アルトネリコ2発売を記念して始まるこのコーナー。ここでは何回かに渡りまし て、アルトネリコ2の各システムや構想が生まれるに至った開発秘話を書いてい こうと思います。今回、第一回目は「世界創成」と題しまして、アルトネ2が今 の形を形成するきっかけとなった、初めて物語をお話ししたいと思います。

アルトネリコ2という世界の構想は、実はアルトネリコ1が発売される前である、 2005年11月頃からありました。では、その頃から既に2制作が決まってい たのかといいますと、そんなことはありません。実際にアルトネリコ2制作が決 定したのは、アルトネリコ1発売後数ヶ月後です。11月頃などというのは、ま だアルトネリコ1がどれくらい売れるのか、どれくらい人気が出るのかなど誰に もわかりませんでしたからね。それでも次回作が作りたいという気持ちは強く、 正直2の制作が決定しようがしまいが、とにかく新しい世界を創りたくて仕方が なかった…そんな所からの始まりでした。
1で既に、途方もない高さの塔という事を売りにしてしまった以上、2ではそれ より高い塔というものを作るのはどうかな…という事で、色々と考えていました。 更に、1が終了した時点で、何らかの形で語りたいなぁと思っていたことがいく つかありました。その最たるものがミュール関係、そのなかでも特にMETAF ALICAという詩だったのです。メタファリカは、ヒュムノサーバーにも載っ ている「古メタファルス律」という流派の歴史と深い関係にありました。メタファ ルス律は、大昔に栄えたメタ・ファルスという国が創り出したヒュムノス律です。 この段階で、次はメタ・ファルスでの物語にしようという事は決まっていました。 そしてメタファリカが大陸創成の詩である事から、今回は創成という事をテーマ にして制作をしたのです。故に、2の世界は1の世界より塔が短くなっています。 これは後から塔や大陸が生み出される事を想定した「変わっていく世界」という ものを表現する前提として創っているためです。
このようにして、1で名前だけ登場していた「メタファリカ」「古メタファルス 律」から、2の世界は創られていきました。

実は2の世界には、世界の形状や物理的な部分に関して、1とは違うサプライズ がまだまだ沢山あります。これは世界の日常のサイクルや、2の世界の成り立ち に関係するところで、設定はしたものの説明する機会もなくお蔵入りになってし まったものです。まだ時期が早いためにここで明かすことはできませんが、もう 少し時間が経ちましたらお話ししたいと思います。とはいっても、ゲームのストー リーやシステム等とはあまり関係のない、世界をより一層楽しめるエッセンスで しかありませんが…。興味を持っていただけたら嬉しいです。

Hi, everyone. This is Tsuchiya.

I've decided to start this corner in commemoration of Ar tonelico 2's release. I think we'll write here the hidden development stories about each system from Ar tonelico 2 and how the ideas that led to their development were first produced over the course of the undetermined number of issues it'll run for. Well then, this first issue is titled [World Creation], and so I'd like to take this chance to tell the first story about the chance that let Ar tonelico 2 take the shape it has now.

The concept for the Ar tonelico 2 world was actually first thought up in November 2005, even before Ar tonelico 1 had been released. So well, while you might be wondering now if we had decided already we would make a second game from back then, that's not the case. In fact, the decision to create Ar tonelico 2 was made several months after Ar tonelico 1's release. But that November, no one knew how much Ar tonelico 1 would sell or how popular it would become. But still, I had strong feelings of wanting to make a sequel for it, and as I honestly decided I wanted to make a second game, in the end I couldn't help but want to try my hand at creating a new world anyway... And that's where everything started.
I had already made a Tower of an absurd height as the selling for 1, so maybe I should make an even taller Tower for 2... And I had all sorts of other ideas like that one. Furthermore, I thought about all other things I wanted to talk about from the time period at which 1's story closed off. Among these, the most extreme were matters related to Mir, but the one that I was especially interested was the Song called METAFALICA. Metafalica is even registered in the Hymmnoserver as belonging to the [Ancient Metafalss Note], which means it had a deep relationship and history with it. And the Metafalss Note is a Hymmnos Note that was created by the country of Metafalss that prospered in the ancient times. So in this way, I decided that I wanted to tell a story set in Metafalss for the next game. And given that Metafalica is a Song for creating a continent, I decided that this game would have creation as its main theme. Therefore, the world for 2 would have a Tower with a smaller height than 1's world. And so we sequentially created everything as a way to present the [changing world] that could be hypothesized as existing from the Tower and the creation of a continent.
And so, [Metafalica] and the [Ancient Metafalss Note], which were only mentioned by name in 1, ended up creating 2's world.

In fact, the world of 2 has many differences from 1 when it comes to its world's physical structure and shape, so there are many surprises for you all. As for the everyday cycles of the world and the way 2's world came to be, there were several concepts we had set down but we had shelve because we had no chance to properly explain them. So while we can't explain them here due it still being too early, we'll explain them fully once a little more time has passed. Anyway, this didn't have anything to do with matters such as the game's story or systems, and it essentially was only something for you all to enjoy the world even more... but if any of you are interested in hearing more about it, that would make me really happy.
