It's a bit late for this, but Happy New Year.
Now for a quick question, Mother Jakuri answered in a previous issue a question about the change in body weight of the Reyvateils, where she said that Origins and Pureblooded β-Types don't need any water or food because they don't have human natures, but then I thought that if they don't receive energy from food, they have no metabolism, which means their appearance and physique shouldn't change, but...
The previous issue, Lady Shurelia said that her physique didn't change, so does she mean it CAN change?
No matter how much I think about it, I'm assuming that maybe the "if they eat, they'll gain weight" comes from the Song of the Triangular Nuclear Loop receiving some kind of influence, or it's actually more like some kind of placebo?
I decided to ask about something that bothered me a lot from the previous Toukousphere.
Is it possible for Lady Shurelia to gain or lose weight?
Lady Shurelia is an Origin, and thus she is hardwired to Ar tonelico, right?
I'm completely sure that by nature, she needs no outer nourishment and that eating food is just because she likes doing it, but then what did that mean...?
During the Technical Service Center of the previous issue, Lady Shurelia uttered something that bothered me a lot.
"And thanks to that, I was able to lose 3 Kg."
So which one of these would you suggest it's true?
1) Lady Shurelia began preparing to hibernate right before New Year, and she gained weight.
2) She originally had a thin chest, and it ended becoming flat.
3) She loses weight in comparison to when she wears her Linkage.
4) Reality is heartless. The appearance and weight of the Origins never undergo large changes.
The problem is precisely what you said. I've never heard anything about the Origins having a metabolism or their weight changing.
And if you're following what I say, it means that neither the Origins nor the βs can get fat or slim down.
And so, we'll try going in with all our enthusiasm this issue too!
In the Technical of issue #59, Jakuri said that she was kept confined for several years after she was born, but what kind of condition was it for her to be a Reyvateil who had no emotions? What kind of mentality did she have? Or was she tuned to become subservient to the humans?
But while it seems that having such a thorough obedience program made to then backfire on them was some kind of divine retribution, what catches my interest is the fact that the humans didn't seem to notice she had developed emotions, and I'd like to learn more too about how Mir was right after she was born until right before the instant she started her war.
Actually, I was thinking that the humans who knew that Mir was developing emotions had confined her to the Sylva Horn as one of several ways to protect her, but...
It's somewhat hard to think that scientists who had gotten to the level of controlling the Reyvateils' emotions would be so ignorant to the way they develop emotions.
The ways that the Neo Elemia of the time controlled me were revealed in my Cosmosphere in Ar tonelico 2, so if you want more details, you might want to experience them directly in there.
But as ending my answer in this way would be awful after you took the time to send this question, I'll explain my circumstances in a simple way.
Well, it's a nice story about politics. For those who don't know what that is, it's the work carried out by bureaucrats and politicians. Apparently scientists were carrying out trial and error experiments to suppress the manifestation of emotions through mental manipulation carried out through wave science and chemical methods, but they soon found out that completely stopping their development was impossible.
Of course, it was true that if they could have made a Reyvateil that was completely insensitive to external stimuli, she'd be able to sing Song Magic with an unparalleled accuracy (in other words, her precision would increase). To further explain this, the more she is isolated from external stimuli, the stronger the powerful emotions and feelings that swirl inside her mind, which amplifies the power of her Song Magic.
Because the politicians at the time made the statement that they had successfully created an emotionless Reyvateil, they were unable to overturn that declaration later on. Therefore, they forced the scientists to make me as close as possible to that idea, which means they deceived their people.
It seems part of these scientists had already made public that they had come to the conclusion of it "being impossible to keep me from manifesting emotions" during the initial stages of the project, but the decisions of the government were absolute, like it always has been in all stages of history.
So well, I was locked up in a place where no one could ever see me, and that was to keep me hidden because naturally, I was in a state where "it wouldn't be odd for me to start manifesting emotions at some point".
Politics are always such a disgusting mess, huh?
I've got a question about the Tower of Origin that was built between years 2932 and 2968 of the First Era... The question is, what was the Tower of Origin exactly? And after the Tower of Origin and Ar tonelico (First Tower) were completed, they each had their own services started: the "Public Soundwave Network SONATA" and the "Regional Soundwave Network SONATA", and since they are so similar, I was wondering if the Tower of Origin was just like what Ar tonelico is: a magical power amplification Tower.
To put it simply, the Tower of Origin was like a prototype for Ar tonelico. Maybe it'd be easier for me to say it was like the test track for the Chuo Shinkansen that is located at the Yamanashi Prefecture.
As the Tower of Origin was a tower built for researching the fundamental functions of Ar tonelico, it only could carry out the simple function of "Absorbing Dynamic H-Waves > Converting them > Amplifying them > Outputting them to Dynamic D-Waves".
But the extent of the miracles it could carry only went as far as causing a small localized rainfall. You might be thinking that the fact it could only do something like that is trivial in comparison to the large size of its systems, but these trivial miracles were the point of origin for the phantasmagoric Song Magic we can use now, its entire basis.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the process of "manifesting feelings" that Song Magic constitutes had been completed to around a 70% by the time this became possible.
Similarly to how particle accelerators require extremely large installations for only causing atoms to crash into each other and produce quarks, and it is a kind of research that is very far from becoming of practical use to society, the Tower of Origin was a very basic kind of research that was very far away from being of practical use to society.
