリアスな印象。
樹上の形状や周囲の滝は決定稿にも活かされている。
Clustania Draft

This was the initial draft for Clustania. It uses a darker color scheme than the final design, and despite having the same organic look, it gives off a much more mysterious impression. As you can see, we ended using the form of the treetop and the surrounding waterfalls in the final design as well.

While these visuals don't have any relationship with the world map per se, Mr. Matsumoto was also behind the design of the vehicles. As for the indications we gave him about its source of movement, we considered the relationships between the wheels and rails, and asked him to design the Gauge based from that.

今回はマップメインで描かせれてい
ただきました。キャラが3Dだっ
たのでまずマップのアングルを相
談し、3Dモデルを作成してアング
ルを決定。それを元にしてマップ
を描くという流れでした。プロム
ナードや管八排油温泉の螺旋通路
はそういう手法が生きたかなと思
います。何をデザインする時でも
作業机の前で悩みながら七転八倒
してますが、そういう時は自分が
描いてて楽しいデザインにするよ
うに心がけています。今回も楽し
ませてもらいました。

This time, I was asked to draw the images for the world map. To design the 3D models for the characters, we had to discuss first the angles for drawing the map, and by establishing said angles, we could complete the 3D Models. That then became the basis I used for drawing the rest of the map. I think that was the method I used for giving life to places like the Promenade and the spiral-shaped pathways of the Capo Waste Oil Springs. While I always end up causing myself great pain and distress whenever I'm in front of the work desk, designing something, in these times I always try to remember how drawing something brings me such a great enjoyment. I also had a lot of fun while making these designs.
