Nyuroki! Aurica's here!
Today, I'll be in charge of this place too!
I don't know if there'll be any questions I can answer, but still I'll go in with everything I have. So everyone, please help me out!
Well, time for the introduction for the newcomers, as usual. Here's the corner where we answer thoroughly and seriously the technical questions about Ar tonelico's world setting. If you have any questions of the "I really wanna know! Please answer it seriously!" type, then make sure to send them to this corner. When you, make sure to write "Addressed to the Technical Service Center" anywhere in your message, okay? Otherwise, we might just miss it.
I'm in charge of this corner today due to special circumstances, but I'll answer like Lady Shurelia and Misha do normally.
Here's a submission about something that's been bothering me. Can Reyvateils craft Song Magic right after they're born? Or that depends on the individual? That's what I'm bothered about, so please tell me!
And so soon I get a question that's so appropriate for me!
As both Lady Shurelia and Misha were both born Reyvateils, they could only answer this kind of question theoretically.
But since I've actually experienced becoming one, that lets me describe it more vividly!
The strength of the Reyvateil qualities can be checked right at birth through the "Hexagonal Plate Test", but generally Reyvateils can only actually sing Song Magic once they're 13 years old or older.
I think those who've listened to the Drama CDs might get this, but remember how little Saya couldn't use Song Magic? Well, pretty much all Reyvateils craft their Song Magic through Diving, but they generally can only Dive when they turn 13. This is because there's the fear that Diving into an immature Reyvateil could cause her mind to collapse, and on the other hand it'd also swallow up the Diver, so that's why basically no Dive Shop operator allows such Dives.
I noticed something while reading the setting materials collection... I think it said something to the effect of "As the Hymn Code is assigned to the Reyvateils by the Tower when they are made, the Third Generations don't have one due to not being artificial life forms". But if that's the case, why does Aurica have a Hymn Code? And besides the same code as Mir, of all people!? I wonder, is that related in some way to what was said in a previous Toukousphere about Aurica and Mir having very similar wavelengths...? This worries me so much that I can't sleep at night! Please tell me, Lady Shurelia!
Other question for me!
...But now I think about it, I've already answered a question that was just like this one, huh?
It was where I used the example of "Miu being a 480 yen pork cutlet"... which was around three issues ago. Please try checking the backnumber issues! And to put it simply, we all Third Generations do have Hymn Codes, but since they aren't registered in the Ar tonelico server, it's just as if we didn't have them. You know how barcodes aren't recognized by the registers of the supermarkets if they aren't registered in that supermarket's POS? It's the same thing for the Hymn Codes.
Hello, Lady Shurelia. I know Third Generations have ranks, and that there's great disparity between them in Tenba due precisely to that. However, what kind of power baseline is the one used to seprate the ranks?
For example, which one would be stronger: an A-Rank that has reached her Lv. 3 Cosmosphere, or a D-Rank that has reached her Lv. 8 Cosmosphere?
Actually, I'm beginning to think that maybe there's no really much of a noticeable difference between the ranks.
Generally speaking, that Rank thing is no more than how much the Hexagonal Plate sinks into the skin when applied right after one's born. There might be even some babies that have so much muscles and skin that the plate doesn't even actually sinks into their skins.
And it's true that while Class A Reyvateils might seem like they can craft Song Magic more smoothly than Class D ones, they actually are only slightly stronger than them. However, there's also the thing that most Reyvateils never Dive beyond their Lv. 5 Cosmosphere, so there's really no comparison between the Song Magic of a Class D that has reached her Lv. 8 and a Class A that has reached her Lv. 3.
To give an example, if Misha and me fought with me using the Song Magic "Ar tonelico" and her using her Song Magic "Glacial Ball", the result would be obvious, right?
It's been said Lady Shurelia "was born around 739 years ago", but when I tried looking at the Ar tonelico timeline, it says that Ar tonelico was completed in 3013 AD during the First Era, while the most recent event was ELMA-DS's appearance in 3770 AD during the Third Era. According to my calculations, this makes so she has lived for a total of 757 years. Or is it that Ar tonelico was completed first and Lady Shurelia was created later on as the Tower Administrator, so she would have actually lived around 739 years? Which one is it? Please tell me. ｍ（_ _）ｍ
I didn't live 800 years ago, so I can't really give a detailed answer, but from looking at the timeline, it really looks like Lady Shurelia is 739 years old. In other words, the Tower of Ar tonelico was completed first and then she was made as the Administrator for controlling it that would be far better than the humans at it... or so it's written, huh?
So I think the right one'd be that she was made later on. But it was a pretty large project in which lotsa money was spent and whose result was Lady Shurelia, so it's a mystery if they even broke even with it.
Looks like the people from long ago also had lotsa problems...
Ah, hi. I've checked this corner a few times in the past, but this is the first time I'm sending a submission.
It seems that because of the appearance of this question corner, the world setting is expanding bit by bit.
I played the game around June last year, and after thinking "This is it!", I slowly began making a fanfiction sequel to it, or better said, a derivative work that took me half a year to make, while continually staring at the information from the setting materials collection book and the perfect guide. But during that time, I suddenly thought of something.
...Huh? How does Sol Ciel's weather work in the first place? I know that the climate in the Wings of Horus is controlled by the Musical Corridor due to the great height at which is located, but how much is it controlled...? Can it be configured according to the four seasons and indicate the places where rain and snow can fall...? Can it also be given the trend for making flowers bloom and such?
And anyway, it seems that their general concept of time is the same as ours, but there are several unexplained things about it that have been bothering me. As there are two moons, that should change the concept of morning and night due to having an influence on the planet's rotation. And besides, the planets where people can live should rotate around a fixed star like Earth does around the Sun, so the sunlight should be able to reach the Wings of Horus. But it also seems like unfounded suspicion to be guessing that the environment and gravity there should have been exactly the same as the one we have on Earth, so how is it? Have you actually thought up all of these details?
Though I guess that if it's Tsuchiya-san, he did actually think all that thoroughly... could you please answer these questions?
Lady Shurelia said something similar before, but operating that thing's pretty difficult. That's why she apparently left it configured it to make Sol Ciel have a spring-like weather all year 'round. As for the rain, only the amount needed for rivers and plants to exist falls, so it isn't a great problem. As for snow... I've never seen it fall.
And actually, I don't know what kind of life could there be below the Sea of Death, but I think that's more or less how is it.
Maybe we could continue talking about this later?
And I tried answering the questions I could. Now I've actually tried doing it, I know how tiring this corner is. I think these two actually work a lot, but I think I'm better off keeping my tsukkomi job.
And this was the Aurica-colored Toukousphere. I thought since we would continue making Toukousphere issues for a bit longer like we always did, we could also do the trick of making one character handle an entire issue and decided to test it our first with Aurica. This was because Aurica's the easiest character to create content for. As for Misha, well... I thought she could come in handy for a very serious Toukousphere. I think we'd like to make irregular things like this one once again later, so please make sure to not miss it out and visit us when that happens.