By the way, the "Public Soundwave Network SONATA (Tower of Origin)" has as its main role making Symphonic Power into a useful kind of energy, so we could say it was very similar to a power distribution facility. As concrete examples of its usage in the Third Era, we have illumination and being able to automatically close and open doors.
As for the "Regional Soundwave Network SONATA (Ar tonelico)", it ended becoming a second generation Symphonic Power support use service that included the SONATA from the Tower of Origin and had at its core the "manifestation and materialization" of feelings of the Reyvateils.
It seems that IPDs have no Mind Guardians by nature, so how would someone who Dived into them navigate their Cosmospheres?
Wouldn't they have no other option but to keep on clearing that world without any kind of hints?
That's what they'd have to do.
Mind Guardians are not necessarily "hint givers" in the first place, as depending on the situation they might be hindering the Divers from advancing or being apathetic to them, so they aren't all cooperative.
And if the Reyvateil refuses to let the Diver into the depths of her mind, the Mind Guardian will obstinately refuse to help them, so while you might be thinking they can be helpful to navigate through the Cosmosphere, actually there have also been cases in which Divers couldn't keep Diving into the Reyvateils because their Mind Guardians didn't allow them to.
Since IPDs don't have Mind Guardians, Divers don't have anyone who helps them in navigating the Soulspace, but that also weakens the rejection ability of the Reyvateil herself, so being a type of Reyvateil has both merits and demerits to it.
Maybe the choice of which one they prefer more would be left to the Divers themselves too.
Can't Diquility be used without inserting it into the body like the Dualithnode Crystals?
(Extraterrestrial Life Form A Who Pledged Eternal love from the Bottom of his Heart to the Scorned Lady Shurelia Because She was Thought to be Part of an Eroge by his Relatives when They Heard the Life Extending Agent Scene and Thought it was a Dirty Scene, and He Couldn't Convince Them of the Opposite by Showing Them the Cover Art)
Using Diquility for the Wave Payload Osmosis Method is meaningless in the first place.
The reason for this is that the goal for "Installs" and "Dualstalls" is "to transform feelings through the application of strong waves with a powerful directionality (that have a certain tendency) upon the arrangement of the waves contained in the body". So when you are able to gain additional power from an external source, you end up establishing any methods for it you can, right?
But since Diquility is to be applied as a life extending agent and its goal is "keeping the continuous flow of Symphonic Power", it's necessary to always make the "source" for it exist with the body.
We could explain the "Wave Payload Osmosis Method" used by the Dualithnode Crystals as changing feelings through a great power, as by applying extremely strong quantities of Symphonic Power, they change the directionality of the Symphonic Power (feelings) inside the body for a certain period of time.
Therefore, since this method isn't used for the continuous release of Symphonic Power, it can't be applied to Diquility Installs.
However, this is just because "the method for doing it is similar", but "its general efficacy and goals are completely different".
Maybe I could explain it a little more easily if I use examples taken from medicine.
In Sol Ciel, it's typical to "take white pills as stomach medicine and cold medicine". On the other hand, in Metafalss it's typical to "smear cold medicine on the stomach" and "take white pills for stomach medicine".
So doing what you just said would be more or less like saying "they smear cold medicine in their stomachs in Metafalss, but wouldn't they heal better if they applied that same principle and smeared the stomach medicine in their stomachs?"
While a bit fast, I'll boldly ask this question: couldn't the party have relayed to Shurelia through Jakuri that Infel and Nenesha were singing SUBLIMATION, and make Aurica or Misha sing PURGER in order to stop SUBLIMATION? But well, maybe that could have left the story incomplete if they could have done that.
The Song PURGER has the goal of "cutting off the exposure to the Symphonic Power supply to a Digital Life Form that took physical form due to Dynamic D-Waves (Symphonic Power), which leaves it unable to revive, escape or change; and if kept for a long period of time, makes it unable to maintain its form".
As for the Hymmnos Song SUBLIMATION, the ones who were singing it weren't "Digital Life Forms", but were bona fide "Reyvateils". In this case, the Symphonic Power cutoff effects of PURGER would have been useless.
But well, while it couldn't stop the Song, what about "Ryuju"? Certainly it's possible that PURGER could have weakened Ryuku itself, but under that situation I couldn't think things through. And since Aurica and Misha couldn't see Ryuju, they wouldn't have been able to designate it as their target for the Song in the first place.
So no matter how, you'd still come to the conclusion that it'd have been impossible for Aurica or Misha to do anything. However, it's possible that if I had Downloaded PURGER when I was in that place and used it, it might have made the battle a bit easier.
And the New Year mood is slowly slipping away.
If it always was New Year, I could sleep in everydas and eat mochi. Too bad.
That's right. If it always was New Year, I could always stay young and not get even a year older.
You're both full-fledged New Year's idiots, huh?
The complex you've got about your own age seems like a pretty self-destructive obsession, Shurelia...
Stop saying stupid things and begin working seriously from the next issue.
I got sick right as New Year came and I didn't show any signs of getting better at the start... However! I considered this as a hint from myself that said "Brace Yourself For This Entire Year!", and thus I decided I want to keep doing my best while taking care of myself.
The Ar tonelico characters are all brimming with energy, so I'm sending a lot of energies from both them and myself to you. I wish you all can also cheer up, no matter how slightly, just from reading the Toukousphere!
